Mustard, Rust and Plum (and a Kitty in the Sun)

Oh, my gosh, I'm feeling so much better today! I was a little loopy on all the pain medication, but I slept well and feel a lot like my old self again. Let's celebrate with colour!
I actually built this outfit around the necklace. It's a bronze-y colour with oranges, plum-y purples and gold tones.

This skirt is so pouffy, but I love it (I do have to pat my lap down when I sit or it looks like I have a loaf of bread under there). I wore it 5 times in the February 2012 capsule (recap here) - this is its first wearing since!
The mustard cardi is such a great cut and colour - I wore it 3 times in the April 2012 capsule (recap here). I'm really enjoying pulling out pieces I haven't seen for over a year and remixing them with other classic items. I did remember that it's very wide open across the chestal region, and chose a cami with lots of coverage!
It was gloomy and rainy this morning, so I reluctantly dug into my tights and wore these nude fishnets. It worked! It's now nice and sunny out!

The stuff:
Another pair of Ralph Lauren pumps gets an airing. This is the third wearing of these thrifted pumps and I just love them - I last wore them here with red and olive and a bunch of birds. So comfy! They are a slightly lower heel than yesterday's pumps.

Sparkly bits:
My $2.00 necklace and my $9.00 Poly ring, plus my spinner ring, dangly orange crystal earrings and my spoon bracelet.

Cardigan (Club Monaco, consignment), cami (InWear), skirt (Plum), shoes (Lauren by Ralph Lauren, thrifted), necklace (thrifted), ring (Poly), spinner ring (Twang & Pearl), amber crystal ring (some junky store in the 90s), spoon bracelet (About Tine), earrings (Plum).

I got home a bit later than usual because of my long-overdue haircut. Someone was displeased with me (he is currently trying to bother me by digging around under the desk and meowing).
"I demand attention!"
Kitties always find the sunny spots.
"Maybe she'll rub my tummy if I streeeetch."
Finally, he gave up and laid up against the wall.
Yellow eyes!

  1. Glad you're feeling much better! I like the mustard with the purple. My sister's cats are much the same "oh, owner is putting kids to bed? Owner's sister, you love us! Pay attention to us! Feed us! Love us!"

  2. Oh, Sheila, I must first comment on your tooth! Ouch! Fainting in the shower? I can only imagine! I'm sorry you have to deal with the flareup of pain, memories, etc. I do hope you are completely better soon! Now, your outfit! Those colors look great together. I could wear the plum, but I am just no good in yellows and oranges. Well, maybe a very bright orange I could get away with, but mustard. Uh. No. I wish! I love how you name your clothes. Enjoyed looking back at the tiki tiki skirt!

  3. Lovely colors together! That's so funny about the puffy skirt, hiding a loaf of bread - lol! Glad you're feeling better.

  4. Aw, I'm glad you're feeling better. Hopefully your meds will have you feeling better asap.

Also I think your rain is headed our way. I just hope we don't get rained out this weekend! I am loving the nice weather too much for rain to come.

  5. Hi Sheila...the colors are so beautiful together.
Poor Sheila...Glad you are feeling better. I'm a bit out of the loop since I've been busy getting ready to go away for work training, so I didn't realize you had been not feeling well.

  10. Good to know you are feeling better, Sheila. Loving all the colour, the mustard/rust/plum combination is really lovely. And a loaf of bread under your skirt... Hmm, not a bad idea, for all day snacking purposes!
Ahh, cats love to find a warm patch of sunlight.
    Have a great weekend. xxx

  11. So glad you are feeling better!

This color combo is super...and I love the way the silver tone shoes play off all the jewelry, too. Even your cami plays off your hair. The shapes are just right as well --the more fitted top half combined with the poof of the skirt. It could have been a very simple outfit, but those colors and shapes give it a big punch and crank it up a notch. Truly love :)

  17. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. Your kitty is adorable.

Maroon and mustard- what a great color mix. I predict maroon (or burgundy) will be an IT color come Fall.

  18. I have metallic pumps on today, so I feel a bit as glamorous as you always look. You know I'm reading backwards, so I've missed something I'll get to, but I'm glad you are feeling better.

    Love the "bubble" skirt.

  19. Glad you are feeling better - tooth pain is the worst. I have a tulip skirt too, it works really well as you have it - fitted round the waist - but terrible with a trapeze type top!

Cats just do not understand the importance of haircuts...
