Today, I put up the Hallowe'en decorations at work. I also made spooky signs encouraging people to dress up and trick-or-treat at my desk (I'm the receptionist). It made me all excited about Hallowe'en! We are going to a costume party/burlesque show this weekend, and my head is full of my costume.
Anyway, I figured out how to brighten up my stair pictures. It's actually very gloomy in the mornings.
This outfit is all repeats. The overly baggy mustard sweater (last worn here, scroll waaaaay down past the party pictures) worked much better tucked into this lovely vintage pencil skirt (last worn here with blue and mustard).Funky tights and my tan shoes (last worn here on my birthday) on the bottom. It just poured today, and I got soaked going out for lunch with Mom. My shoes got wet twice and are fine!
The leather belt was one of my first purchases when I lost weight. I have a full-length vintage navy blue slip on under this for extra warmth.

Check out the awesome gift that Mom gave me for my birthday:
So. Freaking. Awesome.
It's big, it's heavy, it's swallows all flying around my neck. She got it in Sidney (a little town about 35 minutes drive north of Victoria). The brand is Summoning. I love this! Thanks, Mom!
The Book Club babes are on their way! I'm hosting our discussion of Woody Allen's "Mere Anarchy" (my verdict: don't bother), and I've made us all dinner! We're having baked tortilla chips with red pepper hommous and salsa, 3-bean split pea soup (with smoked back bacon, mushrooms and carrots), and for dessert, chocolate cupcakes with organic chocolate drizzle, fresh organic raspberries and a ginger molasses cookie. I've also got wine (red or white?) and coffee. Everything is non-dairy, everything but the cupcakes are gluten-free, and it's WW-friendly. Yum!
Sweater (Pria), skirt (Julius, vintage, thrifted), shoes (Seychelles, consignment), belt (Plum), mink rose (consignment), bee (gift from Megan Mae), bracelet (Club Monaco), spinner ring (Twang & Pearl), gold/blue ring (the Louvre Gift Shop).
Classic with a fun twist! I like your personal touch on every outfit you feature!
ReplyDeleteThat necklace is too cool! I love the color of the sweater, even if it is a bit "full".
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the pairing of the mink rose and the bee. And the necklace is just fabulous. Hope you'll treat us to pics of the burlesque outfit.
ReplyDeleteYou bet! I'll have pictures of all the cool costumes. :)
DeleteLooking fab as always, and I can't wait to see your costume. You get the best prezzies! The bee is too cute, and the necklace is mind-blowing. Very "the Birds"- perfect for Halloween-season
ReplyDeleteYay! Bee pin on a gorgeous yellow sweater. You'll cook up something fun for Halloween. I'm tempted between posting a really old costume photo I found this week or just posting an outfit plus kitty ears. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour outfits are always spot on. I am crazy about your shoes. And I'm also impressed with your accomplishments re the weight loss. I need to lose badly and I'm having trouble focusing. Bummer. Anyway, you look terrific.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful necklace! Can't wait to see how you wear it :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the bright sweater with the patterned pencil skirt. Would love to see your work decorations if you are allowed to share! We don't really do a lot for Halloween here.
I'll send the pics home tonight and post them later.
DeleteLovely pencil skirt and I love the sweater with it. It's a perfect October colour. The plaid/stripes on the skirt look really good with the ornate tights. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove this! The yellow sweater is such a warm, happy color! And I love the fuzzy rose! I'm pretty sure my kitties would stalk it too!
ReplyDeleteI am really liking this month's capsule, Sheila! Another gorgeous outfit jam-packed with special details - every little bit of it divine, from the collar and mink pouf to the oval belt, plaid skirt + tights, and the criss-crossed shoes. Wow! Beautiful jewelry as well, and your birthday gift necklace is out of this world!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Nicely-brightened photo! What is your strategy?
DeleteI turn on the "Backlit" setting on my camera. It's usually on the back of the camera (I just have a little junky point & shoot). It sucks in all available light and brightens up the image a lot. My indoor pictures would be really dark without it. If you look at any pictures more than 2 years old on my blog, you can see that they're often really dark - I didn't know about the "backlit ON" until I read about it on Kasmira's blog.
DeleteThank you Sheila, that is awesome!
DeleteOoh! Really good necklace.
ReplyDeleteAlso: I love the way even though this is all repeats, the pieces all look entirely new when put together this way.
OO what a gorgeous fall outfit!! love what you did with the bee pin and Vizzini's rose on the collar!
ReplyDeleteI adore the swallows necklace!
What a beautiful necklace you mom got you :)
ReplyDeleteI am actually lusting after your gorgeous tights.... and as usually your attention to detail is magnificent- the flower + bee are peeerfect-
Oooooh, a mink rose, so lovely! And why don't my funky tights ever look as good on me as yours do on you? :)
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic. I like that mustard colour on you. The twice-soaked shoes - it's always a hazard in this area this time of year. Oh well, glad your shoes can take it. You are too right - that necklace is perfect! I usually like Woody Allen - too bad the book gets the thumbs down.
ReplyDeleteOooh, love the fall colors of this one. Mustard is just the best.
ReplyDeleteThe mustard jumper looks great tucked in. So perfectly Autumnal. And I bet Vizzini was looking longingly at the mink flower brooch!
ReplyDeleteI've got the same necklace and I love it. I like your tights and shoes.
