Funky Friday: Doily Dress

Before we get going, just a quick note that my Mom gave me more info on some of the stuff in her studio (she made that copper picture!), so I've updated the post here.

*ahem*

Friday is here! Although my "day sense" is becoming jumbled with my on-off-on-off work schedule, I am still able to keep track of my weekends.
It felt like a "jammy dress" kind of day, and this corduroy one caught my eye as I browsed in my closet last night. It's warm enough that I have bare legs! First non-nylon outfit of the season - woo!

  • Dress - White Stuff; first worn here in January for my first day back at work after the holidays
  • Boots - Coffee Kope Tiam, Fluevog; last worn here for Christmas Day 2019 with a vintage 90s dress
  • Coat (below) - Club Monaco, thrifted; last seen here (2nd outfit) when I met John Fluevog in September 2019

After much consideration, and upon review of all the suggestions from the first time I wore this dress, the "winner" of the Name It is...Mel-Bee! She suggested doilies (wiki link here), and I'm inclined to agree (see a close-up of the dress' pattern here).
So, henceforth, it shall be the Doily dress. Why do I need a name? Because the brand is White Stuff...which makes it impossible for me to search for it on my own blog. I mention "stuff" in every single post...and I'm nearly at 3,200 posts. That's a lot of "stuff" to scroll through.
As suspected, it's much less clingy without a sweater or tights layered under it, and it was fabulously comfy to slouch around in my almost empty office today.
Outerwear - I'm nearly in the Coats As Sunblock season, where I'm overwarm from wearing a light coat, but prefer it over the gloppiness of wearing sunblock.
Get used to this jacket - I wear it a lot!

The stuff (see?? STUFF):
I realized after I'd gotten dressed, that both the boots and the dress had been in my fall/winter wardrobe - I do have some overlap from season to season. These boots are atypical for my very colourful shoe/boot collection as they are a fairly simple neutral colour and shape (the heel is so cool, though).

Funky bling:
I went with big and bold. Isn't that a fabulous necklace? Solid and heavy!

  • Necklace - Monet, vintage 80s, vintage fair
  • Earrings - vintage 80s, vintage fair
  • Onyx/silver ring - Toccara, vintage fair
  • Pearl/gold ring - Erth, consignment

Vizzini was lurking around this morning - he's not the only one getting discombobulated by our schedules.
"Is it cuddle time yet?"

Yes, buddy, very soon!

My friends, thank you so much for dropping by. Please stay safe and take care of yourself - I will be back on Sunday.

  1. I believe your mission is to go boldly through life in a fabulous wardrobe and I think that even if neutral, the boots have a great attitude! The doily dress (love the name) doesn't look like corduroy in the pictures - it must be a very fine wale.

OMG, I can't keep track of the days either! Somehow my husband is keeping track and always seems to know. I'll ask and he'll tell me and then get a bit (a lot actually) ticked off because I always go check. Trust but verify is my motto, lol.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    Keep well.

    1. Aw, I love that, Nana, thank you! I do like boots with attitude, ha ha! Yes, the corduroy is fine-wale and stretchy.

They all kind of blur, don't they? Ha, your husband - we all have our quirks.

      Happy weekend to you!

  6. My days are totally mixed up, especially from Thursday to Sunday, when I'm at home for 4 days. The in-between day on Tuesday is very strange too. But I guess it helps that L. is still going to the office, while Jos is at home all the time. Even Phoebe seems to find it strange that we're at home so much, and I'm not sure she particularly likes it :-) The Doily dress - a brilliant name - is gorgeous and that funky necklace is perfect with it. Oh my, no nylons? I'm still wearing them. Not that it hasn't been warm enough, I simply have to get used to the idea of being bare-legged. Yes, I know! Enjoy your weekend! xxx

    1. I know, it's such a jumble, isn't it, Ann? I find my on-off-on-off-on schedule rather tricky. It does help that L isn't home all day - I like having a couple of days to myself.

Thank you so much - I love this necklace! I know, and my legs were a bit chilled, but it felt so good. Happy weekend to you and Jos.

  7. That is such a great dress and I really like the black and white statement necklace with it! :) I'm finding it hard to keep track of days too - I'm hoping once life settles into a bit of a routine things will be more predictable and I'll feel I'm handling it all better!

  13. The Doily dress is a great and perfect name. I'm impressed that you can go without tights so early in the year. I'm starting to fake tan my legs in readiness for revealing them in May...

    1. Thanks, glad you approve, hee! I only went bare this one day - it's too cold again! I don't use fake tan, but power to ya!

  14. Jammy dresses are awesome! I used to have a couple (one from the 70s, another from the 80s that seriously channeled the 40s) pre-fire that I absolutely lived in. I mean, not a week went by usually that I didn't wear one or both of them. While I haven't yet found replacements that quite as awesomely PJ-like, thankfully I do have a three dresses (all black, as I tend to wear a lot more dark colours in recent years) that are almost pajama worthy in terms of their softness, comfort and long-term wearability throughout the day. As you might imagine, they see their fair share of outfit action as well. :)

Big hugs & happy wishes for a stellar weekend,
