Neoprene and Silk

Monday, blerg. Let's distract ourselves with clothes! Weee!
I built the outfit around this new-to-me neoprene top. Gotta wear the new stuff!

  • Top - Club Monaco, thrifted; purchased here for $12.99 (new, with the bead bag still attached)
  • Trousers - J. Crew, consignment; last seen here (4th outfit) in July with black and white
  • Shoes - Prepare Hi Steady, Fluevog; last worn here in May with purple tigers
  • Jacket (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last seen here in June

The shape of the top is slightly trapezey, so I wanted a slim bottom to balance the wideness. I wore a black camisole under the main top to avoid any flashes of belly skin in the office. I'm fine with arms up to my 'pits showing, but not my stomach.
"My stomach is far nicer than yours."
I liked how the regular floral "dots" on these silk pants echoed the beaded floral shapes on the top.

I also showed a fair bit of my back ink today. Overall, I liked this top, although it did snag a bit and the beaded parts were somewhat pokey on my bare arms.
"My claws are also somewhat pokey."
It probably will not last the summer with me - top, you're hereby on probation.

Outerwear - it's forest fire season here in BC, and we're starting to see the same haze we had last year. It looks cloudy out, but the light is more orangey.
This light jacket is more for sunblock. I was getting tired of the white linen one!

The stuff:
My "Disco Dutch" shoes! Sturdy, comfortable, and non-injurious to my leg.

Gold bling:
None of which is actual gold.

  • Mesh cuff - vintage 60s, Mom's
  • Cuff - thrifted
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Earrings - Biko, consignment

  1. I love your silk trousers every time I see them. I would love a similar pair as I expect they are really comfy as well as elegant.

    1. They are comfy, Rebecca, as they breathe really well - however, they aren't stretch silk so they don't have any give to them.

  4. Too bad the top is having issues, as it's looking fantastic with those divine silk trousers. The shoes are beyond awesome, but I'm probably saying that every time I see them! xxx

    1. I do like the top - I might try it with a shirt under it - but it's on the chopping block. Thanks so much, Ann!

  5. I really like that top, although it's a shame it wasn't so nice to wear. Looks great with the pants though! :)

    1. Yup, but I am trying it again today. The "print" on the top is actually beaded.
