Slouchy Pink and Indigo Velour Flashback

I've definitely settled into a groove with my "3-day-one, 1-off, 1-on" schedule. All my weeks feel short!
As it was "first Friday" (aka Wednesday), I went a little casual today.

  • Sweater - Massimo Dutti, consignment; purchased here for $25.00
  • Skirt - Sonia Rykiel, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in September 2022
  • Shoes - Miista; last seen here with lots of blue in April

I had to move a couple of 50-lb standing desks, wheel a giant cart down the street and climb up and down ladders (and stairs!) all day.
I chose sensible shoes, although I did try on these pink/purple boots (here), which matched the outfit perfectly. Toe Said No.

I liked the slouchy pink sweater, which was bought on a shopping jaunt with L last week as part of our annual stay-cation.
In keeping with my casual mood, I paired it with my lush indigo blue Sonia Rykiel velour (KLASSY) skirt.

We're going to have a wee Flashback on the skirt in a bit. I was shocked to see what I paid for it (it all becomes a blur, lol).
I love having high-end designer in my closet. Sonia Rykiel was an icon (about her here, link 'cause I love).

Incognito.
And sporting another female Classy designer, Jeanne Lanvin (about her here).

  • Scarf - Lanvin, vintage 80s, vintage mall

The stuff:
My colleague Sheila was surprised to see me wearing flats, but I've worn my "trout" shoes to work for dozens of their 50+ wears.

Copper bling:
I can see myself in the necklace dome!

  • Copper necklace - vintage 60s, consignment
  • Wide copper mesh bracelet - Renoir, vintage 50s, vintage fairSkinny copper bracelet - Renoir, vintage 50s, thrifted
  • Copper ball cuff - vintage 60s, vintage expo (has a matching necklace)
  • Earrings - vintage expo
  • Copper/enamel ring - vintage 60s, consignment
  • Copper ball ring - vintage 60s, consignment

Flashback: Sonia Rykiel Velour Skirt

I found this thick cotton-blend velour skirt at WIN here in June 2018, almost exactly 5 years ago. I was even on my usual June stay-cation when I bought it!
I was drawn to the material (it's very soft velour) and then the label. It also has an elastic waistband - hooray!

There are exposed seams on the sides, and a wide hem that's sewn down multiple times so that it hangs well and doesn't roll.
Sonia Rykiel was the first designer to do exposed seams EVER, so it's cool that my little skirt has this detail.

Made in France, 80% cotton/ 20% polyester, and it's got a lot of age on it. I think it's from the late 90s.
I'm shaking my head at the price! $6.95! Even second-hand, this could fetch up to $150.00.

I first wore it in June 2018 - enjoy my progressing hairstyles and colours! The first wearing of the skirt was the only dressy-work outfit I ever created with it.
I could still do this entire outfit - I have the jacket, top, skirt, shoes and even the earrings and belt.

Dressed for a trip to the periodontist in August 2018.
I wore it any time I wanted to be comfy. I still have all of this too - love my purple tiger blouse!

You'll recognize everything here, from May 2019. This was a Saturday shopping outfit.
My purple was nearly out of my hair, and I'd decided to grow out my grey.

Another shopping outfit, from August 2019. I had this shirt for years before I let it go when we were on holiday in Portland, Oregon.
I let go of these boots too - once we stopped having our groceries delivered, I didn't need "Sunday shoes" as much.

Pandemic time! It's May 2020, and I'm on my way to an outside, sit-far-apart Book Club. I sat on the grass.
I did not keep the suede jacket, but I have everything else.

Another shopping outfit, and there's today's shoes.
August 2021, and I'd just gotten my new prescription sunnies. Love that coat.

I had to show my double Rykiel here, from May 2022, a Saturday brunch look. The leather purse is another thrift find and is also a Sonia Rykiel.
I'm wearing a black thin sweater by her as well, under the purple sweater. Those are the boots I wanted to wear today!

And here's the last time I wore this lovely skirt, in September 2022.
Another shopping trip! The sweatshirt is another designer thrift find, by The Kooples.

Mathy stuff: Let's see...that's 9 outfits, so my cost-per-wear is 78 cents. Not bad!
