Bigass Long Weekend Wrap-Up: Pink Pajama Friday Flashback; Palazzo Zooming; Orange You Glad to See Us?

What a lovely long weekend! It was rather rainy for much of it, but the sun won out in the end.

Friday's office outfit - I built this around the new-to-me sleeveless white shirt.
Usually I build outfits around a more challenging piece, like say...a teal, pink and red pajama-style blazer. Nope. A white shirt - that's a challenge to me!

  • Blazer - H&M, consignment; last worn here in June 2019 with these same trousers
  • Shirt - Ann Taylor, consignment; purchased here for $10.00
  • Trousers - H&M, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here in March for work and a vintage fair
  • Shoes - Pilgrim Truths, Fluevog; last worn here in April with a pattern clash

Just kidding - this jacket is a tricky piece to style! Here's a quick reminder of how I've styled it, since this is only the 4th wearing since I bought it here in August 2018.

The powder blue shade has been mixed with the jacket a couple of times, here in the shoes.
This is the first time I wore it, in August 2018. I have pattern-mixed every time I've worn the jacket, even if that's only in a small way. My vintage silk polka dot skirt (this one) would look good with this!

I'm now on my 3rd white top. This is from September 2018, and that's the same bow-tie and shoes.
Adding black and white houndstooth. As I have a houndstooth pencil skirt (this one), I could replicate this outfit with that, and change up the flats to my red rescued pumps (these ones).

There's the baby blue again - this is last June's look. This time it's a different pair of shoes and a belt (for matchy-matchy!).
I have a pink camisole under the red lace top, which I still have. I could easily swap out the pink trousers here for one of my houndstooth bottoms or another black and white printed bottom. The possibilities are endless!

It doesn't take much to mix things up a bit!
I really liked the addition of this dark teal belt, which gave it a nice edge. I like to tweak things that I recall liking before - this blog is useful for helping me actually remember my outfits!
And now my hair matches!

I wore this with the jacket off here and there, as I had hot flashes all day. Yay, just in time for warm weather.
The belt matches my tattoos.
I loved this white top - A+! It fit well through the bust (yay for these pleats), I like the covered button placket in the front, and it's cut nice and high under the arms. Unfortunately, that's where most of my white tops are destroyed since I "glow" a lot. I chucked it in the wash when I got home.

Done up - I love this jacket. Hard to believe both it and the pants are H&M!
This was a very comfy Pajama Suit. How would you style it? Would you add any other colour to this jacket?

The stuff:
I just felt like flats, so I defaulted to these lovely red shoes. May 15th is also International Fluevog Day, so I had to represent (no, I didn't buy any shoes - we are waiting for our store to re-open).

Bold bling:
Remembering one of my favourite outfits of the last couple of years (this one), and the addition of a different chain with this bow-tie (here), I wore chunky gold under my silk polka-dotted bow tie. I felt very badass in my Givenchy!

  • Belt - Emmanuel, vintage 80s, vintage fair
  • Bow-tie - John Comfort for Harry Rosen, vintage, thrifted
  • Necklace - Givenchy, thrifted, vintage fair
  • Earrings - consignment

L and I hung out and played boardgames and listened to tunes all Friday evening - our favourite thing to do, even when it's not a pandemic.

On Saturday, I got my crazy on for our Zoom hangout with our friends. Bouffant, baby!
My friends are cute - they always ask me to get up and model my outfit.

  • Blouse - Miu Miu, thrifted; last worn here in July 2019 with these same shoes
  • Palazzo pants - Pinkerton, consignment; last seen here on my trip to Hamilton, Ontario last July
  • Shoes - Eject; last worn here in August 2019 with copper and neon

My whole outfit is silk - it rained all day, and this kept me warm while I toodled around the house, doing various things (reading, looking at TV, pestering Vizzini) until we Zoomed.
I love the unusual cut and shape of this Miu Miu top.
The back is a silk knit; the front is woven silk. I have a cami on under it, as it's mostly see-through.
I adore these funky silk trousers - pockets!

The stuff:
I actually left the shoes on, as the pants are too long without. Sorry, downstairs neighbour, for my clomping! These are one of my favourite summer shoes - I love the colour, the tough studs, and the low heel (net 1").

Harmonious bling:
This is the first wearing of the purple enamelled set of hinged bangles - I bought them for $1.95 many months back at WIN, when I got the green set (same price).

  • Bangles - thrifted
  • Earrings - consignment
  • Silver/amethyst ring - vintage mall
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

Vizzini was lurking around while I was taking pictures. He skedaddles when we have the Zoom calls - it's like he knows people are there.
"People? Where?"

L and I played boardgames till nearly 3am on Saturday, and then had a nice sleep-in before getting ready to go hang out with our friends on Sunday. Normally, on a long weekend, we would all gather at a pub and chill out with food and beverages for the afternoon/early evening. However, right now that's all out the window, although pubs will be reopening this coming week, with social distancing in effect.
I needed something to lift my spirits (I can wallow very easily) that would also be good for sitting on the ground, and walking to and from Beacon Hill Park. Orange jumpsuit time!

