A Lot of Plaid, Plus Squirrels

Today was an exhausting day - my brain is tired and wants to go watch "Wednesday" on Netflix.
I wore a lot of plaid today.

  • Blazer - Smythe, consignment; last worn here in November 2022 with a quad of plaid
  • Blouse - Tatum & Olivia, consignment; last seen here in November 2022 with 90s colours
  • Trousers - Talbots, thrifted; last worn here in November 2021 with triple plaid
  • Shoes - Matisse, Sidney; last seen here in October 2022 with leopard
  • Coat (below) - L'Atiste, consignment, Vancouver; last worn here in December 2022

I had a flurry of try-ons and experimenting with putting this with that in my closet yesterday after work, building a bunch of outfits for the coming week.
I haven't worn these trousers for over a year - I'm not sure if I'm feeling the slim cropped pant these days.

I wish they were big swooshy Boss Pants!
But they are wool and full-lined, so I am loathe to part with them. Quality!

Plus, you know, PLAID.
The jacket is incredible quality, although I popped the button off while putting on my walking shoes. I tossed a spool of thread and a needle into my bag and did a quick re-sew when I arrived at work.

Masked up.
This blouse is rather floofy!

Outerwear.
I have a total of FIVE plaids on today: the blazer, the trousers, the coat, the scarf and the gloves.

Pretty sure this is some sort of record.
I will celebrate by wearing my sunglasses for the sunny walk!

Accoutrements:
I stole L's scarf, heh heh. He wasn't using it.

  • Scarf - Roots, thrifted
  • Gloves - Echo, consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
These shoes are total workhorses and super-comfy to boot!

Spiky bling:
Tough stuff - Accessories As Armour!

  • Leather studded cuff - vintage 80s
  • Heart crystal cuff - Juicy Couture, consignment
  • Zipper rose - Victoria & Albert Museum gift shop, London
  • Necklace - Stella & Dot, thrifted
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
  • Kyanite/silver ring - consignment
  • Earrings - Glee

I was running late this morning, and just about to leave, when I spotted movement in the maple trees outside. SQUIRREL!
Well, hello, aren't you a cutie?

Then I realized, the tree was FULL of squirrels.
Two of them here...

And another one here.
This one looked at me for a while.

And this one, who was leaping around and chowing down on the moss.
Nom nom, yummy moss.

I caught this squirrel just as he landed on the ends of the boughs.
Action squirrel!

  1. Haha! The expression on the face of the first squirrel photo is hilarious!
As a Cold War obsessive, I'm calling your outfit Better Plaid Than Dead. Excellent pattern mixing and you know what Keith Richards once said, If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing! xxx

    1. My other half always says “ As Elvis said if it’s worth eating it’s worth over eating” after he gorges at mealtime

  2. Your jacket just oozes quality and I love the drama of that ruffled blouse!
We have loads of squirrels in our garden (we back onto woodland). They are very funny to watch, especially when they forget where they have buried their nuts. Have you ever noticed just how thin their tails are underneath all that fur? x

  4. That's why I always have a needle and thread handy at the office :-)
Excellent outfit, though. I love plaid and quintuple plaid is obviously even better. I guess the search for plaid Boss Lady pants is on! Just noticed your zipper rose, which is absolutely brilliant.
Oh, and thanks for the squirrel pics, which is just what I needed! xxx
