Canada Day, Eh?

I usually do a more red-and-white Canada Day outfit for our July 1st national holiday, but since I hid from the world mostly stayed home yesterday, I kind of did it today instead.
Only I wore this new-to-me cotton/hemp skirt instead of a white one. Close enough! Now I can wish my US friends a Happy 4th of July!

Canadians are known for saying, "Eh" (rhymes with "hay") - and we do! It basically means, "don't ya think?" or "wouldn't you agree?" as in "Cute top, eh?" or "That was a beauty of a sunset, eh?" However, we don't expect an answer - it's more of a rhetorical "eh." Hee hee! Now you can all speak Canadian!

  • Top - Le Chateau, consignment; last seen here (3rd outfit) in September 2018 for the long weekend friends gathering
  • Skirt - Smoking Lily, thrifted; purchased here for $6.95
  • Star Wars "I Know" shoes - Poetic Licence, gift from Louise; last seen here (2nd outfit) in May for a shopping expedition
  • Coat (below) - Avoca; last worn here in May

I have worn this top with a white skirt before (here, 2 years ago), again for Canada Day.

I like the longer length of it - it covers waistbands well.

Since I haven't worn this skirt before, I wasn't sure how it would behave, but it was lovely to wear.
Those wrinkles on the bum got worse over the day at work. I think this will be more of a weekend skirt than a work skirt - it also reads as denim, which is a little too casual for work most days.

However, since I'm now off work for a whole week (!!), screw it, ha ha! I only went in for one day to a) deal with the 3 new people who started today and b) clear the decks for being off for a week.
Look at that smirk! That's the face of someone who can't wait to have some real time off! Boo-yah, bring it on!

Coated - yes, it was very chilly this morning, and rained most of the day.
I was soaked with sweat by the time I walked home.

The stuff:
My wonderful Star Wars shoes. Aw! Carrie Fisher!

Blue and silver bling:
Harrison Ford was such a sexy beast - rowr!

  • Cuff - thrifted; purchased here for $6.95 - first wearing
  • Sterling silver necklace pendant/earrings - M&M, consignment, Vancouver
  • Silver/stone ring - purchased here for $26.00
  • Lapis lazuli ring - Wendy Brandes

So, my friends, I am off for a whole week.
"What? Wait, you're LEAVING ME? I did not approve of this!"

I have not lined up any posts while I'm gone, but I hope you'll pop in next week to see what I've been up to (tease: I'm flying somewhere, and I'll be seeing an east coast blogger I've met twice before).

  5. Happy Canada Day, belatedly. This is a perfect outfit for it. I wore some red pants, my sole concession, but felt rather dressed for the occasion.

A whole week off - have an awesome trip! There are lots of good times ahead. Can't wait to read about them when you return. The office won't know what to do without you, but absence makes the heart grow fonder. xo

  9. Hope you're having an excellent week off (I know where you are for part of the week!). I hid from the rest of the world for Canada Day too. I don't think I've ever actually said "eh" - perhaps I'm not a true Canadian?

  11. Thanks for the Canadian lesson, Sheila! I love the top, which I think works well with the denim skirt. Hope you have the most fabulous time off ever! Poor Vizzini, though. Phoebe's been very vocal since we came back yesterday. Apparently, she has missed us! xxx

    1. Ann! You're back! Thank you, my dear. It's been wonderful, although, yes, Vizzini has been so needy. They "say" they don't care, but the little furballs really do miss us!

  12. Hope you have a marvellous time off, eh?! Hurrah for vacations! Are you seeing Ally?
Loving the red Oriental top- looks really pretty with that skirt- which is a great length! Your Irregular Choice (not Poetic License- these are too quirky for PL!) shoes are great! I loved the Star Wars releases they had! I loved the fact you discussed wrinkles on bottoms with us! Linen always creases shockingly!!
    Hope you are well.xx

  13. Very cool skirt and made of hemp... I had a pair of jeans that had bamboo and they were very easy to wear.
I recall your first posts when Smoking Lily was one of the the brands you'd come across and be super excited about :)

    1. Hemp stuff wears like iron but it doesn't hold dye that well. All the hemp things I've owned have faded badly. Yes, I used to be huge into Smoking Lily! It has to be a really special item now for me to buy it.
