Laurie's Request: Blue Boots and Anna Sui

Thanks to friend and reader Laurie for today's outfit suggestion. She wanted to see these blue boots with my Anna Sui skirt, along with this cobalt blue sleeveless top.
You were right, Laurie, they all work beautifully together!

  • Jacket - /id collection/Peacock Jacket embellishments by me, thrifted; last worn here in February
  • Blue top - no label, thrifted; not tracked
  • Skirt - Anna Sui, thrifted; last worn here in November 2021 with burgundy bookends
  • Boots - Official Sabado, Fluevog; last seen here a week ago with blue and red/orange
  • Sleeveless coat - Only, thrifted; last worn here in February

Full confession: I had put the Anna Sui skirt in the giveaway pile.
I'd felt iffy about it both of the last times I wore it, but it has been calling to me....

"Sheila...take me back...I have more potential..."
And I do really love it with the blue boots. Excellent call!

I was casting about in my closet, looking for a topper for the outfit, when I had the inspiration to add my Peacock Jacket.
The colour, the roses...I liked how it worked.

Masked up.
And buttoned up. Although I only wore it that way while I had my sleeveless coat on.

Outerwear - there we go. Sleeveless coat - perfect for this time of year.
It poured on the way to work, but the beret kept most of my hair dry. I know it scares some of you that my artwork is being exposed to the weather, or wear and tear - honest, this ink is not going anywhere. It doesn't wear off at all. It's meant to be worn!

Accoutrements:
My pink set. I only needed the gloves on the way home.

  • Scarf - Portolano, thrifted
  • Beret - Club Monaco, thrifted
  • Gloves - consignment
  • Mask - by Mom

The stuff:
I bought sport insoles for these, which has snugged them up in the toe-box nicely, and given them an even cushier foot-bed. I did have to adjust the laces slightly, but not a big deal.

Gold bling:
Just a few complementary pieces.

  • Chain - vintage 80s, Grandma J's
  • Gold hoops - 5th anniversary gift from L
  • Brass ring - vintage mall
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

I have only a few outfits left in this closet season and only one request left unfulfilled yet, so I'll also be doing a couple of outfits with my own favourite(s) this week. Exciting!

  3. Oh thank you for trying out my outfit request! I am swooning because the combination simply makes me smile for its vibrant, bold, powerful yet gentle vibes. The skirt is adds the gentle touch - its lines, hem and pattern - along with the color and pattern of your peacock jacket. I am relieved you took the skirt out of the giveaway pile! In my opinion :-) the outfit looks fabulous on you. :-) And yay for your peacock jacket having another opportunity to strut its stuff!

  6. Don't you just love when someone gives you a great idea? I also feel your blue boots are giving you a lot of inspiration these days. That's what we should look for in a purchase- that it fits with our style and that it inspires us. Someone a new pair of shoes can be so inspiring. Anyway, I love your blue styling. The skirt you parted ways with is very cute but the real star of this look for me is your peacock jacket. It is a work of art.

    1. I do! I love hearing what people think, and I loved all of the suggestions for outfits. I've been drooling over these boots since they came out, and it was worth the impatience of waiting with all my gift cards before I bought them.

      Thanks so much!

    1. Lol, would Gershwin like this, though?? :D

Thanks, Kezzie! Yes, the Sui is now a keeper. I can't toss something that works so well with a piece of my art. Yes, the inks are fine - no rubbing can budge them.
