Mar 8th - Outfit #7 - Two Crows for Joy

Oh, I'm getting down to the wire now - not too many unworn capsule items! I'm going to have to start remixing them soon!

Today's outfit features all fresh items:
My black skinny trousers! I confess, I was worried they would be too tight, but they actually felt pretty good this morning. I am down 3 pounds in the last 2 weeks, so 4 pounds to go, maintain it for two weeks and I can book my next tattoo! Nothing like a good reward dangling out there to motivate one.

Anyway, I haven't worn these pants much - last time here - but I'm finding that having a couple or three neutral bottoms in these capsules is essential. I'm not one for jeggings or leggings, so a stretchy trouser is perfect.

This is my fuzzy green cardigan:
I've only worn it a couple of times (last time here), and this time I wore it unbuttoned. I really liked how it looked with the teals and blues in the outfit.

The top is new, from my Smoking Lily haul last month. It's called the Hama Hama top and it's made of cotton and bamboo. It was $12.50 (a 2 for $25 special) - very good considering they sell for $44.00 new!
Trying out a new pose - what do you think?
So soft! This outfit felt a little bit casual for work due to the print on the top, but it was still very appropriate. As the front is the same cut as the back, I actually plan to reverse the top so that I get a plain teal with a cardigan or jacket in this capsule - I'm so clever!

This is the image on the top:
I love crows! I think the floral is their apple blossom motif.

The stuff:
Um, Inigo, do you mind?

Let's try that again:
These are my old faithful teal kitten heels (no idea when I last wore them). They aren't leather and they are getting rather worn out. I'm afraid they'll be getting tossed when this month is up. I'm hoping I can find something in Vancouver later on this month to replace them.

Do you know the "counting crows" poem? I learned it when I was about 13 years old, from this book. When the band Counting Crows was first around in the early 90s I recalled the crow poem and they use it in one of their songs. I still do it when I see crows.

One crow for sorrow,
Two crows for joy,
Three crows a wedding,
Four crows a boy.
Five crows for silver,
Six crows for gold,
Seven crows a secret
That's never been told.

Here's my other crow piece:
My Shi Studio leather wrist wrap. And my new thrifted leather cuff - a reader commented the last time she wore this that she saw them sold at Guess. How cool! A thrifted Guess cuff for only $2.00.

Sweater (Kersh), top (Hama Hama, Smoking Lily), pant (Kensie), shoes (Le Chateau, consignment), blue cuff (Shi Studio), black cuff (Guess, thrifted).

  1. Your mix of blues is twisted in a delightful way! Fantastic shoes too, they remind me of '80s Fluevog flats. I love Smoking Lily and enjoyed your investigative piece on that mysterious squid.

  2. We use a very similar poem, but for Magpies - 1 for sorrow, 2 for joy, 3 for a girl, 4 for a boy, 5 for a letter, 6 something better - and there's probably more I don't know :-). It therefore means its unlucky to see just one magpie, so when you do you have to say "hello Mr Magpie, how's your wife?" - yes, we're all barking mad here in Blightly ;-)

  3. Love the blue and green mix! I've never heard that poem before. I think crows are kind of creepy, but I hear they are very smart.

  5. I love your shoes, such an amazing color! The crow detail in the shirt is amazing. And I still can't get over how much your kitty looks like one of mine. Cute!

  7. I really like these colours together. Very complementary. I have a SL top with a crow on it to but on the bottom right front of the shirt.

Too bad there aren't any teal Fluevogs this spring.

  8. This is sooo awesome. I love crows and you've got not one but three! I know the "magpie" version, but I've always grown up with seeing crows as goodluck. I saw them on my wedding day, but also on other good days of my life. Plus they are downright hilarious birds if you ever see one not flying/down on the ground.

  9. Tat, I say 'hello mr magpie' three times when I see a single one.

Sheila, you look great in green and teal!

  10. Love the new pose.

I like the crows too but only when there are not too many of them. There is a whole pack in the park next to my house, sometimes they get very exited about something very early in the morning. And obviously wake us up :) Then I stop liking them for a while.

  11. Love your cuffs! :D I'm a big bracelet fan :) Really like the print on this tee too, it's lovely. Not sorrowful at all, even if it is only 1 crow!
