Butterflies, Zebra and Dots, Oh My!

Thanks so much to all of you for your thoughts and comments - I truly do appreciate them. Vizzini's eyesight is actually getting better - he can easily spot motion now, which is amazing. He even chased a sunspot yesterday!

In addition to my furry fam's health improving, I'm trying to boost my own mental health with a jolt.
Butterflies, zebra print and dots! You couldn't miss me!

  • Blazer - Escada, vintage 80s, thrifted, Powell River; purchased here for $15.00
  • Top - Beechers Brook, vintage 90s, thrifted; first worn here in June with pajamas in public
  • Skirt - Compania Fantastica, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here (2nd outfit) in August for a Sidney thrift shop with Cat
  • Shoes - Sol Sana; last worn here in August with eyelet and optic

All this pattern and colour makes me happy.
I immediately thought of this creamsicle orange polka dot pleated skirt to pair with this new-to-me vintage blazer.

The skirt will be packed away for summer, but I might keep the blazer out.
I'll have to see how it works with my fall/winter wardrobe.

I freakin' loved wearing this blazer all day.
The lovely lady at the post office admired it.

I waggled my shoulder pads at her.
I did not wear it open like this at all.

Nor did I take it off at any time.
I just like showing the options.

Masked up.
Good sized pockets in the blazer - I carried my keys and mp3 player in them while walking to/from work.

Incognito.
Who is that floral/zebra/dotty woman?

Accoutrements:
Like this scarf was NOT going to be worn with this outfit!

  • Scarf - vintage, consignment
  • Mask - Lazy Susan's

The stuff:
Another pair of shoes that will be packed away for the season. These are one of my favourite pairs - so comfy!

Multi bling:
I shoved the blazer sleeves up (this is my usual thing), so the bracelets worked well.

  • Black and white bangles - consignment
  • Earrings - Betsey Johnson, swap from Cat
  • Orange bracelet/ring - Italy, vintage 60s, vintage mall
  • Steel/acrylic ring - Calvin Klein, thrifted

  1. Hi Sheila! I've been super preoccupied and ended up "saving" your posts to read at once-I am so sorry to hear about Vizzini but glad he's adjusting/improving and doing well otherwise. I feel you on boosting mental health; planning my outfits gives me a sense of control and a creative outlet (although when my anxiety flares sometimes I don't care much about anything else). Love the outfit, you are definitely fearless with color. I like orange but it strikes me as one of those colors that can be especially tough to coordinate.I was intrigued to see you found a pair of United Nude boots in an earlier post. I just discovered them and bought these https://unitednude.com/products/wa-run-lo-azure?variant=43311760867566
(I hope the link works!) These sandals are wacky but they are so 80s I absolutely love them! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers,
    Patricia

  3. Oh yes, color and fun patterns, makes me happy and boosts my mood too. Thank you! :) (Did you know you were dressing to help my spirits, as well. ;)) Have to add that I also like the outfit with the blazer open because then there’s even more color popping for pleasure.

Delighted to hear about Vizzini’s improvement! Here’s to his continued recovery and plenty of sunbeams for him to follow.

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. Butterfly print has a name?? This is new to me! Mariposa was the name of a Canadian mall chain store when I was a teen in the 80s!

  12. Such good news for Vizzini, yey! I hope things continue to improve for him on the medication and we can worry about him a little less, I'm often thinking of him! And I am loving this blazer on you - I wouldn't have thought of mixing it with the polka dots but I can see why you did, it just really works on you!
