Two days in and I am loving all the blues and greens:
This is my Smoking Lily dress that I bought in Vancouver in March; it's called the "Emma" dress and it was $68.00. It felt like I was wearing pajamas all day! I wore a full-length navy vintage slip underneath this to keep the dress from clinging to the tights. The jacket is one I've had for a long time, since November 2009.
I last wore it here - yikes - last July! (scroll way down). It's unlined, stretchy and a nice slim cut, so it's a great layering piece. It came with a brown ribbon tie for the two giant grommets on the front, but I can't find it (I suspect Vizzini stole it), so I used a piece of blue ribbon.
But I know you're looking at the shoes!
These are my Prepare shoes, from the Guide family, made by Fluevog*. They are extremely polarizing shoes: people either love them or think they are the weirdest things ever. They were called "Smurf Shoes" and Dutch clogs at work today - I had a blast showing them off. They were supremely comfortable (seriously, like wearing flats), even when I went out to do some errands mid-day.
*I link because I love. I receive no compensation, discounts, free stuff or acknowledgement from Fluevog for linking to their awesome shoes.
The stuff:
I just love those shoes.
I did sort of a nature theme in my jewelry:
My bug pendant, my bird wrist wrap. Of course, I wore my Wendy Brandes ring!
Here's a shot of the dress' silkscreened pattern:
The top flower is the same one as on my periodic table of awesome skirt. Megan Mae, the bees are for you!
Dress ("Emma", Smoking Lily), jacket (Pelican Cove, consignment), shoes (Prepare Guides, Fluevog), bug pendant (Heart's Content), wrist wrap (Shi Studio), ring (Wendy Brandes).
Love the shoes - look super comfortable. Peg -UI
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this outfit! The dress is beautiful in terms of color, cut, and print. The shoes are fabulous, and the fact that you said feel like flats makes me want to get a pair myself... I can't tell if the jacket is brown or black. It looks brown in one photo and black in the others. Either way, it works.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the details of this capsule. You are inspiring me to try the 30 for 30 myself. Perhaps I will start mid-month...
Thanks, Debbie! It's a brown jacket.
DeleteGive it a shot - I love the 30 for 30.
Alas - I'm not in the "love" club of the shoe, but I love that you love them! I'm with you on the comfort of a shoe - yesterday I wore some "not quite comfortable" shoes and today I'm still paying for it. Your shoes are a great colour, and I love how the ribbon you found for the jacket just ties everything together (pun intended!!)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous dress! You can count me in the 'love em' group on those shoes :-)
ReplyDeleteI may have just squeed "Bees!" I've actually been sitting out on the porch with the wood bees buzzing around. The wasps scare me off though.
ReplyDeleteOooh! I also just noticed the beetle necklace. Super cool! Is it real?
I, of course, love the dress. The Guides are like the Munsters - you either love 'em or hate 'em. I think I've swung around to loving them. They are a funky look, but seeing them on you, Megan, and Sally let me see how they look mixed into an outfit. I think a lot of Vogs are like that.
Hooray for Wendy B jewelry. I still love that you bought that ring. It's very you. I admire her jewelry frequently.
Hey, Megan! Yes, the bug is real - and the pendant glows in the dark! How cool is that??
DeleteLove the dress, and how your accessories (even the jacket tie) all match up with it :)
ReplyDeleteI'm undecided on the shoes, but I do love the colour and how well they work with this outfit :) I'm sure I'll grow to like them more as you wear them more often in your capsule :)
Green and blue--my fav color combo!!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is gorgeous!!
I'd give a home to the "smurf" shoes in a heartbeat!!
I like how you changed the ribbon in the jacket to coordinate
Beautiful outfit. All of it works so well together!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the whimsical in fashion and you have added that element stylishly in this outfit. Kudos to you not everyone can do that without the ensemble looking like a costume.Love the 'smurf shoes'.
ReplyDeleteWhat a dress!! And it is as comfy as pajamas? That is the best kind of dress! Gorgeous and comfy, you cannot beat that! My kitties steal things of mine all the time too - and also find things, like one of my cats found a necklace that I swore was gone after like two years. Silly kitties.
ReplyDeleteBeth, oh goodness, yes, it's an awesome dress. I'm looking forward to wearing on a weekend out for brunch (lots of stretch room for food!).
DeleteI'm also wearing my Prepare Guides today! (in dark blue). I LOVE these shoes and cannot wait to get them in the brick red colour (after I get the Mini Elifs in green). I think they look great on you and agree that they are very comfortable, except that sometimes my ankle can wobble a little if I'm walking on an uneven surface as the very tip of the shoe curves up a bit.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Fluevogs can be polarizing and not to everyone's taste (A salesman once told me "Your shoes are CRAZY!" when he saw my mini Zazas in purple and orange). But I love them, enjoy wearing them, they are comfortable on my feet, satisfy my quirky side and that's all that matters.
Love everything! My blue Guides also get a lot of comments - good and bad. The people who make negative comments aren't worth bothering with. =)
ReplyDeleteOh those Fluevogs are a work of art !
ReplyDeleteand that skirt is just gorgeous - nicely done Sheila.
I adore those shoes. They're wild!
ReplyDeleteYay Guides! You know I'm a fan, and that's a fantastic color.
ReplyDeleteI love the bug pendant!
