Snakeskin Duo, and Cat Pictures

We're still on our run of good weather - I don't want to jinx it by mentioning the "r" word! - and I'm still able to wear some of my more summery finds as autumn looks, including this soft silk dress.
Grey and green isn't a typical autumn palate but I loved this combo.

  • Dress - T. Babaton, garage sale; purchased here on the weekend for $30.00
  • Skirt - Pink Tartan, thrifted; purchased here on the weekend for $16.95
  • Shoes - Amalfi, vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in August 2017(!) with a fake flapper dress
  • Coat (below) - Vassali, consignment; last worn here a couple of weeks ago

I've packed this dress away now for spring, but isn't it cute? Also, no way is that appropriate dress length in an office! Maybe on a hot summer weekend for a stroll to town for brunch, but not at work. I also work a cami under it for coverage.
I could have layered a skinny pant under this, but went with this new-to-me green skirt instead. I like the idea of this with skinny jeans and tall boots - perfect for spring.

I bloused the top of the dress a little more above my belt to make sure the top and bottom were equal - the proportions make it look more like a tunic that way.
The skirt was lovely to wear, and I'm looking forward to styling it again soon so you can properly see it.

I still love that this dress/tunic has pockets.
Didn't use them much, but I knew they were there!

Outerwear - again, nice in the morning, unneeded by 5pm.
Vizzini was poking around in my bags

Those bags in the background are my Hallowe'en decorations - they are really heavy (I have a couple of cast-iron pieces), so I took the bus to work.

  • Scarf - gift from Mom
  • Gloves - Parkhurst

Vizzini, are you poking your nose where it doesn't belong?

"Of course not!"

A good look at the back of this beautiful coat.

I decorated my office for Hallowe'en today - I took a few pictures, so will share those with you tomorrow. Due to a certain bitey/chewy feline, I can't put decorations up at home or they will be destroyed.
"I resent your implications, Woman."

Having my personal decorations up at work means I get to share them with others and enjoy them more myself. Win!

The stuff:
I hear snakeskin is a trend right now. Sure! Let's do shoes to match the dress. I thrifted these lovely vintage shoes for $10.00 - I always remember because the price is still written on the sole.

Brassy bling:
I addition to grey and green, I went with brass for my accessories, instead of the more predictable silver.

  • Belt - Pringle of Scotland, vintage fair
  • Chain bracelet - Club Monaco
  • Earrings - thrifted
  • Pearl ring - Erth, consignment
  • Bronze ring - P. Sarpaneva, c. 1970, vintage expo
  • Spinner ring - Twang & Pearl

Vizzini's been very discombobulated lately. L and I have been caring for our friends' cat Baxter all week, so our schedule has been disrupted. You know how cats like routine.
"I am quite put out by all your shenanigans, Woman. Come pat me."

I often have One Last Snuggle with him before I go.
"Satisfactory. You may leave now."

And now he's hiding from the vacuum cleaner. He's going to need extra lovin' tonight!

  1. Love the snazzy shoes. I envy the small size of your feet: I can't imagine going into a shoe store and finding shoes that fit.

    1. It's all relative, darlin' - my feet are on the big side for women - but I hear ya. There are lots of options online!!

  2. Great idea to wear the dress over a skirt with a belt - must try it, I'm often put off from dresses that I think are too short. And snakeskin shoes, wow, bang on trend. The coat is super stylish.

  3. It's such a beautiful dress even if more of a tunic - and I like the blouson effect of it belted, I do that often with longer tops as I'm petite! Works really nicely with your skirt.

  4. I am digging your accessories, but I am not digging the need for outerwear. I refuse to pull out my winter coat.

  5. I love tunics - I really need more in my life but for me plain and solid colors.
Doing the tunic with the skirt is brilliant and so classy.

  6. I just knew you'd come up with a solution to wear that dress before it's being stored away for next Summer! What a great idea to wear it as a tunic over your new skirt. Two new items in one go, too! And wow, that belt and snakeskin shoes are just fabulous, too. Would you believe I am looking forward to wearing a coat, beret and gloves? xxx

  11. Snakeskin is always "in", in my book. It always surprises me when someone says something is on trend because I never pay attention, I just like to wear styles I like. :)
