Mini Mom-Day: White Jeans and Comfort Fish at the Periodontist

Although I saw Mom today - I missed her last week! - I wasn't really aware of it.
Looking a little glassy-eyed from my sedative and a face full of freezing. I couldn't feel my tongue!

It was time for my periodontist appointment - they are every 6-9 months, and I am orally sedated for my scaling. I have had a lot of bad dental experiences, and I'm thankful that my dentist gets that and sends me to a specialist who came up with acceptable options to knock me out.
My happy pill takes a lot out of me, plus most of my lower head is frozen, and it usually takes me a couple of days to recover. I always need a comforting outfit!

  • Vest - Religion, consignment; last worn here in May with a puffy blouse and Boss Pants
  • T-shirt - Kenzo, consignment, Vancouver; purchased here for $55.00
  • Jeans - Cambio; last seen here (3rd outfit) in April for Easter Sunday at Mom's
  • Shoes - Karl Lagerfeld; last worn here in May for a Mom-Day at the Gorge Waterway

I built the outfit around my yellow fish t-shirt, which I bought way back at the end of March on our trip to Vancouver. I looked at it in my closet and thought "Comfort Fish."
T-shirts are a rather recent re-introduction to my wardrobe.

I was a fan of them in my early blog days, especially around 2009-2010 (two examples here from 2010 - you'll recognize this belt).
I rolled the sleeves up to make them hit at a better point on my arm, and paired it with white jeans. Easy!

These are my "other" white jeans - I like the lower legs of these, and that they are super-stretchy (good for sitting in the dental chair for an hour).
But they are too big in the waist by about 6 inches.

My belt cinches them in.
The white spot on my Comfort Fishes is a rubber patch showing Kenzo's famous wave logo (pic here).

I walked to my appointment - it was a sunny and warm day.
Got my sunblock and my shades.

Incognito.
My rock & roll vest has so many pockets (FIVE!) that I didn't really need a purse.

The stuff:
I started with the scarf around my neck, then moved it to the purse when I warmed up on my walk. These shoes are lovely and comfy.

  • Purse - Roots 73, consignment
  • Silk scarf - vintage, thrifted

Kitty bling:
They comfort me too. After I uploaded these pics I noticed that my customization to make them look like Vizzini had worn off, so I got out a marker and touched them up.

  • Belt - gift from Ruth
  • Leather cuff - Guess, thrifted
  • Steel cuff - thrifted
  • Porcelain cat earrings - Winnie Tam
  • Silver chain ring - Mexican, consignment
  • Silver/crystal ring - Soul Flower

The vet called about Vizzini's recent check-up - and it's good news. His kidney disease has not progressed, his blood pressure is normal, and his potassium levels are normal. His weight is down a bit and she was concerned that he wasn't eating, to the point where she suggested we go back to his old food just to make him eat.
"I've been telling you for years to feed me, Woman."

Fortunately, he's had no loss of appetite - he's VERY food-motivated - so we've increased his food to another quarter can in the evening, gradually upping his intake, to help him get some weight back on.
"That was a pleasant surprise."

It also has the happy side effect that he doesn't bother us in the morning!

Mom picked me up from my appointment and took me home, where we hung out with Vizzini and had a nice chat.
He was excited to see her - it's been a while!

But he was waiting for his dinner, so not inclined to get cuddly.
"How about now?"

Sated, he flopped on the tiles and enjoyed the warmth on glassed-in deck - toasty warm!
"I'm looking forward to Second Dinner."

And I'm looking forward to crashing and having a nap before L makes me dinner. I'm also signing off for the weekend - I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure! Have a rocking weekend, and may all your news be "Eat More."

  2. That's good news about Vizzini. I bought this season only tshirts, rather then other tops, don't know why. Just like them a lot at the moment. The white trousers look great, I love cropped trousers. Enjoy your weekend.

  3. Scaling is no fun. Glad your dentist has worked out something for you. Vizzini is looking well and who wouldn't enjoy a second dinner?

  4. I've had a lot of bad dental experiences too, will have to talk to my dentist about a happy pill option! Good news about Vizzini though!
Loving the t-shirt, I've recently bought a couple of t-shirts myself, after they've been absent from my wardrobe for many years. And of course I'm loving the Vizzini earrings! xxx

  5. Great news about Vizzini. Judging by the last photo, clearly the way to a cat's heart is also through his stomach! x

  7. I like the comfort fishes idea, and how you add little extra touches that make jeans and a tee look so cool! I can't quite carry off vets, I ended up donating the one I did try. Just something I admire on others :)
