Banana Bird Butterfly

As usual, I save my personal favourite outfit for Thursdays, to show off to my WW group. Today's outfit had a lot of fans.
In particular, people liked the colour combination, and were not shy about telling me what I reminded them of!

  • Silk shrug - Nancymac, consignment; purchased here for $40.00
  • Cashmere sleeveless sweater - J. Crew, consignment; last worn here in April with the brolly skirt
  • Skirt - Miss V by Valentino (part of a suit), vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in January with green dots
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last worn here in May with zigzags and citrus

Of course, I had to pull all the colours out of the silk shrug to make the rest of the outfit. The yellow-brown combo made a few people think of bananas.
Nothing like some bright yellow to pop against a boring skirt (it's Valentino - super classy!).

While the yellow of the cashmere sweater was not quite the same warm yellow as on the silk, it was close enough.
My wings billowed! I swooped and swirled.

"You're a butterfly!" exclaimed one of my coworkers.
"No, a bird! A [insert some specific bird name here - I don't remember] bird!"

The stuff:
Bright yellow shoes because they are awesome!

Beaded bling:
Brown and purple are really close together, so I did purple-y accents in my accessories - my lipstick was purple too! You don't always have to match everything exactly. Close enough is good enough.

  • Top necklace - Oscar & Libby's
  • Middle necklace - 2028, The Bay
  • Venetian glass necklace/earrings - gift from L, Venice, Italy
  • Ring - c. 1996

So, I'm a Banana Bird Butterfly, a very rare creature indeed! I am ready to take off!
Have a wonderful weekend, my friends! I'll be back on Sunday with tales of adventure!

  5. You are an exotic butterfly bird, a very rare and nearly extinct species! What an utterly fabulous outfit, Sheila, no wonder it's your favourite and wanted to show it off! The silk shrug is beyond fabulous, well done on spotting its potential. The Venetian glass necklace and earrings set is out of this world. Have the most wonderful of weekends, Sheila! xxx

    1. Isn't it funny how we get so wrought up over colour not quite matching, Greetje? Thank you, ha, yes, I'm singing! I've been seeing neon shoes all over the place (online). I'm ahead of the trend!

  8. You are a very rare creature indeed! I admire how you incorporate yellow into your wardrobe; I purchased a yellow sleeveless t-shirt to wear with my patterned floaty pants and it was no doubt due to your influence.

  10. Oh wow, this looks amazing, I did not recognize the Valentino skirt. What a great job you have done putting these pieces together. You do not remind me of a banana or a bird or a butterfly, its just very cool.
