Weekend Wrap-Up: Fancy Friday in Roses and Swordfish

Hello! I'm back! And it's been a lovely weekend, not full of much of anything other than getting in my time with my fam, L and Vizzini. Life's getting busier and I really do need that downtime to psych myself up to face the world.

Armouring up in my clothes is a frequent tool I use.
Kicking off my weekend in style! I felt absolutely marvelous in this outfit.

  • Top - Lyman by Frank Lyman, thrifted; purchased here for $10.00
  • Trousers - Zara, thrifted; last worn here in June with not-Van Herpen and floral
  • Shoes - Marquess Swordfish Floyd, Fluevog; first seen here a couple of weeks ago for a Mom-Day adventure

I adored wearing my new-to-me sheer mesh shirt.
The sleeves have such DRAMA!

I twisted them up and tucked them inside the slimmer part of the sleeve to eat my lunch, use the sink and go to the bathroom.
I enjoyed flopping them around otherwise.

My Big Lady Boss Pants always get comments.
I really liked them with the top and the shoes - it all just worked well for me, which felt like clothing karma after the weird week it's been.

Masked up.
I am looking forward to wearing the top again. This is the seventh wearing of the trousers since I bought them in February 2020.

Incognito.
This is how I looked out in the wild - I walked to and from work in the shoes.

Accoutrements:
I flipped the scarf around to cover my upper back on the way home.

  • Scarf - La Dear, vintage, thrifted
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
As noted, I wore these all day - they are so comfy! I intend to wear these to death, so get used to 'em.

Rosy bling:
Those giant sleeves are perfect for showing off bracelets and rings.

  • Silver/enamel cuff - Mexican, thrifted
  • Bangle - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Sidney
  • Silver/aventurine ring - consignment
  • Silver/enamel ring - antique shop, Sidney
  • Earrings - Betsey Johnson, swap from Cat

L and I hung out and played board games all weekend, plus we played Ulti on Saturday morning. We went out for brunch afterwards - I wore my game gear - and grocery shopped, followed by more board games, naps and chill-out time. No further outfits (a nice break), but I did capture this.
"Oh, I thought we were still napping."

He's been very happy with the warm weather (not too hot, not too cold).

Thanks so much for popping by!

  3. I ditto Cynthia’s and Mica’s comments! Before even seeing what you wrote I immediately thought ‘this is a perfect empowering outfit’ and wasn’t surprised to then read that you felt marvelous in it. Sometimes an outfit is just right and it radiates within which then radiates without. :)

    Glad you enjoyed your weekend!

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Yup, I swooshed around, feeling very Boss-ish and empowered. I love it when an outfit sings for me. Thank you, Laurie - I hope you had a good one too!

    2. I like your choice of words…when an outfit sings to me. ❤️
Weekend was lovely, thanks, spent it celebrating a baby with family who I last saw two weekends ago. Such a sweet return to seeing family in person and more frequently after so many months of not being able to.

  6. Quite envious of your relaxing weekend, as we are still running away from next door's noise ...
Anyway, let's talk about clothes! Your sheer mesh shirt is gorgeous, and I'm loving the drama supplied by the sleeves, which I would definitely have gotten in twist by the end of the day :-)
Perfect pairing with the red Lady Boss Pants! And oh, hello Vizzini! xxx

  7. What a fab outfit, Sheila. I remember those tops from the 1990s with the very impractical sleeves but oh they do look good. Love your big boss lady pants and the new shoes are MAGNIFICENT!!

Hope you have a great week,
    xxx

    1. I think this one is from the last "giant sleeves" era (mid-00s), not as early as the 90s. Thank you, Vronni! Happy week to you!

  10. Girl, those SLEEVES....I always admire them on others, but as a cellist in my former life, I was never able to pull them off (so to speak). Guns and Roses for sure. :-)

    1. I get that, Zida! In my old "normal" the sleeves would have severely gotten in my way. Yes! GnR for sure!
