Silver Anniversary, Feeling Groovy

It was 25 years ago today when I was a wee girl of 29, that L and I got married. We've already celebrated (our Bigass Weekend in Vancouver), and will be doing an afternoon event this weekend with my family, but other than that, not much is going on. I did a big post with some pics from our wedding on our 20th anniversary, so you if you're inclined, you can revisit the day with me here

And onto the outfit!
Getting in a wearing of this new-to-me thrifted blue sweater, which I decided to wear as a groovy 70s-style sweater vest over my even-groovier vintage 70s shirt.

  • Shirt - Pant-Man, vintage 70s, thrifted; last worn here in February 2021 under a leather dress
  • Sweater - no label, thrifted; purchased here for $3.48
  • Trousers - Linda Lundstrom, Hazel's via Caro; last worn and Flashbacked here in January with a snakeskin wrap
  • Shoes - Gadea, consignment; last seen here in November 2021 with plaids
  • Coat (below) - Sarmite Wearable Art, consignment; last worn here in February

My view this morning of the Castle.
Shrouded in fog - it was cold this morning, but much warmer by afternoon.

This is a pretty profesh look for such groovy inspiration. The shirt is non-breathable polyester covered in grey and black paisley - I don't wear it very often, but I still like it.
My POUSes (that's Pants Of Unusual Size) are boring except for the shape.

But I had to do some physical labour around the office today, and I didn't feel like wearing a skirt.
Not sure if I am still feeling these. Grey pants are so blerg. What do you think?

Pockets!
Always a plus.

Masked up:
I'm at that point where I want my spring/summer wardrobe. NOW. But it's still a couple of weeks off.

Outerwear:
I was so snuggly on the way to work, but sweated like mad on the walk home - off came the hat and gloves, and I opened up the coat.

Accoutrements:
I felt very luxe in my fancy-schmancy McQueen scarf.

  • Silk scarf - Alexander McQueen, consignment
  • Gloves - vintage, thrifted
  • Hat - gift from Tammy

The stuff:
I am fond of these metallic shoes. Very comfy.

Spiky bling:
I've had this necklace for well over 10 years.

  • Necklace - The Bay
  • Earrings - Glee
  • Chain ring- Taxco, Mexico, Charmaine's
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

And who are these young kids?
Here's to another 25 years!  Happy anniversary, my dearest love.

  1. A well cunstructed, good quality, cleverly designed piece certanly has it's place. Especially if it fits so well as your grey pants fit you. A very pretty piece, I find it. Fun, Klassy elegante with a twist.

That being said, you seem to be a very visual person, and I know stiff competition inhabits your closet.
I sometimes find less vocal pieces may get left behind, languishing on the giveaway pile, lulled down by more erratic, dazzling bling.
I wonder why that weights so heavy on my heart.

Posting a comment on the wee hours of the morning does take a toll on you...

    2. What a poetic response, red poppy, thank you. I totally get where you are coming from with these pants.

And thank you so much for your kind wishes! :)

  4. Happy Anniversary, Sheila and L! As Cythnia's already said, that lovely wedding photo radiates joy.
Loving the Pant-Man shirt, the retro styled tank top and the metallic shoes. I'm not feeling the tousers either (that sounds a bit weird!) - they're not bad but they're not as fabulous as other garments you own.
We've got temperatures of 18°C forecast for today, a freak blip in the weather! xxx

    1. Thank you so much, Vix!

Yeah, the trousers may have hit their end with me - I like them and have enjoyed them, and they were FREE! It may be time to move them along.

      Oh, I'm so jealous!

  5. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to the two of you!! Here’s to many more years filled with love, fun, and simply being together with one another.

The blue “vest” is a fabulous color, striking and bold. I’m a big fan of this shade of blue. I understand your sentiments about the pants, however, they look like a handy staple to have AND they look flattering on you. Still, as others noted, you have a closet (and storage bags) full of options. I’d place the pants in the “not quite give away” pile and see if you unearth a better pair as you switch over your closet. As you say, always be trading up. If you find a better pair in your stash, out these go.

Ah, it’s so easy to offer suggestions ;) but then I think of what is hanging in my closet. I have a pair of pants not unlike the ones you are wearing….I have yet to wear them! I hold on to them because ya’ never know when they will come in handy.

Again, here’s to hugging and cuddling and celebrating for you and L!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind sentiment, Laurie! Hear, hear!

I love this shade too. Yes, the pants are handy, but I had another pair (pinstriped, Boss Lady, cuffs) that would have rocked this outfit. Wondering if I haven't already upgraded these? I may put them in the giveaway pile and then take them back - it's been known to happen!

Ha, yes, giving advice is always easier, isn't it? I say, toss those pants - if you need a pair, go spend $5 at the thrift store!

  6. Happy anniversary to you both! I like the blue vest on this and I like the pants as well but I know if you're not feeling it it's likely they won't stay in your wardrobe for much longer - it's better to wear pieces you really love after all. My problem is I love too many pieces and never want to part with anything, haha!

I'm glad my heart is fickle when it comes to clothes - I'd be full to bursting if I'd kept everything from the last 14+ years of blogging.

  10. Happy Anniversary, Sheila and L.! We never celebrated ours with friends or family as Covid arrived soon after the event which, like you, we celebrated with a little getaway!
How sweet is your wedding photo!
As for your outfit: I do love the 70s vibe of the sweater/vest worn over that groovy blouse. You're right about the trousers though, they do make the outfit look a bit meh. Love the spiky bling, however, and yay, another outing for that fabulous coat! xxx

    1. We've all missed so many milestones due to Covid, haven't we, Ann? I'm glad you like the pic - it's the one we have framed and displayed in the house.

Yeah, I'm agreeing with you - and as I said to Laurie, I actually have a great pair of deisgner Boss Lady pants in a grey/navy. I've already upgraded!

Not many more wearings of that coat - it'll be too warm soon.

  12. What a beautiful wedding photo! Congratulations! I love the grey pants on you - so classy with unique dimensions. I can see them as a useful foil to some interesting tops and jackets in the future. Think hot pink, baby blue, lime green..... see the colours in your gorgeous coat. Don't be too hasty discarding the classics.....

    1. Thank you, Robyn! I love it too. Yes, that's how I've worn them in the past - you should check out the Flashback, as I've worn them 10 times now, I think. And they were free - can't get that worked up about them.

And I like the V-shaped necklace with this outfit. For me these trousers would be too easy to give up.

  15. You two are just kids in that wedding photo! Happy Anniversary to you and L, one of the most stylish couples I know.

I know what you mean about the pants. I tend to only wear pants that have something unusual about them (shape, fabric, etc) as I find it hard to find pants that fit me at the best of times.

    1. I'm 29 there, and L is 27, mere children, Shelley! Thank you so much.

The cut is amazing on these, but they were free, and I'm done with them.

  16. Personally, I adore those pants. Far from being "meh" or boring in my eyes, they are elegant, classic, and have a terrific Katharine Hepburn-esque quality to them. Plus, they strike me as being a wonderfully versatile pair that could easily be partnered with a wide array of tops.

Speaking of which, I am soooo digging your fantastic layering here. The lines it creates with those pants are super becoming and, again, have a lovely classic feel to them.
