It has been a long day, so forgive my brevity, my friends. Let us look at the outfit.
I knew as soon as I found this top, it would have to be worn with these shoes.- Blouse - EShakti, thrifted; purchased here for $7.50
- Skirt (from a suit) - Miss V by Valentino, vintage 70s, thrifted; last seen here in September 2018 with the olive blouse
- Shoes - Poetic Licence; last worn here in November 2018 with swirls of colour
- Leather trenchcoat (below) - vintage 70s, thrifted; last worn here yesterday
I liked the blouse when I purchased it, and I'm even more of a fan now that I've discovered it has a side hidden zip. Seriously, it was very well-hidden.
I had quite a wrestle getting it on this morning. Even with the stretchy section at the back, it was a snug go.
I could not have picked a more perfect pairing then this blouse and these shoes - I had a ton of comments on them at both jobs.
In case you are glazing over at my brown-paper-bag boring skirt, please note that it is VALENTINO. Yes, THAT Valentino (here, Wiki). And it has pockets. This is the full suit here (pic), thrifted for $12.00 here in June 2016.
I quite like the cut of this blouse overall. I did not wear a camisole under it, and had to mind the cleavage a bit, but I love the high waistband, and the asymmetrical swatch of fabric in front.
That's a brooch I pinned on the waistband - it made the outfit cohesive, linking the jewelry and the shoes. "The eye has to travel," said Ms. Diana Vreeland (here, Wiki)
Outerwear - it has progressed from raining cats and dogs to raining lions and wolves. Ginormous
I never get wet in this hat or coat. Vintage rain-gear is the best!
- Hat - Edward Mann, vintage, thrifted
- Scarf - thrifted
- Gloves - Parkhurst
One of my colleagues was shocked that I'd worn this hat in the rain. That's what it's for!
The stuff:
My beloved Kermit shoes! I have had these shoes since January 2012 (here)- they're one of the older pairs in my collection. It only took me seven years to find them a match in the blouse!
Crystal bling:
The aqua crystals on the shoes prompted me to go with a complimentary blue palate for my bling. They don't match exactly, but they do "go".
- Necklace/earrings - Sherman, vintage 60s, thrifted
- Brooch - vintage fair
- Fulvia Ring - Wendy Brandes
I could get used to a three-day week - Friday tomorrow, woo hoo! I will be back on the weekend with tales of adventure!
Oh dear, I don't like the sound of rain like lions and wolves! It's icy cold here this morning but dry and sunny, no so much of a challenge in the getting dressed stakes.
ReplyDeleteThe green blouse is a dream, I love a concealed zip but that one sounded particularly sneaky! The Kermit shoes are utterly brilliant.
Have a fab Friday, Sheila! xxx
But today we are back to sun! It changes very quickly here. Thanks so much, Vix! Happy Friday to you!
DeleteNow Sheila I adore anything in green, and those shoes are the bomb! I have a lovely pair of green sequinned shoes which are waiting for their moment - you've just reminded me, so I will be showing them off soon! Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteThey're pretty cool, aren't they, Gail? You should wear those sequined shoes! Happy New Year to you!
DeleteFirst the shoulder, now a waistband -- you put jewelry everywhere! Can't wait to see what unexpected place it appears next. :)
ReplyDeleteI do! I've worn brooches on the back of a jacket before too, to pull it in more.
DeleteThat blouse and those shoes indeed make a perfect pair. And I think adding the brooch to link your jewellery to the shoes is genius! Oh, these hidden side zips can be quite elusive. The number of times I tried to wiggle into a dress or top, only to discover the side zip later, at which point I've started to think of scissors ... Have a fab weekend, my dear! xxx
ReplyDeleteSuch a great match, hey, Ann? I felt very clever about the brooch at the waist. Gah, the hidden zip - I was mad at myself, as I usually find them right away. Happy weekend!
DeleteLiking this outfit
ReplyDeleteFrom head to toe.
Along with the crystals,
You surely do glow!
The top is fabulous for it’s cut and for being “different” and it’s proportions and color look lovely on you.
Here’s to MORE short work weeks and MORE long weekend!
Ooh, I got a poem, thanks, Laurie! I quite like the top - but I've put it into the spring wardrobe now that I've worn it once with the shoes (which stay out for spring/summer).
DeleteOh, gads, yes, bring me more short weeks/long weekends!
That is such an amazing coat. Love the colour very much. And the shoes are like a treasure. I think I wouldn't even wear them. Just stare at them. Happy weekend love.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy! I see vintage leather trenchcoats like this quite frequently in the thrift stores here.
DeleteHa, I am very careful with them, as they are actually WOOL. I don't wear them in the weather, ever.
So glad you found a friend for your shoes! Both the blouse and shoes are wonderful - they're green! LOved the idea of pinning a brooch to the waist band of the blouse to match the sparkly bits on the shoes.
ReplyDeleteThe weather sounds horrendous - we're just freezing...
Have a great weekend!
Me too, Vronni! It felt like fate. I was quite pleased with myself for putting the brooch on the waistband.
DeleteIt has been nasty off and on, but today is lovely. Happy weekend to you!
I love the lines on theblouse and the shoes that match so we'll...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rebecca!
DeleteAwesome outfit! Gorgeous shoes and sparkly jewelry.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Thanks, Cheryene!
DeleteWhat a sensational
ReplyDeletepairing Sheila. The two pieces are fabulous together and what a happy serendipity that you found that blouse. The brooch on the midriff is brilliant too. Yes to side zippers.

Thank you, Elle! I couldn't believe my luck with it.
DeleteLakes, wow! The leather trench is perfect for the weather then! Enjoy the weekend. X
ReplyDeleteI kid you not! Happy weekend to you too, Jess!
DeleteThe style of the blouse is SOOOO flattering! And of course, it coordinates perfectly with those shoes.
ReplyDeleteI just love it - such serendipity!
DeleteThose two pieces together are like Christmas morning all over again! You look fab, and ahem, Valentino is divine. xox
ReplyDeleteAw, that's so sweet, thanks, Patti!
DeleteYou know I am a fan of that skirt. This is such a great pairing Sheila, specially the matchy-matchy top and Kermit shoes.
ReplyDeleteI know! I thought of you when I put it on. :)
