Weather the Storm: All the YSL Colours

It's been raining for two straight days and nights here, and now the wind is joining the party. One of the country's biggest internet providers (Bell) also went down due to multiple cuts in the fibre-optic cables, due to the weather. My office lost all internet/phone service for over four hours!

This "atmospheric river" can't pass quickly enough.
I wore a lot of colour today. It helped weather the storm!

  • Sweater - Tabi, thrifted; last worn here in March with a funky maxi skirt
  • Pants - H&M, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here in September layered under a dress
  • Shoes - Groovy Aubrey, Fluevog; first worn here in October with oodles of orange
  • Coat (below) - Jeno de Paris, vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in October

I built my outfit to showcase this YSL (which stands for Yves Saint Laurent, so classy!) scarf. Of course, I could have worn black with it, but where's the fun in that?
I am actually playing with colours that sort-of match. Not fuchsia pink, but candy pink.

Not teal green, but dark green.
Not cherry red, but dark orange. It doesn't have to match - it just has to go.

Masked up - in hot pink.
I deliberately positioned the tie on the scarf off to the side to show off the "YSL" logo. I don't usually like logos (they should pay ME for advertising!), but it's such a thrill to find a real piece of fashion history. I got to show it to the HR lady before she went home to try to see if she had internet there.

Outerwear - nice and cheerful and bright.
First wearing of the new-to-me beret, and it was...a beret. They are mostly the same. I liked that it did not blow off while I leaned into the wind on my walk home.

Accoutrements:
I mixed all my warm colours here: orange, two shades of pink and red. They popped nicely against the green leather coat.

  • Pashmina - Portolano, thrifted
  • Gloves - consignment
  • Mask - by Mom
  • Beret - Parkhurst, consignment; purchased here last week for $20.00

The stuff:
Don't all the colours look cool together? These shoes were heaven to wear.

YSL bling:
The belt is Yves Saint Laurent too!

  • Scarf - YSL by Yves Saint Laurent, vintage 80s, thrifted; purchased here for $36.95
  • Eelskin belt - Yves Saint Laurent, vintage, thrifted
  • Necklace - Givenchy, vintage fair
  • Bracelet - thrifted
  • Earrings - thrifted

Did you notice I snuck in another designer item? I paid $5.00 for this Givenchy necklace way back here in 2016.

I have been working hard on Tammy's birthday jacket and should finish it this week. I captured L and Vizzini having a moment last night when I took a break and stretched out my hand and shoulder.
"Gads, caught in a cuddle!"

Stay warm and snuggly, my friends! Thank you all so much for your kind comments and for visiting!

  1. Your outfit reminds me of The Beatles “Twist and Shout.” :) It has that vibrant energy designed to induce smiles and the sheen of those glorious pants says ‘movement’ to me. Mmm, seeing that picture of L and Vizzini has me picturing Robin and his Gigi…she is a cuddle cat and often is present when we FaceTime.

  3. That is one fabulous outfit, Sheila, providing oodles of colour therapy this side of the ocean. We might not have had stormy weather, it was utterly grey and murky for two days straight! Oh no about losing the Internet at your office. When that happens, we can't do anything really.
But look at you all classy with your YSL scarf! Of course you had to show it off!
I'm finding that there can be a huge difference in berets, by the way...
Love that photo of L. and Vizzini snuggled up together! xxx

  4. My dear Sheila!
A fab pink and green look, one of my fave vintage combinations.
I hear you on the internet - here it's awful service and we are just so dependant!
A big hug, thank you for always stopping by.

  5. I love how you matched the colours in your YSL scarf to your outfit. Those pink trousers are so fabulous!!! The shoes are pretty amazing piece on their own as well but they really shine in this outfit.
Losing an internet connection can be so frustrating, especially at work.
    Vizzini is so cute.

  7. This is great styling Sheila. I take my hat off to you. The pink trousers (they are so good) with the orange shoes and belt, the teal sweater and the scarf. Very very good styling. I would never have come up with this.
As for logo's I am like youL "they should pay me to advertise." But I get your enthusiasm for this piece.

  8. What a joyfully lovely outfit. Its colours make me think of a lush garden in full bloom right as spring teeters into the waiting embrace of summer.

  9. I was following the news of the flooding in BC last week. I'm glad you were ok in Victoria but I was so sad for the people (and animals) in Abbotsford and other areas that were hardest hit.
