Reader Request: Bronze Pleats and Beaded Snake

Today, I'm doing the penultimate Reader Request: Unknown reader requested "the shiny pleated skirt with the Escalade blouse" (this outfit here, and it's Escada, by the way). It's now too chilly to wear that blouse on its own (and I don't layer silk blouses underneath jackets, due to armpitting), but I'll happily wear this skirt again.
Of course, the first thing that I thought of instead was this beaded snake blouse! I was so excited to wear this again!

  • Blouse - Topshop, thrifted; last worn here in February 2019 with a sequined miniskirt
  • Skirt - Ralph Lauren, consignment; last seen here with a funky Escada blouse in September
  • Boots - Rockport, thrifted; last worn here in September with a Cavalli dress
  • Coat (below) - Casa Donna, thrifted; purchased here for $16.95

Unfortunately, I woke up feeling like a truck hit me.
The aftereffects of yesterday's jab - I'm aching and tired. I could barely get up this morning.

I lasted 3 hours at work and then went home.
And I'm off to bed as soon as I hit "publish."

I'm so happy to have this blouse back in my wardrobe - it sat in the giveaway pile for most of the pandemic, until I passed it along to Vero.
She brought it back on my last clothing swap, and Linda said she'd cut the waistline and put a hidden side zipper in for me. She returned it to me just this last weekend - all hand-stitched! I'm happy it still fits.

Masked up.
Not that I saw anyone today...

Outerwear/incognito:
This new-to-me flocked velvet leopard coat was fun to wear. It felt like a big pouffy Armour Coat. Much needed!

Accoutrements:
The usual.

  • Silk scarf - Lanvin, vintage 70s, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
I keep these boots out all year round.

Gold bling:
I had to dig around to find jewelry to wear - most of my bronzy stuff is in my fall/winter jewelry collection...which I'll also be swapping over soon.

  • Snake bracelet - Whiting & Davis, vintage 70s, vintage fair
  • Bracelet - J. Crew, consignment
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Jade/brass ring - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Earrings - vintage mall

Only one more Reader Request after today's outfit, and I'm saving it for Friday.

And now...to bed.

  2. Impressed you managed to put together a swooshing outfit and super jewelry! I hope you had a long nap and a sound sleep, punctuated, perhaps, by whatever is your TLC meal (like the proverbial chicken soup. :)) and that you awoke today feeling a-okay!

I’ve come to think of the side effects of vaccines as reminders that, as uncomfortable as they may be, the actual virus would feel worse.

Here’s to healthy hugs and cheers,

  3. Oh, poor you! I'm surprised I didn't have any side effects this time around, but I felt much the same as you after round 2 and 3. Hope you're feeling better soon!
Fabulous outfit, though! I can't believe how well the snake blouse went with the shiny skirt. Your bling is spot on as well. I spotted the new earrings! xxx

  4. Whoops! “Escalade” was created by autocorrect. This outfit is a winner!

  5. What a fabulous outfit, I love the blouse and skirt together!
I'm sorry that the booster knocked you about. Both of us said that our arms felt a bit heavy last night but (touch wood) we've been okay. Feel better soon. xxx

  8. I'm trying to find a date that I can be ill if needed the next day. Your reader selected a good match.

  9. That top and the pleated skirt are beautiful together, such a lovely pairing! I never feel too bad after the flu shot so I'm not sure why the covid booster hits me so hard, but yep the next day is a write off, and I can't do much after them. I think I'll struggle if it becomes a yearly thing like the flu shot!

  10. You look great even if feeling under the weather. I never know what to wear with metallic skirts so I go with a default black. This is much more imaginative.

  11. What a terrific outfit. I am green with envy (haha). The skirt is so perfect, and the blouse is unique (in a good way). Love both of them.
I've had my vaccination booster as well. Just had one day of feeling rather tired, nothing more. Ron didn't have any after effects, but my mum felt one day as if she was hit by a bus. She never experienced that before.
