Work outfit.
I wanted to wear this silk blouse again, and it won't be staying out for fall/winter.
I don't keep standalone blouses out, as it's too chilly to have bare arms once the weather flips to cold.
I'll keep these pants out, though. I love the colour and they are quite thick.

L said this blouse reminded him of a dress I used to own, a black velvet one with giant poppies on it.
There's a small pic of me in it, dressed up as Mae West for a part in late 1999, here.
The dress was donated long ago, but at least I have the picture. Having pictures of all my clothes (and shoes) is one of the reasons I started my blog.
I find it funny that I picked the same pants to wear with these shoes on their second outing.

- Scarf - Lanvin, vintage 70s, consignment
- Mask - by Mom
The stuff:
I know, freaky shoes, right? The cantilevered heel is perfectly balanced - these are far more comfy than they look.

- Belt - Leather World
- Buckle - Shi Studio, thrifted
- Metal mesh bracelet - Sidney
- Earrings - thrifted
- Shield ring - Nine West
- Ball ring - Sidney
I changed into a "house-fit" when I got home from work - hilariously, Mom had the same idea.
Stripes! Thank you so much for coming over, Mom - I've been struggling a bit lately and it really helped me to just talk things out. I love you! Vizzini was happy to see her, but would not sit on her lap.
"Give me kitty treats and I might consider it."
Love that chevron-striped top - it has little ties in the centre front at the hem. Mom got that necklace when we went to New York City together.
Vizzini was confused as to why I was home mid-day and not feeding him.
"You're also sitting incorrectly for me to sleep on you."
Note his pupils almost look normal again.
Mom was working her Cat Whisperer magic on him.
"I feel the strange urge to rub all over your shoes."
Which he did, thanks a bunch, buddy.
Better feed the monster.
And I'm now off for the weekend, my friends - I wish you all calm, joy and warm tummies. I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure! Thanks so much for dropping by.
I’m with your colleague, this is another fabulously colorful outfit, drapes flatteringly on you, and it absolutely brightens the spirit!
ReplyDeleteIt’s no surprise to me that you and your Mom were both wearing black & white strips. (Hi Helen! I like the neckline of your top and how it is perfect for the necklace..) You two have an uncanny matching sense when it comes to dressing for Mom Day Adventures/Visits.
The first picture of Vizzini sitting on the blue rug is wonderful! Yay for his improving sight!
Inspired by you, yesterday I went shopping. Alas, not second hand but your sartorial sense inspired me, along with your determination to make a daily effort for how you attire yourself. I purchased two mostly cotton sweaters, a long sleeve shirt and a pair of pants. Last winter I dressed for warmth though felt like a shlub in my outfits. This time I am upping the ante - warmth with style and some pizzazz! My issue is I Cannot wear wool, and need petites. It is unbelievably difficult to find clothing in my size. Thankfully, this one brand (Talbots) Carrie’s a slew of petites. A little pricy but I’m going with the theory buy a few good quality pieces and they will last.
May your weekend be SUPER!
Cheers, Laurie
I'm sure your colleagues appreciate your pop of color cheer. Mom's are great to hang out with as are daughter's.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a mom to talk things out. You are so blessed.
ReplyDeleteYou were a marvelous Mae West! I'm glad for you that you can talk to your mother like you did!
ReplyDeleteSuch a stunning blouse, Sheila, and those pants couldn't have been a more perfect match.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes do look freaky indeed! Loving the belt buckle and the mesh bracelet, and had a good giggle at you and your Mom both wearing stripes. So glad to hear that you can talk to your Mom about things. I do wish I still had mine, as we never had a chance to have a proper grown-up relationship. xxx
I keep forgetting you're in Canada as I was wondering why you wouldn't wear the shirt year round. It is a fantastic shirt (I'd be tempted to stick a turtleneck under it and just keep going).
ReplyDeleteGlad your mom was able to help you through stuff. I *try* to be that sort of mother, but kinda wonder if I'm helping at all.
I love the pants and blouse together, and it's such a lovely print! I smiled at both you and your mum in stripes - I used to like matching with my sister (even as an adult) and I always get a little excited when we are matching or wearing similar things by coincidence when we meet up :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so good you got time with your mum, and that Vizzini is doing so well!
Hello Sheila
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing well.
I just discovered your blog Ephemera and it's so vibrant.
Your outfit is so classy and chic. And, can I just say that Vizzini stole the show.
I'd love to connect with you.
Have a lovely week ahead.
Grace
Not just your colleague Stephanie likes your outfit. It is smashing. And you totally rocked the Mae West look.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see your mum with you. Stuff to work out hah? Hmmm.
Greetje
Love those pants! You look great.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see Vizzini's eyes looking more normal. Hope the trend continues.
ReplyDeleteSo stunning blouse and glad that you keep these trousers for Fall, they're fabulously Red!. Those shoes look really cool!
ReplyDeleteReading about Vizzini getting better makes me happy!
