Reddy-Orange or Orangey-Red?

When I bought this bright reddy-orange skirt on the weekend, I knew I'd be pairing it with this orangey-red jacket.
 It's practically a suit!

  • Jacket - Dex, consignment; first worn here in May with tweed and yellow
  • Blouse - Sanctuary, thrifted; last seen here in April with colour-blocking (and these same shoes)
  • Skirt - Mexx, consignment; purchased here for $20.00
  • Shoes - Sol Sana; last seen here (2nd outfit) in June with my Corey Hart concert tee

The weather's been cloudy and warm, but not hot. I varied my outfit by wearing it without the jacket whenever I had to do some running around.

It was mostly just while I unpacked and put away my office supply order, and at the end of the day when I have to climb up and down ladders to stock the coffee machines.

I have the bottom layer of the top tucked into my skirt.
The skirt was lovely - I really like this intense, almost neon red. I was sure it was orange when I bought it...

But now I can't tell if it's just a really orangey-red.
 Or is it reddy-orange?
"Enough jabbering, Woman, let me in the hall!"

I suspect I am overthinking this.

The stuff:
I liked the black-and-white mix of my blouse, so went with black and white shoes. Bonus: these are super-comfy, and as I'm still stiff from playing Ulti on Saturday, these were infinitely more comfortable than a heel.

Black and white bling:
I liked the bigass brooch on the jacket.

  • Brooch - vintage fair
  • Silver/onyx ring - Tocara, vintage fair
  • Earrings - vintage fair

How was your Monday?

    1. Thanks, Dar! I love that bigass brooch. It's so unusual (and it weighs a ton!).

  2. I love the two pieces together, even if the skirt is more reddish than you first thought, it is a nice colour either way! :)

  4. In the first photo the skirt looks red but in all the other photos it is clearly an orangey red. I love it with the jacket and the spotty shoes are gorgeous!

I'd like a nice orangey red lipstick....

    1. Yes, it reads as dominantly orange to me as well, Vronni, but it really does dip heavily into the red tones.

I struggle with orange-based lipsticks - they make my teeth look yellow!

  5. Often I get inspired by your outfits. I was going to bring a bag of clothes tomorrow to the second hand shop and included a similar skirt, only longer. I think I will pop it out of the bag and wear it with black and white! Thanks!

  6. Wow, your accidental suit is just eye-poppingly bright, whether it's reddy-orange, or orangey-red. What a feast for the eyes! I loved how you balanced it out with the white 'n black top, shoes and accessories! Just fabulous! xxx

  7. Love this outfit. Everything red(dish) is top in my book and the skirt as well as the jacket are perfect, in colour and proportion and fit and uniqueness. And the shoes I want for myself.

  9. It looks orangey-red to me! Your bright outfit looks great.
Your earrings are lovely too. I don’t tend to wear earrings, but I’m starting to really like them lately. I’ll have to have a sticky-nose through my mum’s earring stash and borrow some of hers! X

    1. Thank you! It felt almost like a suit!

Earrings can really make an outfit - they can pull in colours in the outfit, and they are a nice detail that draws the eye up to you face. You definitely need to rummage through mum's jewelry stash - that's how I "rescued" so much from my mom in the 80s!

  10. I agree with Vix, this colour is definitely "Naughty Tomato"! Love the vibrant colour - if you're going to wear a "suit", it should have a "POW" to it, and this one certainly does.

  11. I absolutely LOVE this outfit. The colors are stunning and the clothes look fabulous on you! I especially like how you echoed the grid of the jacket with the shirt, and that you thought to tuck in only one layer. You knocked it out of the park!
