Fancy Friday: Floral and Plaid

We made it, my friends - the weekend is here! We're experiencing sunshine and promises of a sunny weekend, so my spirits are lifted.

And with all the crazy stuff going on in the world, let's enjoy a bit of frivolity in the form of floral and plaid.
This dress is among the not-yet-worn items for this season, and I do like to change up how I style it.

  • Jacket - Frank Lyman; last worn here in October 2021 with pine pleats
  • Dress - Naughty; last seen and Flashbacked here in November 2020
  • Shoes - 5YMedio; last worn here in January with PANK and zebra

Getting in another wearing of this embroidered and studded moto jacket.
I love the high level of embellishment.

My hair is just long enough to clip up and away from the grabby ball-style studs.
They yank my hair out if I leave it down. Yowch!

Without the jacket. That's a recently-purchased red camisole (bought here for $10), getting its first wearing in.
I only took my jacket off when I first arrived at work as I was glowing from my brisk walk in to the office.

I flashed my back tattoos at colleague Ngoc, who was very impressed.
I always surprise a few coworkers with the extent of my ink when the weather gets better.

Masked up.
I hear white shoes are "on trend" - not that I care, as I just like how they look.

Incognito (I love sunglasses weather).
Who is that woman? She must be important, all dressed up like that. Ha! I had quite a few comments on my look after work when I ran some errands.

Accoutrements:
I love this pretty silk scarf. Did not need the gloves on the way home.

  • Scarf - Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier, vintage 90s, consignment
  • Gloves - Parkhurst
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
These shoes have been a good purchase over the past couple of years. Love them! Super comfy!

Minor bling:
Just a swingy pair of earrings and a bunch of knuckle-dusters.

  • Silver earrings - gift from Petra
  • Silver/sodalite ring - Scotland, 1995
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Silver/enamel ring - antique store, Sidney
  • Belt - gift from Ruth

Have a good weekend, my friends! Stay cool, be kind and take care. I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure!

  1. That's a beautiful dress and I love how you've layered it here! :) I'm trying to make more of an effort to wear my dresses lately - feel like I wore a lot of denim over summer!

Enjoy your weekend! Today was a wonderfully sunny day but they say we will get storms tomorrow so I'm nervous for that. Hoping it's not as bad as they say and no more flooding!

  3. That plaid dress is gorgeous and I absolutely love how you styled it with your embroidered moto jacket. I can't imagine wearing a sleeveless dress - even with a camisole worn underneath - this time of year, though. Mine only come out when the temperature hits the high twenties! But then again I'm weird like that :-)
I hope you've been enjoying the sunny weather this weekend. I certainly have!
Oh, and I think dressing up is the perfect antidote to all the crazy and scary stuff that is happening! xxx

    1. Thank you, Ann! I get warm (thank you, menopause) so sleeveless is almost always an option for me.

We had a beautiful weekend - it was amazing. I so agree!

  4. Always enjoy seeing this dress and always chuckle because each time I realize I’d forgotten the front is so interesting and unusual! The vibrancy of the scarf makes it a total knock out! It adds colorful pizzazz.

Typing this on Saturday and am certain you are enjoying a grand weekend!

    1. I know, compared to the plain back, the front is all kinds of fun, Laurie! thank you!

      Ah, we did indeed. :)

  5. That dress looks fabulous! I feel your pain with the hair-yanking studs, I've got an evil bangle that insists on doing the same, I'll be bald if I keep wearing it.
I think it'll be a few more months before I'm bare-armed but a heatwave in March isn't unusual for us! xxx

    1. They are the worst...but also so cool, so just remembering to clip up my hair is the goal, Vix.

It usually starts getting a bit warmer here in March, hooray!

  8. You look like you have just stepped of the Alexander McQueenn catwalk!! Love it a lot! I'll bet you've got comments. There are way to little women who make a effort on the streets, at least they do where I live!

    1. You know I love my "tough" looks, Nancy! Thank you so much. There are not a lot of people who make the effort here either.

  9. The dress is nice and quirky but the jacket takes the cake. Wonderful jacket. The scarf is very pretty. And I'll bet you got a lot of (positive) comments as you were out and about.
