May 14th - Outfit #12 - Bright Monday and Pay-Off

Happy Monday! We're having a major heat-wave here on the West coast - woo! It's like August! It's 23/78ish right now at 6:30pm. It's sure a nice change from all the rain and cold we've been having.

As a result of all the sun, it's a bit glare-y:
This outfit features the last two "fresh" items in the May capsule: this green sleeveless top, and this embroidered tweed skirt.

The top is new-to-me, purchased in early March for $8.00. It's by Limited, and it has some nice neck detailing. The fabric is thick t-shirt material.

I've had this green mystery tweed skirt since October 2009 (here), when I thrifted it in Seattle for $12.50.
It's a mystery because all it has is a leaf tag.
The brown jacket makes another appearance (last worn here). I'm fearing that all the wear I'm getting out of it is starting to show - some of the stitches are unraveling.

I love these blue shoes so much - last wore them here.

Jacket (Pelican Cove, consignment), top (Limited, consignment), skirt (no brand, thrifted), shoes (Feet First), cuff (thrifted).

L and I had some good news this week:

Yes! We are mortgage-free!

This called for a celebration:
Mmmmm...peaty...

  1. I think our lives are running in parallel! Greg & I paid off our mortgage this week, too! We also were married in March (isn't your anniversary in March? or do we share marriage year - 1996?), love sci fi, love cats, have no kids (on purpose) . . . the list gets bigger every time I read a post!

    1. Christie, how bizarre! Yes, our anniversary is in March, but we got married in 1997.

  3. Woo-hoo on the mortgage free achievement!! We just got there recently too, and it feels fabulous. I think we had adult beverages as well to mark the occasion : >
Love your green and purple with a touch of yellow - very cheery.

  5. Woooo! Congrats on the mortgage (although I still don't entirely know what those are). The green top is really cute. I almost thrifted a plum one like it, but it had a hole.

    1. It's your debt to the bank (or whatever institution) for lending you the money to buy a house. When it's paid in full, your house is yours, free and clear. No more debt!

  6. Congratulations! We'll have been mortgage-free for two years in July. One of the happiest days of my life was when we finally paid that thing off.

Much love for the tweed skirt. The embroidery is very fun.

  12. Oh wow, congrats on being mortgage free! We are yearrrrrrssss away from that feeling. I approve of your celebratory drink, we love that brand of scotch!

  13. Fabulous skirt. I love the embroidered embellishments which take it from a nice utilitarian skirt to WOW!

I'm surprised at how versatile shoes of that blue hue can be. My blue Fluevogs seem to go with everything. Such a good staple to have other than basic black or brown.

    Congratulations on owing your home!
