Staid Plaid, Beaded Snakes and Welsh Plaid

The weather's turned sour on us, with a chilly wind and cloudy skies. I didn't actually mind, as I wanted a colder day to wear this outfit.
A blouse I cannot sweat in, and a re-wear test of this plaid skirt - both needed cooler temps.

  • Blouse - Topshop, thrifted; last worn here in October 2022 with gold pleats
  • Skirt - Liz Claiborne, thrifted; first seen here in December 2023 with a golden top
  • Shoes - Summertime Moonbeams, Fluevog, consignment; last worn here in February with paisley and a cream fuzzy dress
  • Cape - Dafydd Snowdon, Wales, vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in September 2023

This is such a gorgeous top - that is a beaded snake on the front.
I know it's hard to see - it's a good "in person" top - click here for a close-up.

This top is actually wearable since Linda put a side zip in (hand-stitched!).
The plaid wool skirt was...fine. It's really comfortable, but I find myself wishing it had a more interesting pattern. Overall, it's a little staid for my tastes, so off to the bag it goes.

See the beaded snake tail coming down the back of the blouse?
I always have to turn around and show it off when someone admires the front.

Outerwear - I hadn't worn this lovely cape this season, and thought it went well with the ensemble. This was a missed brooch opportunity, though - I kicked myself for forgetting.
Capes are perfect for the "shoulder season," that period between winter/spring or summer/autumn when the weather is so changeable. This is a Welsh beauty, picked up four years ago for $49.99 and worn well over a dozen times.

Accoutrements:
The blooms on the Courreges scarf reminded me of the pink blossoms that are out now.

  • Scarf - Andre Courreges, vintage, consignment
  • Gloves - Ralph Lauren, thrifted

The stuff:
Easing my feet back down after the high heels yesterday - these are a two inch heel.

Gold bling:
The earrings were a good match!

  • Gold leafy bracelet - thrifted, Sidney
  • Medallion bracelet - J. Crew, consignment
  • Amber ring - c. 1996
  • Jade/brass ring - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Earrings - local

I can't just mention blossoms without a picture! This is from my walk home yesterday in the bright sun.
Looking high up over my head - see the moon?

  1. Your photo of the blossom against the blue sky with added moon is fabulous!
That Topper blouse is a favourite of mine. I spotted the one you were wearing in a charity shop yesterday! I'm not a huge fan of the skirt but I do like the contrast between the checks and Welsh Wool cape. xxx

  3. Thank you for the blossom photo, I'll be sharing one myself in my next post! Spreading some Spring vibes and all that!
Your beaded snake blouse is a stunner, and as always I'm swooning over that Welsh wool cape! Your gold bling and Courrèges scarf are definitely swoon-worthy well. Like Vix, I'm not a fan of the skirt, so I was glad to read into the bag it went! xxx

  5. Ooh I can't get enough blossom!
That Welsh wool cape is stunning! I think you've done a great job with the outfit (love the blouse too), in spite of the staid skirt.
