Monday Blues and Plaid Coat-Dress

We awoke to a lovely sunny morning...which turned to rain and even a bit of snow(!) by the end of the day.
You don't fool me, March - you're mostly a winter month! I'm ready for you!

  • Turtleneck - Wanko, thrifted; last seen here in January, layered under mustard
  • Coat-dress - Saxx, consignment; first worn here in January with black and bitey things
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last seen here with the Murder Mystery Dress in December 2023 (same belt too!)
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted; last worn here in November 2023

I stayed warm (and cool) in a wool sweater, thick tights, and a vintage half-slip.
The dress is coat-weight, so very thick.

It's snuggly like a blanket.
The lack of sleeves helps regulate temperatures.

As do the pockets!
Good for hands and carrying other things.

Speaking of other things...I found a sword on the sidewalk.
It's only about 3 inches long, but it is metal. I might put a jump-ring on it so I can wear it as a pendant.

I thought this leather blazer would be sufficient for outerwear - after all, it was sunny out in the morning.
Okay, March, you fooled me on the coat. I WAS feeling rather blurry, why do you ask?

I ended up freezing in this blazer on the way home.
And kept my hands warm in these pockets all the way home.

Accoutrements:
A bit of navy and yellow to pick out the colours in the plaid coat-dress.

  • Beret - consignment
  • Silk scarf - Forele, consignment
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

The stuff:
I often wear the shoes and belt together - they are nearly the same blue. These heels are still good for me at the office, thank goodness.

Blue and black bling:
All the matchy!

  • Rohesia Belt - Fluevog
  • Plastic cuff - consignment
  • Black eelskin bangle - vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Necklace - Heidi Daus, thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair

How's the weather where you are?

  1. That's a fabulous outfit but sorry that you froze on the way home, never good! That sword is a curious find and definitely worth converting into a pendant.
It's currently 2°C but all being well I'll be eating al fresco later today in 23°C heat! xxx

  2. The blues are fabulous, especially the shiny shoes! And the coat-dress is a win, very flattering with the belt and I can appreciate its coziness. On Sunday we had shorts weather; today it’s rainy, windy and chilly. The March to spring is often filled with roller coaster weather, but those sunny warm days are quite the tease!
    Cheers from NY, Laurie

  3. I never know what to wear in the mornings these days, and often end up either freezing or sweating by the end of the day.
I'm swooning over that coat dress, which I'd wear in a heartbeat, and yes, you should definitely turn the sword into a pendant! xxx

  4. The coat dress is beautiful and a perfect solution to these in between days, being sleeveless. Loving the blue accent accessories too.
It's a shame you were so cold on the way home. I got caught out at the weekend. It was the opposite issue for me. I was well prepared in a sheepskin coat and then the sun offered up some unexpected heat and I was forced to carry it! x
