Triple Plaid and Broken-Up Red Suede

And here we are, on the last day of November, my Month of Colour. That was a very satisfying and successful experiment, committing to wearing colour - and lots of it! - every day. I felt pretty good mentally, and managed to avoid the usual blues, greys, and mean reds that tend to plague me this time of year.

I'll be starting my Month of Sparkle tomorrow, and I have some sequins lined up for it. I'm excited to be sparkly, and I'm looking forward to wearing some of my more traditionally dark seasonal clothes, even black.

But it's good to know that Colour Therapy is always just an outfit away! My triple plaid today is the combination of trousers, coat and ginormous scarf.
I bought the scarf for L for Christmas last year (I think), for around $10.00. It's a giant swath of lovely wool, very snuggly up around my neck in the chilly rain.

But here's my actual outfit. Yeah, again, no Stair Picture - at least until it's lighter in the morning.
I broke up my red suede suit to wear the jacket today.

  • Suede jacket - Holt Renfrew, vintage, thrifted; last worn here in January with red/cream/black
  • Sparkly tee - Ted Baker, consignment; last seen here in September with celadon
  • Trousers - Talbots, thrifted; last worn here in November 2020 with these same shoes
  • Shoes - Gadea, consignment; last seen here a couple of weeks ago for a day on the town
  • Coat (below) - L'Atiste, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here a week ago

I haven't worn the matching skirt with this for a while, but I love the rich red colour. You really can't go wrong with red.
The jacket has long cat-bait ties in front. Vizzini likes to go after them.

I'd forgotten about these trousers as I have to fold some of my pants to fit them in the closet.
I was precariously standing on my closet-stool while putting a sweater away and spotted them. Hello!

Masked up - my sparkly blue mask matched the sparkly blue top.
Getting a little early glitter going. I'm a glittery kind of gal.

Outerwear.
I'm very visible in the twilight as I walk home.

Accoutrements:
I now have a nice red "set" of hat/scarf/gloves - I love having sets.

  • Beret - Parkhurst, consignment
  • Scarf - consignment
  • Gloves - Echo, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
I do enjoy a chunky menswear style of shoe.

Bold bling:
I wished I'd worn bracelets; I had planned a long-sleeved top originally, and then forgot to pull bracelets when I switched to the Ted Baker top.

  • Necklace - Stella & Dot, thrifted
  • Hematite ring - thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Earrings - local

Do you get the sparkly out for the holiday season? Jewelry counts - time to wear all those rhinestones!

  3. Such a pleasing way to mark the segue from color to razzle dazzle sequiny shine…the color of plaids, the razzle dazzle of the top and mask. ❤️ All grounded by the standard bearer of the shoes!

Happy December! It marks much to enjoy…the holidays, the solstice and the welcoming of winter, along with the lengthening of lighted days!

  6. What a fabulous mix of plaids! What a stroke of luck that you spotted the forgotten trousers, so that you can show them off on your last day of the Month of Colour! They look amazing worn with the broken up red suede suit jacket and that sparkly top. Indeed, you can't go wrong with red, and being visible in the twilight is imperative. Wearing colour should be obligatory this time of year! xxx

  7. I love the red! I really think I need to wear red more often! I mainly use it as an accessory colour but I have a couple of red pieces that definitely deserve another wear! I'm so glad your month of colour was helpful! I really wanted to wear some Christmas-sy colours more this month but I'm struggling a bit getting into the festive mood which is not normal for me. it's been a rough year. But we are breaking out the Christmas outfits this weekend for our first Christmas event, so hopefully that helps bring on all the cheer!

  8. I love plaid and I love red and I love sparkly stuff! Awesome outfit! I have a bunch of plaid scarves I need to take out for winter. I'm hoping it gets cold enough to wear them soon. It's been really warm here and I haven't even needed a light jacket yet. I'm wearing shorts to set up the Christmas decor. I really really want to wear my colder weather stuff! Happy December to you, L and Vizzini!

  9. The red accessories look wonderful with that black and white coat. I'm looking forward to seeing your sparkly stuff in December - I have recently acquired not one, but TWO sequinned jackets. One is a bomber style, which I have worn outside, but the other is a longer, dressier style and the beading and sequins are exquisite, and in perfect shape, so it may get saved for a special occasion.
