Lace, Velvet and the Queen of Matchy-Town

Well, we made it - the week is nearly at an end. Thursday calls for a stylish but comfy outfit.
Jammy dress! This lovely velour (KLASSY) dress is heaven to wear.

  • Dress - Ichi; last worn here in February for Valentine's Day with matchy burgundies
  • Shoes - Nanette Lepore, thrifted; last seen here in July with lace and sparkles
  • Jacket (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last worn here on Monday

Does velvet or velour work for summer? Yes, when it's done with white/cream/lace accessories, why not?
"I spot some tasty tassels."
Just like the last time I wore this dress, my accessories match - and so does my hair, noted one of my colleagues. "I'm the Queen of Matchy-Town," I declared.

You may have noticed my hair's getting lighter - I'm going a lighter shade of purple as I grow out my white. Yes, I have white hair under there...at least in parts.
"I'm miffed that you won't let me chew on your shoes."
The plan is to have it allover light lavender. It will take a while as the old colour fades/grows out. It may end up not to my satisfaction, but it's just hair and I can colour it again if I feel like it. I'm never afraid to change my hair!

Outerwear - didn't really need it.
"You could let me in the hall to make up for lack of tassel-chewing."
Of course, the velvet velcroed itself to the jacket immediately. Annoying.

The stuff:
These shoes have been pretty good this summer - I'm inclined to forgive any small fit issues (a bit scratchy) because they are so pretty.

Gold and white bling.
Pieces I love to wear. I'd forgotten about these earrings - Mom, you might recognize them, since I "liberated" them from your jewelry box along with that cuff and the gold belt (not this one) back in 1985ish. Hee. I wish I had pictures of some of my old outfits from high school...

  • Belt - Mom's, vintage 70s
  • Cuff - Mom's, vintage '70
  • Bracelet - Lia Sophia, thrifted
  • Earrings - Mom's, vintage 70s

I'll be back on Sunday with a party outfit! Have a wonderful weekend, my friends! Thank you so much for visiting!

  1. Ooh, velour! I love that material. BTW, I'm so excited -- I got my first pair of Fluevogs! The boots I was lusting after before. They came in the coolest box with a handful of stickers like "Embrace Peculiarity." Thank YOU for putting this designer on my map. You're the first person to tell me about him and now I see his stores in every city I visit.

  3. I'd never thought to wear velvet (velour!) in Summer, but you've nailed it paired with the lacy camisole and shoes! I did wonder about your lighter hair colour, but now it makes sense: I think it will look fantastic in allover light lavender! Have a fantastic weekend, Sheila xxx

  4. I always thought it would be too warm a fabric to wear in summer - I am regretting not getting that velvet blazer now that I saw in the opshop, haha! It's a lovely dress on you.

Hope that you have a wonderful weekend ahead of you! :)

    1. The hair colour will take time - I don't want to over-process it. It will fade gradually.

  7. Matchy, matchy perfection here Sheila!
What makes this whole outfit especially wonderful is your hair color. I also love the jacket and like you, always get annoyed when a jacket clings to my dress.
Good velvet is so soft and wonderful to wear. No wonder you are smiling !
Crushing on those designer lace espadrilles!
Certainly one should wear yummy velvet all year round. I am looking very forward to seeing your party dress.
