Turquoise and Brown Rhinestone Cowgirl

One of my colleagues sang, "She's a Rhinestone Cowgirl" to me at work today.
I cackled with glee - I've missed people in the office. Their reactions to my outfits are often the best part of my day.

  • Leather jacket - Eileen Fisher, thrifted; purchased here for $62.95
  • Dress - Betsey Johnson, thrifted; purchased here for $44.99
  • Boots - Donald J. Pliner, consignment, Sidney; last worn here in October 2023 with vintage suede and leopard

I wanted to sneak in wearings of both this dress and the leather waterfall jacket before I do my closet swap-over.
With new items, I like do a try-on the night before, to make sure I get my proportions right.

Which is how I ended up belting the leather jacket.
Much better than...

...this, which looks droopy with the dress. I'd wear this in a more casual outfit in a heartbeat, though.
The jacket was lovely to wear all day - I did roll the cuffs in the afternoon so that the sleeves would stay scrunched up my arm. I'm a fan of the scrunched sleeve - how else can you see my bracelets?

Here's the dress on its own (I have a vintage camisole on under it). It's a little poufy in the front boobular section.
And no pockets! Grrrr.

I'm afraid we have yet to achieve Peak Turquoise Dress.
Good from the back, though.

I might just layer stuff with it and wear it on its own in the summer.
I'm going to move the brown jacket in to my coat closet - it's cut more like an outerwear piece.

Incognito. Voila!
It was a bit chilly, but at least the sun was out.

I'll take it!
It does feel like spring is here (famous last words).

Accoutrements:
I was very happy with how well this scarf went with the ensemble.

  • Scarf - Banana Republic, consignment
  • Gloves - Principles, thrifted

The stuff:
I was happy to have zero toe issues with these skinny boots. They're so fun - look at those heels!

Blue and gold bling:
I knotted the long crystal strand to make it shorter.

  • Belt - Emmanuel, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Crystal necklace/bracelet - Swarovski, CAB's mom
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Bangle - thrifted
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Scarab ring - Heidi Daus, vintage mall, gift from L

The little turquoise bead fell out of the top of the scarab ring at some point today, which was fine as it was scratched anyway. I'll have to stick a crystal in there.

  1. Loving the cowgirl vibe, Sheila! You were right to belt the jacket, the proportions are just right and I always love to see those tremendous cowboy boots. Like the colour of the dress on you but as a garment its not speaking to me - maybe layered up it might be a bit more exciting.
    Come on, Spring! xxx

  3. Great outfit with a killer colour combo, but I confess, my eyes went straight to those boots. I think I'm in love! Those heels! x

  4. Wonderful colors for the dress and boots, everything goes so well together (of course!), and the proportions are perfect! Nice to be able to style the dress beyond being a “dressy” dress, makes it more versatile.

  5. I think you got the proportions just right by belting that jacket, and I am loving the pairing of turquoise and brown. I'm not 100% convinced on the dress - mainly due to the pouffy front boobular section - but the boots do make up for that minor issue. They're absolutely stunning. Oh, and please do thank your colleague for the earworm :-) xxx

  8. Ah, the belt really made the jacket work!
I agree it is not peak turquoise dress- the bottom is gawjus but the top is not as perfect. You make it work though! Kezzie x

  9. I like the dress layered with the belted jacket and the boots. I think it is a bit risky on its own and in need of something else. But that is me.
