Happy Friday and weekend, everyone! It's been a long week, so I'm going to be brief - off to play "Arkham Horror" with L for the evening.
Speaking of Arkham, Roberta asked yesterday where the octopus motif comes from in steampunk. I'm pretty sure it is actually based on a combination of two sources: the first is the Elder God, Cthulhu, from H.P. Lovecraft's novels and stories. Cthulhu is a tentacled god, and the world of Lovecraft is in Victorian-era New England, the same time period as Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," which is the second source. The Verne novel features an encounter with the Kraken, a deep-sea giant squid type of thing. [links are all to Wikipedia]
Anyway, here's the outfit:
Woo! Windy! |
For Melanie, a tulip skirt:
Go visit Melanie - she's really cool! |
I'm wearing an olive sequined cami under the blouse (not part of the capsule).
And I'm cheating and wearing my plaid olive knee-highs underneath (and a vintage slip). Those are my wonderful metallic shoes with a bow, last worn here.
The chain on my necklace broke (boo), but I'll wear the pendant on my other silver chain.
Ooh, spooky full moon!
Hope you have a great weekend! I'll be unpacking my spring/summer clothes as well as doing my month-end summary - stay tuned!
Blouse (Planet, consignment), vest (RW & Co., thrifted), skirt (OptionElle, consignment), cami (Mexx, thrifted), shoes (Jeffrey Campbell), necklace (Raven's Rest Studio).
Tee hee - you mentioned me here? That's so cool! It IS a tulip skirt! I love your moon pendant, yes, it's scary fun. Your shoes are Jeffrey Campbell? Another favourite. I like his wicked sky-high ones too, but don't have any - YET.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit - really like the shoes with the socks! :) I thought they were really thick tights at first!
ReplyDeleteVery jealous you are starting to think about summery outfits as I'm thinking about pulling my winter woolies out!
Very nice outfit, skirt and vest, and those silver shoes look great with the knee highs. Must check out Jeffrey Campbell!
ReplyDeleteI love the pendant too - very atmospheric! Great outfit too. Are you glad your month is at an end and new clothes can come out?
ReplyDeleteFantastic pendant! Congrats on making it through a second month and still looking amazing!! Can't wait to see your month-end summary and all the new pieces for April!! xx
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes so much. And awesome secret socks. =)
ReplyDeleteThe tulip skirt is a great style on you.
is it a full moon? That might explain why I stayed up so late reading last night. As for the complimentary colors you find in this leopard blouse--I am forever amazed. BTW, I've begun thrifting for a purple brocade skirt...
ReplyDeleteThe 'vintage slip' photo made me smile! Always a great idea to throw in some leopard. Hope you're having a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteLoving the shoes and the cute socks, gorgeous hair.
