Origami and Green, With Peonies and Pink

Today's outfit was planned around these lovely new-to-me shoes, plus an old favourite.
I often have to correct people, so I'm saying it right up front: this is not a jacket. It is a shirt. It's sheer black mesh, with strips of cotton bias tape sewn in these intricate shapes.

  • Shirt - Cartise, consignment; last worn here in April 2018 with pink pants and white shoes
  • Trousers - Banana Republic, thrifted; last seen here in September 2018 under a dress
  • Shoes - Forever 21, consignment; purchased here in for $12.50
  • Jacket (below) - Gap, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here in March

Why do a plain white shirt when you can do something with this level of detail?
I call this my origami shirt, as it reminds me of folded paper.

Amazing, isn't it? I first bought it here in December 2015 for $24.00, and I've now worn it 8 times.
Same with these vividly bright green trousers. Why have plain, when you can do a textured weave?

Plain bores me.
Even though this is a pretty basic outfit, I need that detail.

Outerwear - it's bloody windy out!
I don't remember where I got this scarf...*digs around* Oh, apparently I thrifted it for $6.50 back in 2011 (first seen here with a plain little black dress...which - shocking! - I no longer have).

  • Silk scarf - Marc Rozier

Done up. I don't mind the shirt hanging out (it's better than butt-crack-a-lackin'!).

Loving this bright PANK jacket. Can you tell?

The stuff:
I was iffy on these pink shoes when I bought them. Forever 21?? They must be shoddy quality! But they were great to wear; very comfy and easy to walk in. They stood up very well over the day.

Shiny bling:
I love the peonies on the toes.

  • Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
  • Crystal ring - Uffizi Gallery gift shop, Florence, Italy
  • Earrings - vintage fair

  3. I like the pink and green together, and I am really loving that jacket so very much! :) I need to be more adventurous with my (plain!) green pants. I find green tricky to wear and I'm trying to make more of an effort to wear it but I seem to favour neutrals with it.

    1. Thanks, Mica! Green is a great colour - mix it with your blues if you aren't sure what to do with it. Neutrals are great too!

  9. Plain bores me too, I absolutely understand the sentiment.

Your pink shoes are gorgeous, they remind me of something Jeannie would have worn in the 60s.

    1. I had bright pink pants, Jess, and I got rid of them because they were boring! No texture!

Thanks - you mean like in "I Dream of Jeannie"? Love it!

  12. Yay, your pank jacket is indeed very similar to my new yellow one! And those shoes are almost identical to a blue pair I bought last year. Oh goodness what great taste we have Sheila! Oh, and yes, you look fab by the way - it's always a winner that origami shirt x

  13. Spring has certainly entered your outfits, the closet change is so very evident. This outfit makes me smile and I found a pair of trousers that could easily match the origami shirt. I will post it with the April purchases or if i get to wear it before the end of the month.
I've been traveling for work and not been around that much :(
