Hello, my friends! The weekend is in sight!
Another lovely warm day - I feel for my friends worldwide who've been dealing with horrendously hot, record-breaking temperatures. We've thankfully escaped that here on the west coast.- Dress - Tabitha, thrifted; purchased here for $26.95
- Shoes - Effortless Vivian, Fluevog; last seen here in April with baby blues
- Cardigan (below) - no label, thrifted; not tracked
Anyway, a nice day called for a bright dress!
I had very positive reactions to my dress all day.
And you know what it reminded me of?
Yup, Lifesavers!
Better not wear this to the movies or someone will grab me thinking I'm a tasty treat (har har).
It was a lovely dress to wear in the office - no fuss, no pulling, no pinching. It is fully-lined (in tomato red) with no stretch.
I love that the red pattern down the front is embroidered, and not printed. Quality!
It's a little big on me, which is fine. I'll probably wear it a few times and then pass it along.
I wore my red cardi over it, just for walking to work.
But it does look great with the dress, doesn't it?
The stuff:
So many options for footwear with all that colour! I could have done orange, yellow, red, cobalt...and I went with baby blue! I liked how the white strap echoed the stripes of the dress. It just seemed to work.
Colourful bling:
I'm practically restrained at only three colours!
- Cuff - thrifted
- Bakelite earrings - vintage fair
- Orange ring - Italian, vintage 60s, vintage mall
- Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes
And there you have it! I'm off to relax this evening before our kitchen is torn apart tomorrow (STRESSFUL), and we have many adventures in store this weekend. Please do drop in on Sunday evening for tales of adventure! Have a wonderful weekend!
This is such a fun dress and looks so good on you, especially with the red cardi! I'm trying to be more colourful like this and pair bright colours with other bright colours, instead of going for a bright and a neutral all the time. A work in progress! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mica! I do love bright colours (wait till you see Friday's dress!).
DeleteI encourage you to mix your brights! A good rule of thumb, especially if you're a bit nervous about it is, if it can be found in Nature (eg. flowers, trees, animals), it will work in clothing. Go for it!
woww, love this dress, love its red embroidery! and love how you styled it with colorful accessories and baby-blue shoes!, those shoes totally rock actually!
ReplyDeleteI do love how the color of your glasses looks so enhanced with all these colors around you! Gorgeous!
besos
Thank you so much, Monica! If I had that perfect shade of red shoes in my summer wardrobe, I probably would have done those. As it is, I quite like the blue/white shoes - they are a little unexpected.
DeleteI know, who'd have thought that aqua glasses would be such a neutral, ha ha!
Your lifesavers dress is all kinds of fabulous, and how clever to wear those baby blue shoes with it. The white strap does indeed echo the stripes. Genius! I also love all your colourful bling. Good luck with your kitchen make-over and make sure to enjoy your weekend adventures! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Ann! I felt awesome in my rainbow of colours. Thank you - gah, kitchen renos will be the death of me. Happy weekend to you and Jos.
DeleteI think the Lifesavers dress is a keeper. And I just adore Bakelite earrings, anything Bakelite really! X
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty - I like it, but don't love it. Thanks, me too - Bakelite is very cool stuff.
DeleteLove, love the outfit! We call Lifesavers Fruit Polos here - very tasty!!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Fruit Polos! Thanks, Vronni!
DeleteI've never been through any home renovations but I've heard from friends who have that they are hell, so I hope yours goes smoothly. Stripes are great for summer, especially in Lifesavers colours.
ReplyDeleteSigh, they never go smoothly. Thanks for the good vibes!
DeleteI adore how bright this is and you're right on with the comparison with the life saver candy. It's such a fun outfit.
ReplyDeleteThank you, my dear! It was a fun outfit to wear!
DeleteWhat a fabulous dress. We have this candy here in the UK, but they're called fruit polos. You look adorable in this this OOTD x
ReplyDeleteAh, someone else mentioned that - interesting! Thanks, Anna!
