Silk Cocoon, 80s Leopard and Drapey Trousers

I've been looking forward to this outfit ever since I put it together last week.
None of it's new, although this is only the second time I've worn these trousers.

  • Silk cocoon - NancyMac, consignment; last seen here in July 2022 with brown linen and ruffles
  • Blouse - Escada, vintage 80s, thrifted; last worn here in September 2022 with shiny bronze pleats
  • Trousers - BCBG Max Azria, consignment; first seen here (4th outfit) in July 2022 with green Miu Miu
  • Sandals - Chie Mihara; last worn here (2nd outfit) in May with psychedelic jeans

They're a wonderful caramel colour, and they have pockets, AND an elastic waistband (in the back).
Add in a Swoosh Factor of 8 (very high) and these drapey trousers are destined to be a summer staple. They're even washable!

I was pleased with the rear view.
I like the surprise stripe on the back of my silk cocoon. I didn't realize that the print underneath showed through till I saw these pics uploaded.

Feeling louche-y and swooshy.
My coworker Ray admired my ensemble. "Great outfit!" Aw, thanks!

Without the cocoon, which I took off a couple of times - it likes to grab door handles, railings, chairs, drawers, you name it.
This top just screams "I'm from the 1980s!"

I can't resist the leopard plus gems plus chains.
It goes with the trousers well.

The stuff:
These shoes are shockingly comfortable - they don't squish my toes, and that's barely a one-inch heel. "Shoe Math!" I told my colleague Mike.

Gold bling:
I've had the belt since the 80s - I wore it to high school after filching it from Mom's dresser and never gave it back.

  • Belt - vintage 70s, Mom's
  • Hinged bangle - thrifted
  • Leaf bracelet - thrifted, Sidney
  • Silver/amber ring - consignment
  • Brutalist rings - vintage 70s, vintage mall
  • Earrings - Reiss, vintage 50s, vintage fair

I've had it longer now than she did.

  1. Ooo, that blouse is a stunner, EVEN while screaming 80s! Perfect combo with colors, swooshiness, and how all 3 pieces flow.

As for shoe math, yuh, I understand the concept, but these days I wince at the thought of not having feet in closer contact with the ground. Nonetheless, the shoes remind me of a much loved similar pair (mine in a burgundy and, if memory is correct, velvety material) from high school. Ah, the shoes I wished I saved, if only to admire in retrospect!

I’d love to see your Mom’s face (am imagining a big grin) when she reads this post…’ah yes, that belt…’. ;)

    Cheers, Laurie

    1. it's such a great blouse, thank you, Laurie! I enjoyed my swooshy ensemble.

Yeah, I get that - I do worry about falling over in high platforms, even if they are a net-1-inch heel. Oh, your velvety burgundy shoes sound amazing!

Hee, Mom knows I have it - she's seen most of the stuff I "liberated" from her in the 80s ! :-D

  2. Those trousers are magnificent and look absolutely incredible with the Escada blouse and silk cocoon. I'm swooning! But oh naughty you filching that belt from your Mom's dresser! Mind you, I have done things like that when in high school. And beyond! xxx

    1. Thank you, dear Ann! I was very into looting my mom and dad's closets in the 80s - I had no money to buy clothes, and there were all these things "no one's wearing", I thought at the time.

  4. Once again I'm loving how well all the colours coordinate there! those are awesome pants and I know you will get a lot more wear from them! I do have some similar pieces, a orange leopard tee and a burnt orange skirt and shorts, but I think the colours just won't work. I will have to try when it's warmer!
