Cosmic Blues

We were up late last night watching "Game of Thrones" but I still managed to squeeze in time to plan an outfit for today.
We had two new people starting, and I gave them the office tour, so I thought I ought to make an effort.

  • Top - Jean Paul Gaultier, vintage 90s, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) in February in a half-right look
  • Dress - Geek Boutique, thrifted; first worn here (3rd outfit) in December 2018 for a weekend shop
  • Shoes - Marc Jacobs, thrifted; last seen here in September 2018 with my firecracker dress
  • Coat (below) - Danier Leather, thrifted; last worn here, earlier this month

My hair really pouffed today! I may have used too much beach spray, but I do enjoy having a bit of a 70s mane.
I had this dress in the "not yet worn" section of my closet because, although I have worn it once, it's really a spring/summer dress. I love the denim-ish look of it (it's a black marled weave), and it's excellent for layering.

A very 90s look, isn't it?
The top is full of cosmic swirls and circles in blue and black. It is basically sheer, but actually covers pretty well.

Outerwear - it was so chilly this morning, but by the time I walked home, it was lovely and hot.
We're supposed to be getting temps of around 15 all week. Yay!

  • Scarf - fake Louis (Lewis!) Vuitton,thrifted

The stuff:
I will probably wear these shoes with that colour-blocked skirt (this one) eventually, but today, I liked the silver bits and the nice bright blue.

Silver bling:
The "atomic" brooch that Mom brought me home from New Zealand helped me lean towards more cosmic-inspired pieces.

  • Silver/gold cuff - JPL, vintage fair
  • Brooch - gift from Mom, New Zealand
  • Cuff/square earring - Fossil, gifts from L
  • Long earring - Fossil, thrifted
  • Lapis lazuli ring/Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

As I was taking the "stuff" pictures after work, Vizzini was circling me, yowling for his food. He spotted the dangling camera cord and...
"Gimme that!"
...he climbed my leg! His claws need clipping! Ouch!

  1. That dress is such a good fit, perfect for layering! Love your pouffy hair. Isn't it funny how our hair wakes up with a different personality some mornings?
    Ouch, scratchy cat claws. xxx

    1. Thanks, Vix - I love layering tops under dresses like this. My hair is naturally straight with just a touch of a wave - I pretty much let it do what it wants.

Yes, must clip Mr. Kitty's claws!

  2. Ouch !
You know I love black and blue together. The pattern on the top is so intricate and I also love the shoes that are colorblocked in such a great way. I put together a blue and black outfit recently as well. As always we seem to be in sync.
I love the big hair !

    1. I do! I love the pattern of the top - it's just lovely in person. The shoes were such a great find. Big hair for the win!

  3. You'll have made quite an impression on those new people! Start as you mean to go on, and then slowly get them used to Wacky Sheila ;-) That dress skims your hips perfectly, and I love the addition of the cosmic swirls. The shoes are divine! I was thinking they'd be perfect with your colour-blocked skirt, and that was before you mentioned it! Ooh, naughty Vizzini! xxx

    1. Yes, I will be busting out the wacky before too long, I'm sure! Thank you so much - it was a very comfy dress. They were the first thing I thought of with the dress, but I thought they were a little too on-the-nose for a first wearing. Vizzini - what a scamp!

  4. The dress fits you so beautifully and I love how you matched your jacket and your shoes. A very elegant outfit and the cosmic jewellery and shirt were fun!

  5. I like your hair pouffy like that! I am envious that you are able to style it different ways, one of the few disadvantages of having hair as short as mine is that it pretty much looks the same all the time. This is a great outfit Sheila - I like the dress layered over the blouse.

    1. It's fun having long hair - it's been so long for me since I've had it like this. I get the short hair thing - that's one of the bonuses! Thank you!

  6. That dress is so very versatile, love the 80s vibe.
Would you believe I have no idea what GOT is about? I hear and read about everyone being excited about it, yet I am clueless.

    1. Oh, this dress is squarely in the 90s, not 80s. We would never have worn something like this in the 80s!

No big deal, Lorena. Catch up with it some time, if you feel like it!

  7. Loved this look all the more when you added that jacket - the shoes and jacket were made for each other! Fab hairstyle too - a touch of the Farrah Fawcett-Majors!
