Weekend Silliness: Men In Black: Another Dimension!

Welcome to our weekend silliness!

We are starring in Men In Black: Another Dimension!

Starring: L as Agent L, Sheila as Agent S, and special guest star Vizzini appearing as Agent V.

Agents L and S were having a quiet morning, lounging around in their black suits, reading the paper.
"I see that scientist is still warning about a dimensional rift. I'm sure it's nothing..."

"Yeah, it's also definitely not connected to all the plumbers disappearing."

But Special Agent V is on the case!
"It sounds suspicious. I should check with my informants."

Agent V's informants were very agitated! Something IS going on!
"Plumbers are going missing? Hmmm...you smell delicious..."

"Agent V! Rally the Men in Black to save the universe! Nyogtha is trying to break through into our dimension!"
"Tell me more about this Nyogtha! Is he a many-tentacled horror?"

"Yes! Hurry! Summon the Men In Black"

Agent V alerted Agent S as soon as he'd finished napping.
"A rift is going to happen. The mice told me."

Agent V, how can we help?
"Get Agent L immediately, Woman!"

Agent L was dubious - could these headlines be connected?
"Mouse informants, tell Agent L what you told me!"

They told of a tentacled horror, coming up through the plumbing, trying to break through into our world!
"Help us, Men in Black! He'll destroy the universe and kill us all!"

Agents S and L investigated and to their horror, found it was true!
"I'm a very scary inter-dimensional being! RAR! I will eat you!"

Agent L tried the Cricket.
"I try to pull you in with my grabby tentacles! C'mere!"

It may be small but it packs a wallop.
You might be able to view this shot of the Cricket in action! (or not, I'm not sure if this will work for you - you might need to try clicking the > Play button a couple of times).

It seemed to have no effect, so Agent S tried her Golden Bazooka, which shoots heat like the blazing heart of a comet.
"RAR! Your guns have no effect on me!"

Agent S alone couldn't hurt it!
And maybe you can see her Golden Bazooka in action?

Only together could the Men In Black conquer their inter-dimensional foe!
"One...two...ready..."

And...FIRE! Death to Nyogtha and his tentacles!
"Aieeeee!!! Nooooo!! Not both together!"

Both the explosive power of the Cricket and the heat from the Golden Bazooka were able to save us all!

And maybe you can see it in action!

But now that you've been exposed to the sordid underbelly of the REAL situation going on in the world, not to mention a talking cat and mouse informants, I'm afraid you're going to have to look over here...Right here...just look at these silver things and...
"PEW!!!"

Our Neuralizers will ensure that you don't remember any of this. You only THINK that we're in the middle of a pandemic. Good thing we're here to keep the real truth from you.

And so, the Men (and Cat) In Black, saved the Universe again.

-----------------------------------

Heh heh, that was fun. Here's my outfit.
I have very little black in my spring/summer wardrobe - thank goodness for this patterned suit!

  • Suit - Part Two; jacket last worn here in September 2019 with some animal pattern-mixing; pants last worn here in July 2019 with the jacket.
  • Shirt - J. Crew, thrifted; last seen here in August 2019 with a very short skirt (and a bow-tie!)
  • Shoes - Half Truth Veda, Fluevog; last worn here in March with pink floral

I swapped out my glasses for my sunglasses (an essential accessory for a Man in Black such as I), so I didn't know this pic was blurry until now. Oh well.
I loved wearing my jammy suit again - it's very comfy.

I was dressed in this while I made Nyogtha's tentacles out of three pairs of black socks stuffed with aluminum foil.
L's Cricket gun was a mini glue-gun covered in foil. Our Neuralizers were containers for my hair oil and face cream, also covered in foil.

My Golden Bazooka is three scotch whisky tins taped together, with two golden candlesticks as handles, and the attachment for my immersion blender taped to the top. The little red thing on the end is the tuning snark from L's guitar.
I do look badass in this.

And now I'm all chill...
Here's the polka dot shirt and tie with just the pants.
I don't own a plain white shirt.

The stuff:
I also don't have many black pairs of shoes in my spring/summer wardrobe!

Black bling:
I am not sure what has happened to my two other pairs of sunglasses - these are the only ones I could find.

  • Sunglasses - the Patch
  • Tie - Escada by Margaretha Ley, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocarra, vintage fair
  • Shield ring - Nine West
  • Studs - don't remember

The tie says, "Has a love letter won your heart?"

Agent L and Agent V, hanging out on the couch this morning.
"Saving the world is hard work."

