Funky Friday: Orange and Pink, and Lurking Critters

Hello, my friends! Mom and I did not have our weekly adventure this week- she just had her booster vaccine and wasn't feeling 100%. Conserve your energy, Mom! I spent the day doing choresy things and reading, enjoying a quiet day all to myself.

Back to work on Friday, and wearing a new-to-me shirt.
I love a mix of orange and pink.

  • Shirt - Tommy Hilfiger, thrifted; purchased here for $29.95
  • Skirt - Gianni Versace, vintage 80s, thrifted; first worn here in June 2022 with vintage silk
  • Shoes - Sole Talk Lenora, Fluevog; last seen here in May with lavender and dark floral
  • Blazer (below) - InWear; last worn here with these shoes in May!

See why I fell for this shirt? It's so perfectly cut.
It's also really long - meant for low-rise jeans from the early 00s, no doubt. The shirt is dated 2006.

I realized I had a lurker.
"I don't want to be in your picture, Woman."

The skirt is 100% linen and it's gorgeous. Real Gianni Versace from the 80s! Classy!
"This is my good side."

The orange blazer really pulled it all together.

It goes with everything.
I left the cuffs rolled up (to go with the white in the shoes) and pulled my shirt-cuffs and bracelets down.

Incognito.
More colour for Pride Month!

The stuff:
My poor toe is still rebelling against any pointy toes. These shoes are incredibly comfy.

Orange bling:
My usual set.

  • Silk scarf - Marc Rozier, consignment
  • Gold/crystal bracelet - D'Orlan, vintage 1960s, vintage mall, gift from L
  • Necklace - Banana Republic, consignment
  • Plastic cuff and ring - Italian, vintage 60s, vintage mall
  • Wooden earrings - vintage expo

Vizzini was not my only lurker in the past day - while Mom and I had a nice long chat, I spotted some critters in the maple trees alongside our building.
Squirrels! A grey one (the ringleader) and the black one (the follower). I suspect mother-teenager?

She seemed to be leading him all through the maple tree, showing him around. I'm 4 floors up and they were climbing much higher.
A pause to balance - it was really windy out, so the big branches were shaking up and down.

Mum's spotted me!
"Oh, you again."

I've had squirrel encounters in this tree before, like here in January 2021. I think this might be the same squirrel that glared at me here in February!

She called him over.
"Watch out for this one."

Hey, I'm harmless!
But they bounded off, leaping between branches.

Time to leave that weird lady in the window.
And I'm off now too - for the weekend, that is.

I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure - thank you so much for stopping by!

  1. COLOR! FIT! STYLE! Need I say more ;) And I quite appreciate your accessories, especially the necklace, earrings and plastic cuff. Orange always gets me smiling, whether on me or on someone else.

Here’s to a fabulous weekend for you and L! Fred’s had a promotion, of sorts. As of yesterday Clinic visits will now be every other week. Yippee!

    Cheers, Laurie

  3. Hello Sheila! I loved that blouse on the hanger and love it even more on you. A masterclass in outfit building and accessorising, too. Love how you've the turned up cuffs to match the white in the shoes.
Vizzini. you cannot escape the camera, try as you might.
Squirrels are cute but exasperatingly evil. We've constantly trying to find ways to make the bird food we leave out squirrel proof but the little sods are like something from Mission Impossible, scaling brick walls and sashaying along washing lines to get to the fat balls!
I hope your Mum feels better after her booster.
Have a fantastic weekend Sheila, L and Vizzini! See you soon! xxx

    1. Thanks so much, Vix! It was a successful outfit.

Aren't squirrels little devils? We have tons of them around here, and they are incredible at getting into everything.

  4. Ooh, pink and orange look uber cool together!
I don't think I've ever seen a black squirrel! I'm looking at them in a different light now, having discovered that they will steal baby birds. I caught one watching the blackbirds nest in our garden intently this morning. Nature can be very cruel. x

    1. One of my favourite colour combos, easily. I think the black squirrels are native to this area, and the grey ones are invasive species that have mostly taken over.

  5. Never thought pink and orange would look that good together. Very cheerful! We don't have squirrels here. They look cute.

  6. Both the shirt and skirt are nice. The shirt shouts, "Sheila!" I hope your toe feels better. The first and only time I've ever seen a black squirrel was during my visit to see you. I don't know if they live anywhere else.

  8. I really need to try orange and pink together more often - it looks amazing on you and I have plenty of bright pink in my wardrobe! the shirt and skirt are so good together, but the orange blazer is the perfect layering piece with them too.