  • Jumpsuit - Kensie, consignment; last worn here in April 2019 with &@%$ shoes that fell apart
  • Shoes - Seychelles, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) with neutral satin and silver earlier this month
  • Coat (below) - Lord & Taylor, thrifted; last worn here in September 2019

The stair picture is the most accurate for colour, but as you no doubt have surmised, this is a BRIGHT orange.
Every time I wear this, L takes credit for pushing me to try it on. Yes, yes, you were right.

It's insanely comfy and flattering, although I continue to wonder why they put a white zipper on an orange jumpsuit.
 Pockets!
I just realized I wore pants in every outfit - unusual for me.

All covered up for both the sun and the slightly chilly breeze.
Sunday started off raining and gloomy, but the clouds lifted and gave us a perfect afternoon for hanging out in the park.
Time to actually use my vintage Ted Lapidus bag for the first time! I did feature it here, but it was empty. For our actual outing, I filled it with hand sanitizer, paper towels, a mask, sunblock stick, lipstick, and a bag of grapes. Everything a gal needs.

  • Purse - Ted Lapidus, vintage 90s, vintage fair

The stuff:
Walking shoes - these are super comfy for a 20+ minute walk each way.

Bold bling:
Once I added the neutral taupe colour of the shoes, I had to add in my new-to-me vintage Lanvin silk scarf, which I rolled and tied in my hair.

  • Scarf - Lanvin, vintage 70s, purchased here for $10.00
  • Silver/acrylic cuff - Alexis Bittar, consignment, Vancouver
  • Silver cuff - vintage 60s, thrifted, Powell River
  • Klimt ring - consignment
  • Wood ring - Dots
  • Wood/silver earrings - consignment, Powell River

We were out past Vizzini's dinner time.
"What? I have to wait for my dinner?"

But we couldn't go home early when we had a day like this!
Our friends Yvonne and Randall live near Beacon Hill Park, our "downtown" park (link here, 'cause I love). This is one of the corners, and L is chilling out beside me on our blankets.

Cat and Ross brought chairs.
We were careful to follow our social distancing - Ross had a measuring tape that he hauled out regularly!

Ronnie and Caro.
We all brought our own chairs/blankets and beverages.

Vero and Justin.
Their Yorkie, Django, is hiding under the chair - his leash was tied to the side so that he didn't roam.

Here we all are! I missed a shot of Randall and Yvonne - they are in the centre.
Thanks for the photo, Ron!

Vizzini was very yowly when we got home.
"Really? I'm so chill here."

I took that picture in the morning, when I couldn't find him. I always check the post last, since he so rarely hides there.

L and I are enjoying our quiet day off, as Monday is a holiday.
"Every day is a holiday for me."

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for swinging by!

  3. Lovely outfits, Sheila! The first jacket must be very hard to style and I would stick to pink, red, white and teal if it was mine.

It's fab that you get to chill with your friends in the park and have a communal picnic. Does anyone bring music? Is it easy to have conversation when you're spread out like that? I'm hoping the next phase of our lockdown easing will involve something similar.

The Lanvin scarf was gorgeous and a very good bargain at 10 dollars!

    Take care

    1. Thanks, Vronni! Yes, it's really tough to style, which is why I've been going so matchy with it! I felt quite clever bringing in that light blue.

I know, I was so happy to see everyone! No, no music - it is actually hard to hear people who are further away, and because we tend to normally gender divide (the gals all hang together), it's a lot of cross-talking. This is the new normal for Phase 2 here, though, so I guess I best get used to it.

Thank you! It stayed in my hair well - I thought of you! :)

And the orange jumpsuit is fabulous for your catch up. Glad you had a lovely picnic. I can’t wait to have a picnic one of these days. X

  6. Fab outfits Sheila, so glad you got some nice sun for the picnic. Jacket - wise, you've matched it up well, I don't think you can do any other colours with it other than my m.o.which is all black with an uber coloured piece.
I love the orange jumpsuit, you brought a joie de vivre to the park. Wonderful to see life starting to be a little normal again.

    1. Thank you so much, Juliana! I'm so happy that the weather cooperated.

I know, it's such a tricky piece. All-black would work, but I prefer mixing some other colours in there.

Aw, thank you! I know, it feels good to see people face-to-face again!

  7. Three fabulous trouser outfits here, Sheila!
The pyjama-style jacket is fabulous, every outfit you've worn with it has been brilliant but your most recent wins. It reminds me of the incredible costumes in Murder Under The Sun, it's got a real 1920s vibe going on.
The orange jumpsuit is gorgeous, welldon L on pushing you to give it a bash.
The palazzo pants are stunning and silk, too. What a luxe outfit.
I love that you managed to hang out with your pals and that social distancing was strictly adhered to courtesy of Ross!
LOVE that silver studded cuff, that needs to be in my colection.
Vizzini is adorable, yowly or not!
    Stay safe. xxxx

    1. I didn't realize I wore all trousers until I was ready to post. So bizarre!

Thanks, Vix! It is definitely trick to style. I have been grooving on 100-year-old fashion lately, it seems!

