Bigass Weekend Wrap-Up: Fancy Friday ABBA Jumpsuit; Snake and Leather Brunch; Winesday New Cape; and Sunday Shop

I'm baaack! I hope you've all had a stellar weekend - I've had a solid couple of days, with much interaction with people (and a cat) I care about, along with a lovely wee shop.

Let's cast our minds back to Friday - I got fancy for my Finance guy, Scott, who treated me to lunch out.
I also had a haircut after work and had promised Kaitlyn I would wear this jumpsuit for her.

  • Blouse - Nanette Lepore, thrifted; first seen here in August under crochet
  • Jumpsuit - Jean Charles de Castelbajac, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in August for brunch
  • Shoes - Homers; last seen here in June for a Mental Health Shop

I've never tried layering a top or blouse underneath the jumpsuit, so I stuck with this white one that I thrifted recently.
A few people I saw didn't realize I was wearing a separate top.

I happily swooshed my ginormous ABBA legs at everyone I saw.
This jumpsuit is a joy to wear.

A pain to pee in, though.
And I would have appreciated pockets, Mr. JCDC.

Masked up.
"Your mask matches your skirt," said Scott.

"It's a jumpsuit!" I cried and did this.
"Also, nothing I wear is by accident."

Incognito.
And showing off my shoes.

The stuff:
I walked to work, then to my hair appointment and then home afterwards. Love these shoes.

Yellow bling:
Kaitlyn raved over the yellow: "It's everything with this outfit."

  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Dragon bangle - Lazy Susan's
  • Smoky topaz ring - Anneli Neuman, Sweden, vintage mall
  • Amber thumb ring - antique store
  • Balls ring - Sidney
  • Bakelite earrings - vintage fair

L and I hung out together on Friday night, enjoying some board games and music.
"I'm ignoring you."

Vizzini seems to be responding to the blood pressure medication - we've noticed that he can see a bit of  light/dark and motion from his right eye.

We slept in on Saturday morning (no Ulti) and got ready to head to town for brunch and our weekly grocery shop.
I went dressy, as I wanted to wear this purple leather skirt - it's been with me a while and I still like to get in a wear once a year.

  • Top - Diane Von Furstenberg, thrifted; last worn here in April with gone joggers
  • Skirt - Chia, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in June 2021 with purple tigers
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog, consignment; last worn here in August with roses and pleats

New haircut - she went quite a bit shorter, with loads of layers around my face.
Hands jammed in pockets, as I am wont to do.

I just felt like being a little dressy.
There just aren't enough days to wear everything.

I like this silk knit wrap top - it matches the shoes so well.
I do love my matchy.

Masked up.
Surprise - more matchy.

Incognito.
Special Guest Star in the deli department!

Accoutrements:
Shiny purse!

  • Purse - Zara, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
These shoes are half a size big on me, so I've added inserts.

  • Pendant - Karen's
  • Earrings - consignment, Powell River; purchased here for $25.00
  • Steel cuff - thrifted
  • Sparkly cuff - consignment, Powell River; purchased here for $10.00
  • Amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Turquoise ring - Glee

Forgot to take a picture of the bling.

Winesday was at Tracy's on Saturday night, and it was a nice intimate group of 8 of us.
We've had up to 14-15, and it gets hard to talk to everyone. My casual outfit was much admired.

  • Top - Just Cavalli, consignment; first worn here in July with olive
  • Jeans - Cambio Sport; last seen here in August with a dress overtop
  • Shoes - Marquess Swordfish Floyd, Fluevog; last worn here in August with roses
  • Cape (below) - Arola by Pirkko Maki, vintage 60s, thrifted; purchased here for $24.95

A fun top.
I liked this orange snakeskin much better with the white jeans this time.

I tucked the front in.
And left the back untucked.
I managed to keep the jeans clean!

Caped up and feeling it!
There's my David Bowie pin.

This was lovely for sitting out on the deck as the red sun went down.
Once the mosquitos came out, we went inside.

The stuff:
I liked playing up the orange tones in the soles this time. Love these shoes!

Badass bling:
All armoured up.

  • Belt - gift from Ruth
  • Silver/Lucite cuff - Alexis Bittar
  • Studded leather cuff - vintage 90s
  • Earrings - gift from Lise
  • Pendant - M&M, consignment, Vancouver
  • Ball ring - Sidney
  • Amber thumb ring - antique shop, Sidney
  • Pivot ring - consignment
  • Bowie brooch (not shown) - vintage fair; purchased here for $5.00

I finally crashed into bed around 2am, had a slight sleep in on Sunday, then decided to go for a wee Mental Health Shop.
Ahoy! I'm off to WIN!

  • Top - Peter Pilotto x Target, consignment, Sidney; first seen here (3rd outfit) last weekend for Vero's birthday
  • Skirt - Tatum & Olivia, thrifted; last worn here (3rd outfit) in April for a thrift with colleague Lindsay
  • Shoes - Truths Pilgrims, Fluevog; last seen here in April with my black suit

I did a minimal effort, both in outfit and pictures. I looked like this when not shopping (only with my knapsack on).
I had this top hanging with the skirt for a re-wear for both of them.

I let my hair air-dry and have just eyeliner and cover-up on.
Nylons with runs in them - I chucked them when I got home.

