As usual, I save my personal favourite outfit for Thursdays, to show off to my WW group. Today's outfit had a lot of fans.
- Silk shrug - Nancymac, consignment; purchased here for $40.00
- Cashmere sleeveless sweater - J. Crew, consignment; last worn here in April with the brolly skirt
- Skirt - Miss V by Valentino (part of a suit), vintage 80s, thrifted; last seen here in January with green dots
- Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last worn here in May with zigzags and citrus
Of course, I had to pull all the colours out of the silk shrug to make the rest of the outfit. The yellow-brown combo made a few people think of bananas.
While the yellow of the cashmere sweater was not quite the same warm yellow as on the silk, it was close enough.
"You're a butterfly!" exclaimed one of my coworkers.
- Top necklace - Oscar & Libby's
- Middle necklace - 2028, The Bay
- Venetian glass necklace/earrings - gift from L, Venice, Italy
- Ring - c. 1996
So, I'm a Banana Bird Butterfly, a very rare creature indeed! I am ready to take off!
This is such an awesome outfit Sheila! The yellow really makes it stand out! I love that shrug / kimono too!ReplyDelete
Thanks so much, Mica! I love this bright yellow - any excuse to wear it! I know, isn't it an amazing piece?Delete

Love the Venetian glass necklace. L has such good taste! Have a lovely weekend.ReplyDelete
My birthday present from when we were in Venice. I love it, even though I don't wear it a ton. Thanks, Vronni!Delete
You are an exotic butterfly bird, a very rare and nearly extinct species! What an utterly fabulous outfit, Sheila, no wonder it's your favourite and wanted to show it off! The silk shrug is beyond fabulous, well done on spotting its potential. The Venetian glass necklace and earrings set is out of this world. Have the most wonderful of weekends, Sheila! xxxReplyDelete
Hee hee, yes, very exotic! Thank you so much, Ann! I loved the shrug and can't wait to wear it again soon - it's great sunblock. I love the Venetian set - it's very special to me.Delete
Thanks, Ann! I hope you and Jos have a fun weekend too!
I agree on the colour: close enough is good enough. Took me years to embrace that. So happy I have.ReplyDelete
Indeed this outfit is singing. Like a bird haha. Love it.
And love the shoes of course.
Isn't it funny how we get so wrought up over colour not quite matching, Greetje? Thank you, ha, yes, I'm singing! I've been seeing neon shoes all over the place (online). I'm ahead of the trend!Delete
Wow, how gorgeous is this look Sheila! I don t think I have ever worn brown and yellow together. Those shoes are adorable! Enjoy your weekend!ReplyDelete
Thanks so much, Nancy - it's about time you tried, then, my dear! Hope you had a happy weekend too.Delete
You are a very rare creature indeed! I admire how you incorporate yellow into your wardrobe; I purchased a yellow sleeveless t-shirt to wear with my patterned floaty pants and it was no doubt due to your influence.ReplyDelete
Hee - I love yellow, so it's no hardship. I'm glad you have a little in your wardrobe!Delete
Oh that jumpsuit! Looks like it was made for you and you're delightfully Visible. Great shopping, as always, love the see by Chloe blouse. Stay fab, xox.ReplyDelete
Oh wow, this looks amazing, I did not recognize the Valentino skirt. What a great job you have done putting these pieces together. You do not remind me of a banana or a bird or a butterfly, its just very cool.ReplyDelete
It's a sneaky skirt - just setting the background for this breezy cover-up. Thank you!Delete
Totally agree that close enough is good enough!. Love how you created something so Fabulous wearing a brown skirt, adding really cool accents and Yellow!!, love you in yellow! and your yellow shoes!ReplyDelete
Amen, sister! Thank you! The best way to make brown work is to wear it with a bright!Delete
This is a gorgeous outfit! Yes, you could be chocolate coated bananas but actually the colours remind me of the Brownie uniform! The Kimono is beautiful! How enchanting to have wings!!!ReplyDelete
Oh, ha, yes, the Brownie uniform - love it. I was a Brownie for many years! Thanks, Kezzie! The wings were the best part.Delete
