There's nothing like a nice short work week - one more day, and then we're golden. Or pink.
How about pink and white?- Silk blouse - INC, vintage 90s, thrifted; last worn here (2nd outfit) in August 2018 with pink pants
- Skirt - Angeleye, consignment, Vancouver; last seen here in May with picnic plaid and orange pops
- Shoes - Prophecy, Vancouver; purchased here for $25.00!
It's taken me a while to figure out what to wear with these pink and white shoes that I bought in Vancouver in June.
I actually had this outfit put together with a different pair of shoes and then realized how well these shoes would work with it instead.
I'm so clever!
I do love this high-low skirt, though.
And the blouse screams quality - look how symmetrical the fabric is!
Today was still cooler temps (we're only in the very low 20s here), but I didn't need a coat with long sleeved silk. I also have a white cami layered under the shirt.
The stuff:
There they are, the stars of the outfit! My farting shoes! As they are a smidge big on me, I put silicon inserts in them, both on the soles and at the heels to make them fit tighter. It worked wonderfully, but as my feet got warm and slightly sweaty, I squeaked like sneakers in a gymnasium. I had to just laugh and own it! Next time, nylons!
Aside from the shoe-farts, they were awesome and much admired.
Pink and white bling:
I really liked the copper with this. Copper + pink = win! Who knew?
- Leather belt - vintage 80s, thrifted
- Necklace/earrings - vintage 60s, Matisse, vintage expo
- Gold/amethyst ring - Frances Jewelers, c. 1965, Dad's
- Pearl ring - Erth, consignment

I am off for the weekend now, but I'm going to leave you by sharing some links to a wonderful friend, my OG* blogger buddy Wendy Brandes (all links because I love, of course). Wendy and I have known each other since around 2008 when we both started blogging - I never miss one of her posts. She wrote an article for the Huffington Post in 2010 about the "Leopard Week" I threw in her honour after she was a "don't" in the press over a wonderful leopard dress, and I've bought some of her jewelry (this ring, this ring and these rings).
*original gangsta = we go way back
We've always reciprocated links on each others' blogs and given shout-outs, and lately I've been enjoying her videos, especially about vintage clothing - I've learned a lot from her. I'm honoured that she's featured me (blush!) in her latest video, in her post here.
As a little thank you to Wendy for being such a cool person, here are some posts from our blogging friendship over the past decade. I hope you will check them out.
Leopard Week:
My Wendy Brandes jewelry collection: (I purchased everything, no freebies! I support art!)
This is one of the best things that blogging has brought to my life: this connection with other women who are strong, funny and creative. Thanks for the memories (old and new!) and for your friendship, Wendy.
And to all my friends, have a lovely weekend - I'll be back on Sunday.
Very clever of you coordinating the shoes to your outfit.
ReplyDeleteI saw you featured in Wendy's youtube video. The friendships you make through blogging are so lovely. X
I know, aren't I the clever one, Jess, lol. Thanks for reading that! Blogging is so rewarding!
DeleteYour blouse is gorgeous, it's got a touch of the Pucci going on, always a good thing! Farty feet! That made me giggle.
ReplyDeleteWendy is fab, isn't she? xxx
It does - it always makes the cut in my closet due to the high quality of it. It's that lovely thick, soft silk too (and washable!). Hee, the shoe farts got worse as the day went on too!
DeleteWendy is awesome!
It's awesome Wendy featured you in her video! :) I'm pleased you had the perfect outfit to wear these shoes with, even if they were a bit too noisy when worn, haha!
ReplyDeleteIt's so cool, Mica! Thanks for checking it out. I know, I had to laugh - so farty!
DeleteWhat a sweet outfit. Delightfully feminine.
ReplyDeleteAll that PINK! Thanks, Ally!
DeleteHow absolutely amazing that you're featured in Wendy's video! What's also amazing is that stunning blouse you're wearing. I love the whole outfit, but the blouse simply stood out for me. Although the necklace and earring set is pretty fabulous too! Great shoes too, but I'm hearing you! I've had occassions of "shoe farts" happen to me too ;-) Have a fantastic weekend, Sheila! Mine's going to be busy as I'm doing the yearly flea market on Sunday! xxx
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun? She's such a sweetheart.
DeleteThank you, Ann! I knew when I found the blouse that it was stellar quality. Ha, I'm glad I'm not alone in my shoe farts!
Happy weekend to you as well, my dear! Good luck at the flea market!
In love with that gorgeous silk blouse and cream skirt! I'm always looking for a combo like that. How funny, having farty shoes! I recall some wedges shoes of yore used to do that!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Gail! Ugh, shoe farts are the worst!
DeleteAw, thanks for all the links! It makes me so happy you kept up the blogging, old-school! I have TOTALLY experienced shoe farts too!
ReplyDeleteYup, I love it, Wendy! So glad you're still OG too!
DeleteGlad to see the shoes get an outing. Too bad about the farts though; I have a couple of pairs of shoes that do that and it gets very annoying (and somewhat embarrassing).
ReplyDeleteYes, it can be really embarrassing! I'm hoping that it resolves when I'm wearing nylons.
DeleteI can't do hi lo skirts, I've tried though! For me they're difficult to wear.
ReplyDeleteI think the shoes are a fabulous statement piece and yes they rock with the copper accessories.
Really! I like them, even though they are no longer trendy. I love the shoes, but I hope they don't fart when I wear them with nylons!
