Red Dress and Sporty Boots

Hello, my friends! A huge THANK YOU for the outpouring of love for Vizzini - I'm immensely comforted by how many of you are relating stories of how felines you knew/loved had similar ailments and beat the vets' estimates. We can only hope, and live in the moment, enjoying the time we have, right? It applies to humans and cats.

And now - clothes! It's totally fine (and welcome!) to go back to commenting on my clothes.
I appreciate those comments too, and although it's still feeling a bit overwhelming to deal with responding to them, I read and reread them and smile and send those good vibes right back to you!

  • Dress - Diane Von Furstenberg, consignment; first worn here in July with lots of copper
  • Boots - United Nude, consignment; purchased here for $129.99
  • Coat (below) - Club Monaco, thrifted; last seen here in August

I told you I'd be wearing these boots soon - and I wanted to wear this dress again too.
It's likely that I'll pack this dress away for next spring - as it's silk, it's too thin to wear into the fall.

I decided to wear it loose/unbelted this time.
It made a good canvas for my new-to-me feather necklace and for all my black and white accessories.

Such a lovely red.
One of my colleagues was entranced with my sporty boots (I did waggle my feet at everyone I saw).

Masked up.
I picked up some replacement make-up at the MAC counter at the Bay today, and the lovely person who helped me was very complimentary over my ensemble. It's so nice to meet people who appreciate sartorial effort.

Incognito outerwear.
It was a little chilly in the morning, but quite warm as the day went on. We usually have a warm September (since it's still technically summer for most of it).

Accoutrements:
I really have gotten my $1.95's worth out of this silk scarf!

  • Scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton, thrifted
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
These boots were the perfect height and very comfy to wear. I walked a few blocks in them downtown as well as around my office and they were fab.

Black and white bling:
I keep all my not-yet-worn accessory purchases together, so when I'm outfit-planning I have my collection nearby to inspire me to wear the new-to-me items right away.

  • Necklace - Harriet Grey, Sidney; purchased here for $1.00
  • Zigzag cuff - Sziska
  • Striped bangles - consignment; purchased here for $12.00 and $15.00
  • Bubble ring - Sidney
  • Tower/crystal ring - Sidney
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower
  • Earrings - gift from Petra

I loved the bangles, and am a bit "meh" on the necklace.

Here's a selfie with Vizzini and me after work.
"Unhand me, Woman!"

On the plus side, he's a lot less blurry in pictures now that he's blind. He's getting more and more comfortable every day, including jumping up on his scratching post to point himself (formerly glare) meaningfully at me. I still understand his "Feed me!" body language - and his loud meows were welcome (for once).

  2. Oh gosh, Vizzini ! The poor soul. Our previous dog got blind too, but it didn't really bother her. Perhaps because animals never think back or forward? Never wonder why this happened to them and how they yearn to be able to see again. They truly live in the present and just deal with it. We can learn from them.
    On the outfit: PERFECT.
Never knew United Nude made it all the way to Canada. I think it is a Dutch brand.

  3. I like how Vizzini goes with your black and white accessories. :)

We have had two days of much needed manageable rain, nonetheless waking up to your fabulous red dress did wonders for my mood. Yay! The style and color are perfect. I agree with you on “meh” for the necklace. It doesn’t seem to add much to the outfit and given your collection of necklaces this one doesn’t seem up to snuff.

Here’s to a wonderful day and lots of cuddles with your furry friend. 🐱❤️
    Cheers, Laurie

  5. I'm so sorry to hear Vizzini has lost his sight. I hope he will adjust well enough, often animals deal with these kind of things rather well, even better than us.
I love your silk red dress and how you styled it with black and white accessories.
You did get a lot of wear out of that silk scarf! The bw boots are fab so it is great they are as comfy as they are stylish. Comfort is important too. The statement necklace is gorgeous.
I love that photo of you and Vizzini!
