I love the pattern of the fabric, which is a shemozzle of florals and abstract designs.
It has a lot of reds and purples in it - and you know I have a lot of those colours in my closet!
The jacket is a dark purple - the body is velvet and the sleeves are a stretchy fabric.
It does up like a motorcycle jacket.
I like that the sides have a sort of pannier-like shape to them. It's an interesting detail, and I am all about the details!
It bookended the boots/tights nicely, even though they are different shades of purple.
Here's the dress without the jacket, so you can see how it looks solo.
The material is twisted over the hip, which is extra-super-duper flattering.
Whomp-whomp, the upper back is solid black.
And while that's normally a deal-breaker for me (we are seen from all sides, designers!), I knew I'd wear a jacket with this most of the time.
Masked up - a purple one!
The dress is a thin viscose knit, so I've layered a vintage slip under it - it really helped it sit smoothly, not grab at my tights, and added a bit of warmth.
Outerwear - we're in for rain rain rain for the next several days.
But I'm ready! Bring it on! Of course, it did not rain at all and I was completed over-accoutrement-ed.

My trusty purple wool is excellent in the rain - I just tuck my hair inside it. However, I carried it and the scarf home.

The stuff:
I'm ashamed that I haven't worn these boots in over a year! They have to be laced on - no zipper - so I have to commit to wearing them and dealing with the kitty spaghetti leather laces. I wore them to the hairdresser after work so that I could show them to Kaitlyn (returning her not-to-be disintegrating faux leather jacket to her), and then walked home in them. Lest you think I'm crazy for walking in heels, there's a 1.5 inch platform in the front - these are a net 1 inch heel.

Very nice dress. Like the boots, too. I'm surprised with the volume and frequency of your shopping that you don't overlook purchases more often. There simply aren't enough days in the year for our cute outfits!
ReplyDeleteI usually plan outfits for new items immediately, or I stash them in my off-season spot. I held this dress out as I thought I might wear it while L and I are on vacation, and then forgot about it under a pile of sweaters.

Fantastic ensemble! That purple velvet motorcycle jacket is such a cool piece! It instantly made me wonder why we don't see more moto jackets in velvet. It is a soft, often flexible fabric that is right at home in the rock and roll environ inherent to this type of topper.

I often re-read old posts too, in particular the pre-Covid and other stuff ones, which make me realize we were living in the age of innocence back then. And yes, it sometimes reminds me of particular half-forgotten items of clothing as well.

ReplyDeleteYes, the lacing is a pain, and the leather laces are really delicate too. Plus the wooden beads knock against each other and the shoes, which means I sound like a rain-stick when I'm walking. :)