I hope you had fun! Remember, there is NO inter-dimensional multi-tentacled being trying to break through into our universe and kill us all!
"PEW!!"

It's only a pandemic. Everyone be calm and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Agent S, over and out.

    1. Thanks, Mica! We had a blast doing it! Oh, I didn't even know that there were sound effects too - how awesome!

Thanks for coming by! No reason we can't still have some fun during this pandemic!

  2. Another fun post, Sheila! You really went over the top, creating Nyogtha, the Cricket Gun and Golden Bazooka, and adding the sound effect videos! Very clever, I wouldn't even know how to start doing that. You're both looking the epitome of cool in your black suits. Your jammy suits looks err, very jammy indeed, and the polka dot shirt is so much better than an ordinary white one. And, of course, Agent V is stealing the show again! Thank you, agents S., L. and V., for saving the universe, as well as making my day! xxx

    1. Thanks, Ann! The "add effects" is part of the default photo editor that came with our latest version of Windows - I was just messing around with it, seeing what I could do.

Thank you - we totally had fun with this. Agent V always steals the show! He can't help it, he's much cuter than us...and better at saving the universe!

  3. This is hilarious! But also, the newspaper is still called the "Times Colonist"? I mean, colonialism is real (just as First Nations folks), but isn't openly celebrating it out of style by now?

    1. Thanks, Ellie!

The Times-Colonist is the name of the local paper - you are welcome to write to them and complain. I have nothing to do with their name, and was just re-using an old paper I had laying around.

    2. Sorry, definitely didn't mean to suggest you were celebrating! The name is clearly on the paper's owners/management. Although it does seem too bad they haven't come in for enough criticism from readers/local folks to change it by now.

    3. It's named after a paper that is more than 125 years old. There haven't been any complaints that I've seen in my 40+ years of reading the paper, though, as I said, you are certainly welcome to write them and do so, since you feel strongly about it.

  4. So fun! I love it. This is exactly the kind of thing we need to do to combat the virus. Kudos and applause, my friend.

  5. I had great fun with this post. And I couldn't figure out how the Golden Bazooka was made. It looked so darned real. Great creativity. I could play the videos: paw, fire.
Thank you very much for this amusement. Great suit too. And L was dressed to the nines as well.

  7. Good Lord that was hilarious and so awesome!! Ally cat has a mouse that looks like one of those informants. I wonder what he knows? Thank goodness the Cricket and the Golden Bazooka were enough to save us all form Nyogtha! I can't get enough of those videos. I keep watching them over and over. I was laughing when my husband came in from outside. He thinks I'm losing it. I'll have to tell him about Nyogtha and show him the videos. Thank you Agent S, Agent L and Agent V for saving us!!

  8. Mr. Kitty was just asking me why he can't have this much fun with Nana and Gramps and I had to tell him that a) we don't have that much imagination and b) we leave it to the professionals!

I must say that in the midst of all this sadness you are rays of sunshine :)

And now, I'll leave you to the spies who love you.

    Keep well.

  10. Great fun! What super cool agents you all are. I loved your weapons and thank you for ridding us of that evil tentacled thing! I loved the trousers suit with the white shirt and tie - very super agenty....

The informer mice were brilliant - do they belong to Vizzini or are they yours? I've been looking at some felted sculptures of animals lately; and they are scarily life like, but how clever are the artists who make them.

You certainly know how to have a fun weekend!

    Stay safe and keep well,

    1. Thanks so much, Vronni! We had a great time putting our outfits together, then making the "guns" and props. All of the mice belong to Vizzini - he goes through them very quickly!

Glad you enjoyed our silliness - be well, my dear, and take care.

  11. What a snappy suit Sheila. Well done on ridding the planet of that tentacled thing, we wouldn't want to be dealing with that on top of the toilet roll situation! Really enjoyed this fun post and thank you for giving us the message on the tie.

    1. Thanks so much, Juliana! Yes, lack of toilet paper is not nearly as scary as Nyogtha! Glad you enjoyed it. I love the message on the tie!

  14. What a hoot, Sheila (especially the bit where agent V alerted you after he'd finished napping). Loved the videos and the explanation of how you made the props. Your storytelling skills are almost overtaking the fabulous fashion.

Now, can you explain why I feel uneasy every time I pass the kitchen sink? I just can't seem to remember why...?!

  15. Too fun and funny for words! Thank you guys so much for this award worthy post and all of the hard work + attention to deal that you poured into it. You knocked it out of the ballpark and will help bring a much needed dose of comic relief to scores of folks (myself included).
