Brocade Roses and Grey

Today's outfit features my Very Expensive Modelling Skirt - I need to get that Cost Per Wear down!
As 99% of my wardrobe gets worn to work, of course, I had to style this up for my coworkers.

  • Wool/silk sweater - Iris Setlakwe, thrifted; last worn here in November 2023 when I had blue hair
  • Skirt - Erdem, consignment; first worn here last week for our modelling session
  • Boots - Baroque Velasquez, Fluevog; last seen here in October 2023 for birthday lunch with Mom
  • Coat (below) - Mallia, consignment; last worn here in February

My colleagues admired the almost-3D roses in the rich brocade.
I'd told loads of them about our modelling adventure, so they were intensely curious to see the skirt.

Everyone was awed! Jessica got right into it and inspected the whole thing, admiring the covered seams, the velvet dots, the silk lining, and even the back-side of the brocade.
I paired it with a simple grey top.

Is it simple, though? The body and cuffs are all merino wool.
And the sleeves are sheer silk. And it has that funky neck and V-opening in front.

It was gloomy and cold in the morning.
I haven't put any of my cashmere coats away just yet (and my mink coat is still waiting, just in case we get some late snow). I am looking longingly at my thin jackets...

I defiantly wore my sunglasses, even though it was solid grey (and spitty rain) in the morning.
It worked! By the time I walked home, it was sunny.

Accoutrements:
The usual suspects.

  • Beret - consignment
  • Scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Gloves - Picabo, Powell River

The stuff:
This might be the last wearing of these gorgeous boots for the season - I don't keep them out for spring/summer.

Bold bling:
Just a few of my faves.

  • Lucite/silver cuff - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
  • Chain cuff - consignment
  • Silver earrings - Israeli, consignment
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair

  1. Cashmere coats - plural? Lucky you. I have cashmere gloves and they are beyond cosy and warm. Your black coat teamed with the red beret is beautiful!
The boots and your new skirt are perfect partners too! x

  2. Not just your Very Expensive Modelling Skirt is playing a starring role in this outfit, I absolutely love the "simple" grey top (those sleeves! that funky neckline!) and the amazing boots, which I think were made to worn with the skirt!
I haven't put any of my Winter coats away yet either and judging from the weather forecast I won't be doing so any time soon. I so need Spring to properly arrive! xxx

  4. I'm reading backwards so I know not of the expensive modelling skirt but anything brocade gets a big thumbs up from me.
I won't insult that lovely top by calling it grey (that's a more hated colour than beige in my opinion), I shall describe it as dove silver and bow to its fabulous sleeves! xxx

  5. This skirt is a rockstar. It deserves its own sunglasses. :)
