Murder-Mystery and Roses

I felt a whole lot better today, even though my energy levels are sapped. I can only do one big burst of energy physically and then I'm done.
Today's armour is the Murder Mystery Dress. Distraction with pattern!

  • Dress - Scotch & Soda by Maison Scotch, consignment; last seen here in January with triple snakes
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last worn here in October with big plaid
  • Leather coat (below) - Danier Leather; last seen here in September

Who doesn't like a Jammy Dress with a story? You can view close-ups of the pattern and each of the cartouches here (scroll down).
A sign of a potential Jammy Dress is versatility.

This is the fourth time I've worn this dress and I've done a different combination of accessories every time.
I did my physical stuff, including going up and down stepladders, for an hour in the morning while wearing my walking shoes.

But I walked in these blue beauties to Earl's for lunch with some of my amazing female work-friends.
They were very impressed with the coat, as well as my overall vibe.

I got a few second looks on the bus ride home.
Doesn't everyone wear fedoras and red leather?

Accoutrements:
It's been drizzly, which is the weather for wool fedoras - they do a wonderful job of keeping the rain off.

  • Hat - thrifted
  • Scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Leather gloves - Lord & Taylor, thrifted

The stuff:
This is the perfect shoe - a great shape, a stable heel, balanced so that I could walk 6 blocks with not even a twinge.

Rosy bling:
One bigass rose and two wee ones.

  • Belt - Rohesia Belt, Fluevog; last worn here
  • Leather/steel cuff - Rimanchik
  • Enameled cuff - thrifted
  • Earrings - Betsey Johnson, swap from Cat
  • Crystal heart - sidewalk find
  • Kyanite/silver ring - consignment
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

Phew, so glad to have a day off tomorrow - I'm excited to be seeing Mom again! Stay tuned for Mom-Day Adventures!

  1. There’s no mystery here, one and done jammy dress with enough pizzazz to lift the spirits! The blue fedora and the vibrant shoes are excellent bookends. I might have been tempted to keep the hat on just for that reason. :) And the Danier red leather coat! I LOVE the color and the cut, and I’m certain it keeps you comfortably warm and dry.

Most of all, glad each day finds you feeling a bit better. Being with your Mom tomorrow will continue to fuel your return to full Sheila. :)

    Cheers, Laurie

  2. Ah, the Murder Mystery Dress! How wonderful to see it again. Surely, wearing such a magnificent garment is an instant pick-me-up? Loving the pops of solid blue and red with it. I wish more people wore fedoras and leather!
Glad to hear you're a whole lot better and don't you worry, your energy levels will soon be topped up. Says she who is low on energy herself ...
Hope you're having a wonderful Mom-Day adventure today! xxx
