I needed lots of stretch and give in my outfit for all the running around I did. I dashed up and down stairs, lugged massive platters of sandwiches, and put on my best smiley face.

I debuted this gorgeous new-to-me jacket - it's such a quality garment. Everyone oohed and ahhed.
It's very Chanel-esque, isn't it?
The next time I style it, I'll contrast the classic look with something more rock-and-roll. This felt a little staid to me.

I can see it with a graphic tee, a miniskirt, and a pair of boots, my new favourite outfit formula.
This outfit didn't quite feel like me - but I blame the proportions, not any of the pieces individually.
Imagine a contrasting top (like white) or a belt to break up the two blacks, or even a shorter skirt.
I thought about belting the jacket, but it is a thick and somewhat stiff fabric (thick woven wool). I did doff the jacket a few times when I overheated, and showed off this new-to-me ultra-crinkly top, which I loved.
It's going to get worn a lot - I'll get it down to pennies per wear!

I have very few scarves with green in them. Weird.

Oh, I do appreciate all your green bling - the color paired with silver and the shapes! I think the jacket is a wonderful piece but interestingly preferred your outfit better without it. I bet it has to do with the proportions, as you noted regarding the jacket perhaps with a shorter skirt. I bet the shoes were a perfect height for hauling goodies up and down and being on your feet for a busy day. Looking quite professional with this outfit!
ReplyDeleteCheers from a warming NY, Laurie
You're right about the proportions, individually great pieces, together a bit too grown up and sensible and that, my friend, is not you at all!
ReplyDeleteLove the earrings, always love the leather coat and like to hear of loads of people being able to see you in all your glory at work! xxx
Although like you I do love the individual pieces, I agree about the proportions, and I think the outfit is overall too classic for you. I can't wait to see you styling that marvellous jacket in a more Sheila worthy outfit! Loving the green bling and peacock brooch though!
ReplyDeleteAfter your busiest day of the past 4 years, I bet you are ready for your day off! I hope your Mom is feeling better and you're having an adventure together! xxx
Wow, I never thought of clothes as suited to a busy day but that makes perfect sense. Especially with female clothing that often feels tight or binding. Stretchy fabrics are comfortable.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. It's the proportions. It's a little safe compared to your usual style. We know you'll nail it! Gorgeous individual pieces though, as ever. x
