It's the last week of June! This month has gone by so fast! I have actually managed to do an entire month of neutrals. The mind boggles.
Anyway, I thought I ought to step it up this week; really put in an effort to make interesting outfits. Usually, I'll browse through my spreadsheet, and see what hasn't been worn and then try to put together outfits around those items. This month I say, "Meh" to that. There are a few things in my capsule that I just plain don't like and haven't worn. I'm just going to make some fun outfits.
Starting with this one!
I was aiming for a long over long less shaped look than I usually do, and think it worked well for that. It's not the most flattering shape on my body overall, but that's okay. Not every outfit has to be a "sexy secretary" or perfectly flattering. This is my brown drapey cardi again (last worn here), and my sequined tunic top (last worn here, 2nd outfit). I didn't get a huge amount of wear out of the tunic, but I knew that going in. I still love it, and I'll keep it, even though it doesn't go with a lot - it's just unique enough to make the cut.
I'm wearing the high-waisted taupe pencil skirt again (last time here) - you'd never know it was high-waisted from this outfit!
It started out warm and sunny this morning and has degenerated into windy, cloudy and rainy, so I was really glad of the tights. They push this outfit over the top for me, particularly with my crazy-ass Fluevogs.
My legs are so pasty that if I don't wear a contrasting tight, you can barely see the shoes! I last wore these shoes here. I will be keeping them (duh), even though they are a 4" heel. They're just so spectacular...but not practical for a ton of wear.
Here's the bag portion of our program:
That's a vegan Mat & Nat bag that I bought on consignment a couple of years ago. I like the faux fur and the brass studs on the trim.
Lots o' hardware today:
The brass bracelet on the left is a keeper; the one on the right is in the giveaway pile, as it's starting to reveal its copper nature. The ring on my thumb drove me nuts and I moved it to my other hand's index finger. Can you see the ring on my other index finger? It's meant to look like a nail wrapped around.
Don't forget to check out Visible Monday at Patti's "Not Dead Yet Style"!
Cardigan (Alternative Apparel, thrifted), top (Dex), skirt (Bedo, thrifted), shoes (Listen Up O'Hara, Fluevogs), purse (Mat & Nat, consignment), rings and link bracelet (Club Monaco), other bracelet (Jacob), earrings (Plum).
I really, really like a looser shape for a change. Angie of You Look Fab calls it "surrendering the waist". Your look today is wonderful, esp those tights and shoes. I've been looking at Mat and Nat bags, I like their styles - this one is so cool with the studs.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up!
I have a few outfits that aren't my "best" look but I love 'em anyway.
ReplyDeleteI love the tunic!
ReplyDeleteThank You so much for posting the bags Sheila. I am having fun putting things together myself . Did quite well thrifting , head to toe for $23.99 . Jacket , dress , bag and shoes . Donna
ReplyDeleteWow, way to go, Donna! That's impressive!
DeleteSuch cool accessories today! Those are still my dream vogs. Extreme heel, strappy, white! If only I hadn't decided to forgo heels. Ah well, my knees are happier for it. Plus I get to see you wear them! Always awesome.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! I love the top flowing over the skirt rather than tucked in and those tights are da bomb! :-D
ReplyDeleteLove this look! I really like the loose top over the skirt without a belt it's such an interesting silhouette :) Really like the pattern of the top with the pattern of the tights too :)
ReplyDeleteI love this look on you! I'm getting a wonderful roaring '20s vibe here. Yay for the meh attitude. Looking on the bright side, I'm glad we can still wear tights - I think they make outfits so much more interesting. You look like you're ready to go dancing and it's only Monday. What's next? How did the month go by so quickly?
ReplyDeleteI agree, Melanie - I always look forward to tights weather because they add such a fun element to outfits!
DeleteI love the contrast of the tights with the pattern on the top. It's very subtle pattern mixing at it's best. And of course the shoes are my favourite! And that really is a great multipurpose cardigan.
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit--you rock the neutrals as awesomely as you rock color!!
ReplyDeleteThose shoes....sigh....slobber drool!!
Fun mixing of patterns sheila. Looking lovely!
ReplyDeleteFun outfit indeed!! I love the shoes and your tunic. And I like your bag, I've always wanted a Matt and Nat bag, but they're so spendy, awesome you found one on consignment.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep an eye out for you, Beth - I have 4 of them, ranging from $4 (thrifted) to $40 (on sale new). This one was around $18.
DeleteGreat pattern mixes in the top photo. Love that tunic top and the textures.
ReplyDeleteI need a brown purse like that!
You made me giggle with we don't have to be the "sexy secretary" every day. Plus, the movie Secretary with James Spader is one o' my fave evah. James back in the day, now there's some steamy style :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS OUTFIT! EVERYTHING! Fun is good for style.
OMG, I love that movie! I have it on DVD. Yow, James Spader, yum yum...
