Coppers and Sunflower Brollys

Ah, my friends, the weekend is in sight. Today was a busy day and a long day, and I need to put my feet up.
This skirt was perfect to lift my spirits. How can you not love a sunflower brolly (umbrella) print?

  • Cardigan - Wolford, thrifted; last worn here in September 2018 with a ginormous flowered skirt
  • Sleeveless cashmere sweater - J. Crew, consignment; last seen here in October 2018 with bright springy colours
  • Skirt - SP, Lazy Susan's; last worn here in August 2018 with this same cardigan
  • Shoes - Big Presence Desmond, Fluevog; last seen here in March with green and gold
  • Leather coat (below) - Danier Leather; last worn here in February

I do find this skirt a challenge to style - it's very long and very full, so it needs a slim top and heels.
I am not always in the mood for those things! It also really only works with black and yellow, and believe it or not, it's not white. Really! It's more of a very light yellow. White looks weird with it.

This black sweater is amazing quality - I still can't believe I thrifted it for only $19.95 last summer.
It ties in the back and has nice long sleeves for temperature control.

The yellow top is a sleeveless cashmere sweater - nice and warm and such a sunny colour.
The skirt has pockets - yessssss.

Outerwear - of course, I had to wear my yellow leather jacket. I've had this since 2010 - my cost-per-wear must be down around $1 now.
Yellow is the colour that cheers me up the most.

Zipped up.
I enjoy "leather weather" because I get to wear all my fun and bright coats!

The stuff:
Shiny shoes! Comfy, but my feet are tired now.

Copper bling:
I really liked how well this necklace worked with the outfit. Wearing any of my copper collection makes me feel good.

  • Necklace/earrings - Matisse by Renoir, vintage 60s, vintage expo
  • Cuff - vintage 70s, vintage expo

I went looking for Vizzini before I left for work this morning. There he was, snuggled on my robe, snoozing on the bed.
"Come get some kitty love."

I could hear him purring. We had a nice snuggle - best way to start my day! I never begrudge being a little late due to giving my kitty some attention.

I will be back in a few days with tales of adventure and shenanigans - have a wonderful weekend, my friends! Thank you for stopping by!

  1. What a fantastic print, sunflower umbrellas! I must lift everyone's spirits when they see you in that beauty. The yellow jacket is utterly fabulous and a perfect fit.
Wolford! No wonder you love wearing that cardi, its one of the best knitwear makers. My grandma used to swear by their tights.
Vizzini looks very snuggly on your robe, they're irresistible when they're all cosy like that, aren't they?
    Have a fab Friday. xxx

    1. Thanks, Vix! I always get strong responses to bold prints like this. Yellow is not for everyone, but people really love to see it on me.

I know, right? I knew the name and quality, so I gasped at $19.95. Such a deal!

Yes, totally irresistible. What a little cutie.

      Happy weekend, my dear!

    1. Thank you so much, Mim! I was asked by a reader a few years ago about my outerwear, so I started featuring it in my posts, and like you, I realized, "I gotta up my game!" Watch out! Now I have about 30 coats!

    2. Ditto on Vizzini and snuggles. Pairing the Renoir pieces with the the sunshine colors is genius.

  6. From the little pictures beside one another on bloglovin, I thought the skirt also looked great with the chartreuse from the previous outfit. I was going to suggest that pairing but see you want a fitted top with this. However, maybe the lightness of the fabric of the Miumiu top would mean the volume didn't matter, or maybe it could be tucked in, or maybe a different chartreuse top could work? Or how about pink or turquoise or grass green or light blue? Just thinking of the potential for variety; your ensemble here is quite perfect!

    1. Although I feel "yes" to the colour, the styles of the top and skirt don't really look right together. The skirt's fabric is very sleek and bold, and the top is quite blousy and more in the fussy vein. I have done pink with it, great idea! I need to play with it more!

  7. One cannot help but feel cheerful when spying sunflower brollies! I'm hearing you on the styling challenged, though. Just adding yellow might have been too safe, so I think adding the black cardigan, as well as the copper shoes and bling makes it perfect. Oh, and I think I need a yellow leather jacket! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend, Sheila! xxx

  8. That is a treasure of a skirt! I understand how difficult you find to style it. I have two similar (difficult to style) skirts that I am going to post about in my next post so would appreciate any help! I love the outfit with the beautiful yellow leather jacket and those shoes...oh my! The necklace with the matching earrings were fab!

  10. It is great to start the day with the cuddles from your kitty. As you can imagine I adore this umbrella print. The happy yellow is the perfect complement and that leather jacket is an amazing buy. A dollar per wear is quite the accomplishment. KUDOS and hugs ! .

  14. Yellow is such a joyful colour, but whenever I've tried to wear anything yellow it doesn't suit me. I know it's all about the shade of yellow, so hopefully one day I'll find something that I can wear. This skirt definitely requires a fitted top and the top and sweater pairing looks great.
