My Walk Today - and Some Leopard

I was stumped last night when I went to pull what to wear today. I fussed in the closet for ages, waiting for inspiration to strike. Should I wear pants? The new shoes that are too summery?

I ended up with an old stand-by: leopard!
When I got this skirt ages ago, I fully intended it to be a going-out piece. Of course, that was in my pre-blogging days, and now it's become a work piece. Amazing how your perspective changes.

I've worn it here, here, and here (for a special occasion).

The stuff:
These are such a nice classic pump.

Close-up of the colours:
I took my camera with me to work today so I could take some pictures of the things I see. I walked through town on the way to work, and took the long route home.

On the way to work: a murder of crows in the treetop:
A mural on the side of a building:
On the way home: a bridge I walked under:
The tide was way out, and it smelled very salty.

A sailing ship!
It's in drydock at the shipyards.

Another bridge that I walked over:
A lovely big tree with lights on it:
And I love how this tree is lit up at night:

As you can see, it got progressively darker.

Blouse (RW & Co., consignment), cami (Esprit), skirt (Le Chateau, consignment), taupe fishnets (Hue), shoes (Jessica Simpson), necklace (handmade by Cat), white gold hoop earrings (gift from L).

  3. I'm liking the outfit - would not have thought to wear that color with the leopard print. Thanks for the idea.

What stimulating sights you encounter on your walk to work. It was interesting to observe through your eyes (and lens) this morning!
The graffiti so lively; the mini-lights charming; the bridge form stately....

  5. lovely pics! especially enjoy the murder of crows :D (my favorite group name, of course).
the leopard and red satin is divine together. i've been wanting an animal-print skirt and fearing it was too "out there" for work, but you prove it can be done classily!

Trying not to be envious of your proximity to salt water & ships...

  9. Thanks for the photo tour of your walk. My walk home would be crack house, historic mansion, highrise, crack house, empty lot, historic mansion, homeless colony, crack house... Sadly that's part of the reason that I haven't been able to commit to walking or riding my bike - it's not any fun to look at and not the safest. The crack houses I mean. I work with the homeless population of Dallas, so I don't have that fear that a lot of people seem to have about homeless people.

Anyway, I can't believe that you are wearing short sleeves right now. I think we have all of the Canadian winter down here. It's snowing and snowing and snowing. It's Texas! It's February! It should be in the 60s not snowing. LOL

  10. Thanks, Alison! For a cheap brand, this leopard is pretty good.

Tanya, you're welcome! I see so many interesting things. Did you used to live in this part of the world?

Thanks, Rebecca! I think of leopard as a neutral, haha! I am lucky to have so many interesting things to see - most of those are on the way home, actually.

Sal, heh, I guess that's not the usual for most people. :)

Hey, TSS, you changed your name! Thank you - I love the "murder" too. Go for it!

Thanks, Kasmira! I am happy to live in such an interesting region.

Jane W., thank you, and thank you so much for commenting! I love living near the ocean.

Sherylyn, I took these pics while on "our" walk! Thank you so much, sweetie! I can't wait to see you tomorrow night!

Tina, you're very welcome. Aw, that sucks that your neighbourhood is not really safe for walking. :(

I actually froze in my office yesterday. I need to remember to wear a jacket!

  11. I lived in Vancouver (go Canada!!!) for 4 years, in the West End. So close to Stanley park, Granville island, Gastown. I used to work in Harbour Center (with the spinning restaurant on top)... Good times!

  12. Yay! Tanya, that's so cool - I've eaten in that restaurant (when I was a kid, it was a Big Deal).

  13. That leopard skirt is AWESOME and so you... I love that you wear it to work now.

It's fun to see some features, such as the second bridge, the I recognize from my visits to your area.

Thanks for the recommendation on The Reality Dysfunction! I hadn't heard of that one, but I'm going to see if the library has a copy available. Good reads are always welcomed!

  14. Thanks, Kari! Yeah, I can't believe I didn't consider it work-appropriate before.

I thought you might recognize the blue bridge. :)

I'm wanting TRD to be done about now! It's long...

  18. Thanks, Kristen! I was surprised by what a difference this top made to the skirt. You're very welcome - I'm pretty private about my "real" life, but I feel like I know a lot of you.