Masked up.
I looked like this while shopping.

The stuff:
More minimalism - just earrings.

  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

I spent a leisurely 2.5 hours going through everything in the big Pandora Avenue WIN (Women In Need) store and found a few treasures.

I love these thick and warm leather gloves.
A nice woven detail near the real rabbit fur cuffs.

Perfectfit now seems to be a brand of work gloves.
Love that vintage label! I'd guess these are from the 80s.

They were only $14.95 and are going to be so snuggly warm this winter!
They'll be a nice surprise in a few months when I find them in with my gloves.

I had to take this lovely long velvet scarf.
It's a deep burgundy reddish shade.

It doesn't have any tags, but that feels like silk velvet.
For $3.95, I went for it.

I've seen this blouse at WIN on my last few trips and didn't buy it because it was too expensive.
After all, it is rather hideous. It is SO 80s.

It's 100% silk.
And there's a spare button.

It's by Escada by Margaretha Ley, made in Italy.
The punch on the tag means it was half price, so $8.50.

It was $34.95 the last two times I saw it.
I spotted this same blouse on Grailed for $90, and a long-sleeved version for over $200.

I took a risk on these black fully-lined suede trousers.
But they are too big, so into the giveaway pile they go.

That's okay - they were only $17.95.
Made in Canada too! Ah, well - you can't try stuff on at WIN anymore, so I was hoping for the best.

This red plaid shirt fits me perfectly.
Things I like about it: pairs of buttons (it stays non-gaping over the boobs), the plaid is woven, the shirt is fitted.

It's also 100% cotton.
The CA number tells me it's from 1991.

I like that polka dot trim too.
It was a mere $7.95.

I bought a sweatshirt. Not a usual "Sheila thing."
I like the design on the front, which is a skull and a bunch of snakes.

There's a big zip on one side.
The black tie is real leather.

I've seen this brand - The Kooples - at Turnabout for very high prices, so I knew this was a treasure. They're a French brand, specializing in "rock & roll wear" - right up my alley!
The little pin/tag attached means this was likely never worn (it's in very good condition). Their printed sweatshirts are $225.00 retail - my $14.95 feels pretty good!

I gasped when I saw this coat. It has a double collar (it stands up) and a bubble hem.
The fabric is flocked velvet on shiny brown - leopard!

Sleeve detail.
Not quite a ruffle. It's a fit-and-flare silhouette and quite light, so it'll be great for the fall.

It's by Casa Donna and was only $16.95 - the CA number tells me it's from 2004.
I'm looking forward to wearing this!

Well, Vizzini, I'm home now. Are you ready to spit out some more pills?
"I don't like my medicine."

Too bad.

And now, my friends, I'm going to go chill with my little buddy here and catch up on the first day of the NFL football season! Go, Panthers! Thank you so much for stopping by!

  1. I've been away from blogland for a bit, sorry to hear Vizzini hasn't been well.

The legs on the jumpsuit reminds me of what my favourite historically inspired YouTubers call Edwardian "secret pants"!

  2. My favourite outfit here is the Winesday one. I also prefer the top more with the white. Love your new sweatshirt - very rock and roll, just up my alley! Hugs to Vizzini. Lise

  3. I love your brunch outfit. I can't imagine grocery shopping so stylishly, but you're gorgeous, so it fits. Living the Cape. I have several cape/ pinch like garments for cooler weather, which we'll need soon enough. Give Vizzinni all the love from me too.

  4. Love the new hair! All the outfits were fab; I'm a big fan of the 90s jumpsuit and would be thrilled if I found a similar one! Loved it with the pops of yellow. I also liked the orange and white ensemble and the red and black pattern mixed outfit, too. Sometimes you just want minimalist which is why I frequently wear a kaftan on a Sunday - easy peasy!

What a productive mental health shop. Such a shame about the suede trousers; they looked lovely. The gloves are fab as was the animal print jacket; the sweatshirt, the amazing plaid shirt; the top and the scarf. Didn't you do well!

Glad to hear Vizzini is responding to the medication.

Hope you have a great week.

  8. Your ABBA jumpsuit is a particular favourite of mine, so that outfit certainly gets the thumbs up from me.
The greatest news about Vizzini, by the way!
Saturday's outfit is very chic, and I'm loving that top - and cape - you wore for winesday.
And oh my, didn't you do well on your wee mental health shop. I think I do need to go for a good old rummage myself, although admittedly I couldn't resist a wee charity shop when I was away. xxx

  9. I love that jumpsuit on you and you layer it well! I really like that beautiful coat you thrifted but you got a lot of lovely things! It's nice you got to spend so much time with friends too.
Glad to hear the medicine is working for Vizzini, even if he isn't a fan of eating it!

  10. I read in your newer posts that Vizzini is responding well on the medication. Hurray.
Funny to see your purchases after I have already seen them styled. Sorry...I am doing it the other way around.

  11. Looks like you had an excellent shopping trip and came home with some fab finds. I would have gone for the silk 80's Escada blouse too! If I lived closer to you I would ask to try those suede trousers as I am larger than you, and I have a terrible time finding pants to fit me. I'm glad to hear that Vizz is having a positive response to the medication.
