Fancy Friday: Creamsicle Bookends and Blue

I knew today would be quiet in the office, but I was still busy.
I like to up my colour game for June as it's Pride Month - I wear all the colours of the rainbow to show my support of LGBTQIA2S+ people.

  • Silk blouse - Sam & Zoe, thrifted; last worn here in August 2022 with...these same shoes! and a blue bird skirt
  • Yellow cami - Eileen Fisher, thrifted; purchased here for $6.95
  • Jeans - Articles of Society, thrifted NWT; purchased here for $24.95
  • Shoes - Mellow Bossa Nova, Fluevog; last seen here...with this same blouse! in August 2022
  • Leather jacket (below) - Elizabeth & James, consignment; last worn here (2nd outfit) on a shopping trip in April

Today's outfit is orange and blue. And a sneaky rainbow.
My newly-thrifted yellow tank isn't really visible here - I won't be tracking it going forward. It was awesome quality, though - very soft and it laid flat and wasn't visible through the silk blouse. Winner!

I almost always wear this top and these shoes together. I do like a formula.
I was flabbergasted to discover that the front pockets of these jeans are FAKE! Seriously? Designers?

I already have a pair of white jeans (these ones here (scroll way down) which have real pockets!)...but they don't make my bum look this good. These are longer, but also frayed at the hem and distressed on the leg/back pockets.
I had planned on dyeing these at Caro's pending Tie-Dye Party, but now I'm not sure if these are the keepers. I guess I'll see which pair will survive until dye-time, because...me and white jeans? They're going to get dirty!

Outerwear - it's down to single digits in the evening but it's up to 24 during the day. Perfect spring weather, but tricky to dress for.
I was only a little sweaty by the time I walked home. I'm never sad to wear this lovely blue leather jacket again, though!

The stuff:
I walked to work and back in these shoes - the toes are getting quite scuffed. I've had to touch them up with an orange highlighter multiple times.

Rainbow bling:
I had the outfit all put together - the blouse, jeans and shoes - and was at the accessorizing stage when I realized that this wonderful Kenzo vintage scarf would tie it all together.

  • Silk scarf - Kenzo, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Belt - Lady Footlocker, vintage 80s, thrifted
  • Silicon bangle - Materia Design, thrifted
  • Orange plastic cuff and ring - Italian, vintage 60s, vintage mall
  • Earrings - consignment
  • Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes

These colours all made me happy.

And now, happy weekend, my friends! I'm officially on vacation for a week, but it's of the staycation variety, so I'll be here and there, posting every few days. Please do check back!

  1. I love how colourful this is! I also really like the blue leather jacket topper! It was a cold end to autumn recently in Brisbane (not snow or anything, but record breaking cold temps for autumn) and so I've had my leather jackets out a lot. I've made great use of one I bought at the markets, for just $30 and so soft and worn in, it's amazing! But now that winter (and normal warmer temps) has arrived I'm feeling sad I didn't take my cobalt blue leather jacket out for a spin when i could. Hopefully I'll get to later in winter, if it's not as warm as it is predicted to be.

  2. Ah vacation! That's great. Especially when you stay at home, so relaxed, I love it. I don't own any white trousers, nor skirts or dresses. And no pockets is weird, for jeans anyway. But the orange looks great on white. Have a fabulous vacation!

  3. Like Nancy, I do not have any white pants, jeans, dresses or skirts but I do have a fabulous pair of cream trousers (never sure what to call pants that aren’t denim jeans and made of soft, hold-their-shape material and are not khakis.) These pants are fabulous for multiple reasons, one of which is they have never stained! No matter what I’ve gotten on them - including bicycle grease - they come clean.

The smiles that the contrast of bright white and bold oranges (okay, creamsicles!) provoke reaches all the way across continent to NY! Great to wake up to on this overcast Saturday morning. No complaints…it’s good walking weather and we just had two warm sunny days where going out midday was guaranteed to require gobs of sun protection.

Here’s to your week of vacation! Vizzini will be tickled to have you around!

    Cheers, Laurie

  4. White jeans (or in fact, anything white) + Ann = disaster :-)
I have to admit, though, that this pair looks fantastic on you, in spite of its shortcomings!
I'm loving the rainbow of colour you've added. That blue leather jacket is particularly gorgeous!
Have a fantastic week off, Sheila! I've got four more days of work, then a day of packing, and then we're off. xxx

  5. I keep looking for white trousers, but never seem to find anything that works. Those look great on you, pockets or not. Still, the thought of a cool tie dye...

  6. The top and shoes go so well together I thought they were sold as an ensemble. :) And my biggest shock when first trying on women's clothing was learning about fake pockets. That's ridiculous! Everybody can use a pocket.

  7. This outfit is soooo up my street. Love it. Great that you have the same earrings but in different colours, matching the scarf.
I am on the look-out for white jeans like this. This length and this width. It is going to be quite a search.

  8. As someone who has never liked white jeans you look so good in yours I'm starting to look at them in a new light!

  9. Your outfits always lift the spirits Sheila! I'm not sure a pair of white jeans would last more than one wear on me, but I do keep half an eye out for the perfect pair, as I have a couple of ideas for styling them. You look great in yours! x
