Fancy Friday: Dalmatian, Badass Blue Boots, and the Greetje Dress.

Happy Friday, my friends! I saved my new blue boots for today's outfit.
And yes, I felt like a complete and utter badass (in the best possible way) all day in them.

  • Vest - Religion, consignment; last worn here in September 2021 with florals
  • Dress - InWear; first seen here in December 2021 with a troublesome coat (now gone)
  • Boots - Official Sabado, Fluevog; purchased here for $649.00 (I paid $100 after my gift cards) last weekend
  • Coat (below) - Tadmor, vintage 70s, vintage mall; first worn here earlier this month

The forecast called for rain, but the Castle looked clear in the morning, so I risked wearing my new boots to walk to and from work in.
Thank you, Castle! It did not rain.

Although I wanted the boots to shine, of course, I wore something loud with them.
That's just how I roll.

I had forgotten about this vest, as I don't have room to hang it, and I couldn't see it when it was folded.
I liked how it looked over this Dalmatian-print dress.

The boots were incredibly comfortable.
I wanted to do martial arts moves in them!
These beauties were prefect for a full 8-hour wear with lots of walking and shoving around boxes, as I worked on cleaning out more of our office's desks.

Masked up.
I still see a lot of people around still wearing masks, which is nice.

Outerwear - gotta get this lovely suede coat broken in properly.
She'll be nice and soft and ready for the "shoulder" seasons (early spring and fall).

Incognito - back to wearing my prescription sunglasses when I'm outside.
I felt like a secret agent, ha!

Accoutrements:
Some faves.

  • Scarf - Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier, vintage 90s, consignment
  • Gloves - Danier Leather
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
Ah, there are my beauties. I want to wear them every day!

Silver bling:
More favourites.

  • Silver/lucite bracelet - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
  • Lucite/crystal bracelet - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Sidney
  • Earrings - Israel, consignment
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocarra, vintage fair
  • Silver/sodalite ring - Scotland, 1996
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

I picked up the mail at the property management office and discovered a surprise from lovely blog-friend Greetje! She'd worn it on her blog (link here, 'cause I love; the post with her in the dress is here; a full shoot with it was done here) and offered it to me when I admired it.
"I can't believe she didn't include something for me!"

Vizzini, this isn't about you.

It's a lot of dress, as Greetje noted when she wore it. Big full sleeves, fitted in the bodice, a full skirt, and on me, it's a floor-length maxi.
The pattern doesn't photograph well, but it's really bright and full of green, pink and yellow against a blue background.

It's by Boden, and it's 100% cotton, so will go in my spring/summer wardrobe - when I tried it on it immediately played, "I grab you!" with  my tights.
It's got pockets! I am going to love swanning about in this Jammy Dress in hot weather and of course, she shall be known as the Greetje Dress.

Greetje included a lovely postcard with a funny scrawled message.
Aw! Thank you so much, Greetje! I love it.

And a very happy weekend to y'all! I'll be back with tales of adventure on Sunday.

  1. No wonder you felt totally badass in this outfit, it looks absolutely incredible. Indeed, the boots are the real stars here, but they did have to share some of their limelight with the Dalmatian dress. The suede coat is giving me a serious case of coat envy, it's such a stunner.
And how lovely of Greetje to send you that dress! I can't wait to see you swanning about in it.
Have a great weekend, Sheila! I have been wearing my prescription sunglasses too. It seems Spring has arrived although it was rather blustery today. xxx

  9. These boots are special. And great for utility. I can imagine you wearing them when you have to go out to covertly assassinate the leader of a rival nation. :)

  11. wowww, total Badassery Fabulousness!, these boots look even better 'in action' and love how you styled them with your dalmatian dress and suede coat (delightfully matchy in Blue!).
I'm going to enjoy these fab boots vicariously!. Love them but being sensible here: I would not make the most of tall boots!.

And so lovely that Greetje sent you this dress!, totally fab print!

  12. Another perfect outfit! (Nothing surprising there. :-)) I am curious to see how you style the Greetje dress. No matter what you choose, it will carry the warmth of coming from a fellow blogging friend. This is a perfect example of clothing can be evocative and perhaps invoke a 'super power' when worn because of what it evokes.

The boots, the boots, the boots. Yessss! I am not a wearer of animal prints but absolutely appreciate them on others. :-)

    1. I liked this outfit - love these boots so much.

I know, I love that it comes from another blogger. I'll likely play off the pink or yellow in it to brighten it up.

  13. The boots and the leopard go very well together. So do the coat and the boots. For me these boots are a bit too far out of my comfort zone (you know me), but I get the attraction and I can certainly see that they are comfortable.
I am glad you got the dress so quickly. Thank you for the links. Do remember there is a cotton lining in the skirt. That might be too warm for summer. Perhaps you should remove it and replace it with another underskirt?

    1. Thanks, Greetje! I know they are a bit much for you, but I adore them.

I can't believe it arrived so quickly - oh, I know about the cotton lining, which is why I won't be wearing it with tights at all. Nah, in summer, the dress will stand away from my body - it will be great in the office, I'm sure. I won't be getting that fancy with any alterations - I would not remove any of the lining.

How lovely to be sent clothes by friends!

  16. Fellow prescription sunglass (and eyeglasses) wearer here, too. I am so grateful the technology exists to combine sun safety and clear visibility. On the downside though, unless one is quite flush, it does limit the number of pairs you can own if you need them to be prescription.

It is awesome that you're still seeing some people sporting masks. We did our usual once every 2 - 3 weeks grocery shopping trip on Friday and across a variety of stores, save for one elderly couple, we were the only people with masks on. I swear, I even got a few dirty looks for wearing one still. People, eh?! ;D

What a fabulously pretty dress and very touching gift from your friend. The combo of poofy (and/or bell or poet) sleeves and a long flowing hem will always be a style fave for me. It channels my inner Stevie Nicks sooo well! :)