Yes, sometimes L overrides my inner voice! He's gotten very good at shopping over the years.

I adore the palazzo pants - such a great pattern and cut, and them being silk is a nice bonus.

Ross is the man! It was the best to see everyone. I miss my friends so much.

Alexis Bittar's stuff is very expensive - this cuff was hand-carved from Lucite. I was lucky to find it for under $50 on consignment last year.

He is a really cute cat - cuteness means he gets away with a lot, though!

      Thanks, my dear! You too.

  8. So lovely outfits, all of them are totally fabulous!. Love your pijama suit, the jacket is stunning and goes so well with the trousers and the teal belt, and it even matches your hair!, so cool!. Those shoes and the cute tie are bookending the outfit nicely!
And I'm loving your orange jumpsuit more and more, it's a fab color and a fab piece, and you look gorgeous in it!
Also love your chartreuse blouse with those groovy trousers, absolutely fabulous and delightfully matchy shoes!

  9. I LOVE all the outfits- so bright and pretty!
I have to say that first outfit makes me think of Colin Baker's Doctor WHo outfit- it's the necktie I think that does it! Beautiful AND fun!! That jacket is amazing though and I love how yo styled it on different occasions- it's my favourite colour! Pretty you!
So nice you got to socialdistance see your friends. My sister and I did something similar on Sunday. Her Father-in-Law's funeral was the next day so she really needed a bit of break from being at home as well as the fact she had to go out and give an elderly relative a lift to get them to the funeral so was going to have to drive anyway. She came over and brought me her old water butt as I wanted another one and she didn't want it. She came in her running gear and I got on my bike and we did 7.5km along the country lanes with me cycling 5 metres behind her (or occasionally in front)- it was a much needed change of scene and a break from the grief of her husband and then she came and sat on the opposite side of my patio to drink a cup of tea. It was good to see her.x

That sounds awesome, that you were able to get a break, and also give your sister a break. Good for you!

  10. It's so nice you were able to go see your friends in the park even if you have to keep your distance! I'm getting really annoyed now that the schools are back and I have to drop off and pick up my son as the other parents don't always distance, they get so close! I know that the schools are not really setup for social distancing (lots of narrow pathways) but I still try avoid people!

These are great pants outfits on you and something about that second one makes me want to try a pair of printed pants like that! way back when I had a pair of pinstriped wide legged pants for the office, back when I could wear heels, but I wonder if I could pull them off in a fun print like this with flats. maybe I will find the perfect pair when our opshops reopen. The one nearest me has but I'm not sure about visiting it yet - it is very very small and there are often a group of volunteers already there working when I visit which would make it tricky to distance!

    1. I know, it felt so good to see them all again! Ugh, other people! I just put my hand out and say, "DISTANCE, please!"

Thank you! You would do so well with palazzo pants - they are insanely comfortable and fun to wear! The length is often a challenge with me (like you, I'm short). Good luck!

  11. Perfect styling for Friday's outfit. I love how the jacket and trousers form an accidental suit, and I can hardly believe they're both H&M. Glad to hear your new white top got an A+, and I love the addition of the red accents, especially that quirky bow tie. Saturday's outfit is brilliant too, those palazzo pants are magnificent and look how well that Miu Miu top goes with it! This is beyond doubt my favourite outfit. And your hair is sublime too. Sunday's jumpsuit is eye-searingly bright, what a fabulous piece. And what a day you've had, meeting your friends in the now "normal" (I refuse to call it "new normal") socially distant way. But staying out beyond His Majesty's dinner time! How very daring! xxx

  12. It's fun seeing all the different ways you wore that pattern jacket. My fav way is the way you have styled it most recently with the red shoes and bowtie. The matching pink pants are simply divine as well.I think the styling is perfect as it is, I wouldn't change a thing. I love the combo of pink and red.

  14. All three looks are exceptional (as always), but my favourite is the funky silk trousers with the beautiful green blouse. Those trousers are a work of art! In the first picture your head is turned and only one earring is showing and it immediately reminded me of Lulu in To Sir With Love (which is one of the very few movies that is not about animals that makes me cry).

We are starting to loosen up here in Ontario and I'm taking notes from you and your friends on tips to social distance while being social. I can't wait to see my friends and family again - even from a safe distance!

Oh, so good to hear that! Solo picnics are the way to go! I hope you get to see your friends and family again soon.

  16. I like all three outfits, they are flattering, funky and unique (in a very good way).
Coming together like that in a park is still forbidden here. Two people are OK to agree to meet (at the appropriate distance), three is not. But if two people are out and accidentally meet a third person, that is OK (shoot me, I dont get it).
