Dec 12th - Outfit #11 - Burgundy Shoes

Ah, another late night. I stayed a couple of extra hours at work to get some stuff done, then met up with some friends for a "12-12-12" drink. And now it's late and I'm so tired...

But let's move on.
Holy smokes, I am going to be so happy when it's light in the morning again!

That's my same burgundy velvet top, grey jacket and shoes that I last wore together here with my wide-legged high-waisted pants. Not exactly creative, but I wanted to showcase this gorgeous wool plaid skirt. I like this outfit better.
The skirt is by Mister Leonard, it's made in Canada and I bought it here in September (scroll down and check out that vintage 70s label!). I paid $7.50 for it - such a score. I loved wearing it all day - the only thing that would make it better would be if it had pockets.

One thing that I didn't love wearing all day were these shoes. Arg, these are just too high for me to wear all day. However, I love them and I don't plan to get rid of them after this month's capsule, but they will move up into the "party shoes" section of my closet. Strangely the other Fluevogs that I have with this heel don't hurt my feet as much as these ones.

All day, I was singing Patty Griffin's "Burgundy Shoes" while I wore this. Do yourself a favour and listen to this YouTube clip (there's no video, so just listen). I am a big fan of hers, so I'm linking 'cause I love. It's a beautiful song about a little girl with burgundy shoes and her mom, riding the bus.

Jacket (illegible label, Camden Market), top (ACW, consignment), skirt (Mister Leonard, thrifted), shoes (Listen Up Audrey, Fluevogs), belt (Plum), earrings (locally made), ring (Wendy Brandes).

  1. I have a top similar in color to the one you're wearing and it is so pretty. Love that skirt also.

  2. I love these colours, and that plaid skirt is fantastic - love the gathers, as well as the jacket's collar, cuffs, and shaping.

But aw, poor feets! I hear you on the tiredness - this time of year is like a project on being over-extended!

  4. Great plaid skirt, Sheila (cut on the bias, I think?) - it looks swirly. Sorry the shoes ached; they are stunning.

  12. Those shoes are absolutely gorgeous. I like the older Listen up heels better than the new ones. That skirt is PERFECT as Lynne put it. It also looks very snuggly warm too.
